Thank you. North Texas was also subject to storms and tornado warnings. Even so, it is STILL well worth the move.

I’m in Russellville Arkansas and I drove through the worst rain I have ever seen. Couldn’t see 3 ft in front of you.

Just talked to my dad in Houston said they are supposed to get it around 2 a.m.
Have a daughter just North of Houston. They were getting rain about an hour ago but nothing serious. Said nothing about the overnight weather. Looks like they be getting weather until tomorrow afternoon. ‘My Radar’ is one of the most accurate apps that I’ve seen.

It’s on its way to us in Alabama

Sorry to hear that!! For you and everyone else in it path...

But..

How weird is it for you, right now with the new move, you use "us" and "alabama" in the same sentence??

It is very inspiring for me because I've been telling my wife for years that "I think I want to look at Alabama" when we decided to move from oregon or when we retire.

So keep the good vibes and pics coming!!

Will do on the pics. Never want to see it happen here but we have a storm bunker under the house. Before they poured the concrete floors they poured a roughly 8 by 10 or so concrete room, 10” walls and ceiling and a steel door and steps down into it from the lower level of the house. It has ventilation up to the outside. Would hate to come out of it and find the house gone but at least we will be alive.

And it’s an amazing place, we still are struggling with how nice everyone is. Everyone we meet wants to hear our story on how we ended up here.

A must back there for sure!!

Just make sure to have some ruby red slippers hanging on the wall in the storm cellar(kind of a joke cause all my family back east has a pair hanging in their cellars)

I keep my guns in there as well, put a keypad door handle on it so it’s basically a huge safe. And with the guns I’m set for a zombie apocalypse as well.

Just make sure to keep a dehumidifier of some sort with your guns down there or, LOTS of oil on them often. Jmo

Wind over 60 MPH and 1½" of rain here. Tornado sirens were blaring but thankfully no twisters.

The folks in Round Rock took a bad one. I hop no one was hurt or killed.

Was texting with @DILLIGAF about this earlier. As a kid we went through a F3 that wrecked our house on one side, destroyed our neighbors house..killed some people and wrecked the town. I'm pretty sure I mentioned it on here in another thread but we went through it piled in the master bathtub.. We relocated a couple months later and my parents built a tornado shelter on that house..it was a walkout basement but they had a 12x12 concrete room with a concrete ceiling and a steel safe door that doubled as their master closet. Going through one of those events will change your perspective on storms.

It came through Austin in two waves last night at about 5 and then again around 9. we. It wasn't too bad here. There was some wind where I was at with some pea sized hail and a little over 2" of rain total.

Just talked to my Grandmother in La Grange, said there was 14 tornadoes in the towns surrounding them, but luckily no crazy weather at their place.

Came by our place on lake yesterday about 3:30. I haven’t figured how to transfer stored video from our camera system, but here is our current dock location. Next door neighbors dock looks upside down and two doors down is in middle of channel. Snapped six cables, four to shoreline and two sea anchors.

This is why Tornadoes and Earthquakes are way scarier than a Hurricane, atleast with a Hurricane you have time to prepare or make some moves. Hope everyone is OK in Texas and surrounding areas.

I've been in hurricanes, typhoons and earthquakes and many, many tornadoes. Tornadoes are the only thing that spook me but I wasn't concerned about anything yesterday.

I don't know. The hurricanes down at the gulf coast will give you one hell of a pucker factor when hit dead center.

Were the docks aluminum or galvanized steel? We went with galvanized steel for this reason, quite a bit heavier and able to handle surfboat abuse better.

From what we have been told by neighbors you do get some warning from the sound, they said its unreal how loud it is, like a 747 at full throttle in your living room loud, no way you could sleep through it and all of the amber alert type of deals go off on your phone as well as the sirens.

The sky will change colors...to an almost green haze, after that It's not the sound....its the lack of sound. The wind stops/shifts, and things get eerily quiet before all hell breaks loose. Once that happens the roar is deafening...not something you want to experience.

If you get an alarm on your phone out there take it seriously and take shelter immediately, tornado's give no real warning..and if it decides to drop down on or in close proximity the warning system won't matter as it doesn't work fast enough.

Thankfully tornadoes don’t like us folk in the South Dallas area…seems the worst storms/hail happen in North Dallas.

Was definitely a powerful storm that ripped thru last night.

Our power fluctuated for about an hour.
We didn’t lose power, but it seemed like the voltage was fluctuating as we had what seemed like intermittent brown-outs.

Some friends from church are going thru a tough time, and we gave them about half the food from our prepper pantry…was hoping we didn’t need to dip into it ourselves LOL

Ours is aluminum, but didn’t seem to matter what construction in the areas hit. Our cables breaking caused the majority of our damage. The patio furniture did fly through the upper deck railing though. I think having the second roof contributed to our issue. The video feed was wild, dock went west then east in a matter of seconds.

Mind boggling that those cables can just snap. This raises a question, our dock is being built, is it insured on its own or part of the homeowners policy?

Ours is part of the policy, but listed as a seperate structure like the toy barn.

One is actually still attached to a several ton rock that it dragged. Four others snapped and one ripped the sea anchor crank off the side of dock.

Our family lake house dock in the Midwest, was destroyed every few years, along with the boat and hoists.

Twice. it was caused from boaters trying to get off the lake, and decided to tie up to our dock or a neighbors. With 3-4’ rollers, and 7 miles of open water, they pull out the dock posts, and then the pile of boats and dock debris steam roller the entire beach.

We mark all our dock wood with paint, and then spend a week picking through the piles, salvaging the wood 2x12x16 planks.

Insurance would handle the boats, but not the docks.
