I got a new to me truck and am interested in a Tonneau cover for it. I have never had one before but would like to keep some stuff in the back out of the sight of prying eyes. So what is the go to for a lower priced cover? I think I want a hard folding one. The truck is a 17 GMC denali short bed.

I had a Bakflip on a previous truck, I liked it except when it was flipped up and blocked the back window.

Current truck I have a TruXedo Sentry roll up hard cover, it is maybe slightly less secure, but is easier to remove and re-install and when rolled up I can still see stuff in the bed of the truck while driving.

Neither is perfectly secure, but keeps things out of sight.

I went back and forth forever on the Bak Flip vs the Undercover Ultraflex, and ended up deciding on the Ultraflex. They are almost identical, I forgot why I finally settled on that one years ago, but I have been happy with it.

Bakflip MX4.
My Previous truck had a fiberglass hard cover. It was great until you needed to transport something large.

Check with 4Wheel parts, they may have a deal of some sort going on around the holidays.

Have a Peragon love it!
easily removable, folds well, doesn't block the rear window, reasonably secure, best of all - US made!

I had a tri fold cover on my 250 and have a Retrax on the new truck. I like the Retrax way better.

I would be afraid of ramming it with cargo when it's inside the bed. Otherwise it looks interesting.
I have a Truck Covers USA retractable (2007). It's been great, but not as weather tight in the last couple of years. But I would get another.

The weathertech looks exactly like the Access covers we’ve been running for years and years. Good value and durability. Not much security. 😎

I have a vinyl top on my truck. it's good at keeping eyes out of the bed and I can roll it up against the cab and secure it with built in straps whenever I have something tall in the back. it locks shut to where it won't open without unlocking and lowering the tailgate but a razor blade could easily break in.

was less than $200

I have a bakflip mx4 on my 22 mega cab, fit wasn't as great as it was on my old 2013 megacab. With it folded up flat and buckled I can still use my 5th wheel without the need to flip it up against the window.
If you go with a bakflip, get some extra rubber pieces to stick on because the panels will scratch each other even though they say they wont.
I originally bought it because I was tired of my wife putting all our luggage in trash bags

Love my Tri fold ultra flex except for the cable pull to flip up each section. Backflip and undercover both use this same system. My cable broke on the middle flip and now it’s a pain because I have to un latch one side put a wedge under and walk around and undo the other side to flip it up. Other than that it’s been good for the past 3 years.

GM website has 20% off all of their accessories right now. They have all of the different types of covers on there. I just bought the hard flip cover. Free shipping to a GMC dealer or they will ship to your house. Dealer will also install for a small fee.

It has a 5 year warranty so they should send you a new latch bar if you call them.

Does the retrax work with AUX fuel tanks?

I have had the undercover armor flex for 5 years. Its great, keeps water out and won't open with the tailgate closed unless you pry it open with a pry bar. It has bedliner on the outside so its held up well. I would buy it again tomorrow without hesitation.

I bought this tank, 75 gallons with pump, fits under my RetraxPro MX cover, 20" to the under side of the cover.

I have a Bakflip on my 2021 RAM. IMO they have quality issues. Mine was delivered with side rails that didn't match. Sort of like I got one old and one new design. They send me a new set that was much better but the prop rods were too long. I had to cut them a half an inch to get them to work. I also agree with the point about the cable release. Mine are fine but I do think they won't last forever.

I always get the Leer cover that lifts up because it has a few more inches of height giving me more space to haul boxes and what have you. Then I always get the Decked slide out which is awesome.

Extang revolution, needed one that could be removed completely and fit with all of this.

Ive had the electric roll up hard covers, great on an 8' bed
the full fiberglass hard cover, cool until you want something big then not so great
last truck just had the basic vinyl roll up, doesn't have the same security as the other two but overall i liked it the best

Truxedo LoPro is what I run, I like it as can fold it up and use the full bed space. It is vinyl, which I like. My other option was an electric roll up cover yet lose 6-8" of bed space due to cover rolled up in that.
