All the best of luck to you. Toys can come and go and home is where you make it. I wouldn't wish your circumstances or any others that resemble it on my enemies. Hang in there.

Keep your head up.
Think smart.
Stay strong with your wife - this is most important.

I don't know your full situation , but, I've had the rug pulled out from under my feet before.
You WILL come back, and you'll appreciate it in a different way.
Life has a funny way of throwing a knockout punch right at the moment you are on top of the world.
I've been through it twice, and I'm only 41.
I wish you the best. You'll work it out.

Feel free to pm me a phone number if you want to bend an ear. I've got nothing but time on my hands.
Life is funny. And, sometimes brutal.
Not sure where you're located, but you're welcome to stop by for a beer and some conversation.

Sometimes you gotta do whats right for your family. Good for you for being responsible.

Downsize, regroup and come back stronger in the future.

Best of luck.

Tough times never last, tough people do. Best thing I can tell you is, you'll come back from this, you're not alone and family and health are everything. Bets of luck and prayers headed your way.:thumbsup

Lb... Shoot me a text with your number if you want to talk. There are ALOT of options out there for you, even if it does mean short selling your house, I still have a lot of benefits that can work in your favor that way as well where it makes more sense in the long run.

You can rebuild financials, that's not a huge deal. Keeping your family together is the most important thing. Be confident and assure them that things will be ok, that will be important for the kids because they'll be looking to you for guidance on how to handle the situation.

If you freak out, they freak out.

So sorry to hear about your situation.....all the comments about family first and so right on the mark....please stay strong and close with them through the ordeal....it is critical for all concerned.

So many people have been there and more importantly back.....staying close will make the number of things to worry about so much smaller so you can concentrate on getting to where you need and want to be!

Stay strong and all the best.

Locogringo is a top shelf guy, if he can find a way, he will.

I have been where you are now (twice in the past 4 years) and without going into details lost everything (we found a way to keep our house, so make sure you get LG up to speed). Everytime I turned around it got worse. But here I am, 4 years later, and still breathing. Wife and I toughed it out, and we are doing better. There are still financial headaches for me that will not go away easily, but I am tackling them one at a time. The next 4 years won't be any easier, but you can do it. I am here to tell you that the pile of sh*t in front of you may look insurmountable, but one shovel full at a time, and pretty soon you can see over it. Good luck, I know you can do it!

So sorry to hear this and my prayers are with you and your family. What industry are both you and your wife in? Maybe someone on the boards works in the industry or knows someone who does.

I know you have a lot on your mind but at night you have to turn all that stuff rolling around in your brain OFF. When you turn it off for a bit then tune into your family. Even though times are tough you still need to try to sit down and enjoy time with them. Goof off, have a pillow fight, tickle fest or something that makes you all giggle and laugh. It will make everyone feel better.

Like I said, you're not the only one. It's gonna hit me soon also. Wife's losing her job by the end of the year so I'm gonna be major bread winner in the family. Luckily I will have my job but it usually gets slow around the first of the year for us so hopefully i'll be able to work enough to cover everything. I've been working on a major adjustment to prepare for it all for the last couple months now. Only time will tell. But as long as I've got my family that's all that I really care about right now.

Curious as to why you think you would need to bk everything? I was in a similar situation a few years back. On top of the world, then Lehman Bros closed and wham!!! Luckily we were able to mod our house, and I gave up the boat. However, many of our debtors were willing to settle with us. Only cost a couple thousand more than filing bk, much less headache in the long run, and my score is already back over 710. Depending on the industry you work in, BK can haunt you for a looong time.
