Hey Guys,
Just had a quick question. Last June My Father in Law bought a 2010 Conquest Top Cat 2 with 10 hours on it. The previous owner had taken it in for service right before he bought it. We used the boat quite a bit last summer but it really seemed a bit under powered. It has a 8.2 430hp motor. The boat really struggled out of the hole and we were only getting about 60mph out of it tops. We tried changing the prop and that helped it plane quicker but not much. With the new prop we lost about 5mph. So last weekend he decided to take it in for service. He ended up taking it to prestige in Havasu. The called him and said that the boat had 16 quarts of oil in the motor, which leads me to believe that whoever did the last service dropped the ball during the oil change. How many quarts should this motor have, thinking maybe 8 and they never drained it before putting the new oil in? Would having that amount of oil in the motor affect the performance? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Markus
