I was checking prices yesterday for new tires for wife's car. Local Discount shop was $ 1.00 more per tire. Hardly worth dealing with handling & hauling them for $ 4.00 a set.

I used to be a huge fan of America's tire in California (Same as Discount tire in other states), but they have fallen.

I needed two load range D tires for my trailer, America's Woodland Hills said the Northridge store had 2 Continentals in stock.

I dropped off the wheels and came back a few hours later to some Kung Fu No-Name tires and zero balance weights.

I was stuck and needed to tow the next morning, so I waited while they actually balanced the wheels and vowed to never return.

On the plus side they still do a nice tire repair for free, dismounting the tire and patching from the inside.

I have used Discount Tire for over 10 years. Prices are always fair, and they have so many stores they will repair any tire that your purchased quickly, at any store, priceless. Free rotating, just easy to deal with especially if you are on the road.

For tire rack, now they’ll have company-owned installers literally everywhere.

I was surprised when recently needed new tires for the RZR. Didn't know Discount sold them. Went with Tensor Regulators. Discount was $40 less each tire then Tire Man in Havasu.

I used to go to America’s Tire for all my tires until I bought a brand new set of rims for my CTS V, they chipped and dinged the finish on the every one the rims mounting the tires on them. After that I’ve been using Tucker Tire in Covina with spectacular results.

Yep, I noticed the change. Before it was like talking to a consultant in the business now it seems the whole sales approach is to push you into their best profit margin tires with little other suggested options.

100% accurate. I know a few folks that work at HQ and they all have said the same thing.
Have a buddy from HS that was a regional mgr out east and he resigned. In the fall of 2020, his regional quota almost doubled but he was informed number of shops were being reduced. He finally had enough of the BS.

Discount Tire around here is very hit and miss with the quality of personnel which I suppose is just about everywhere. A damn good tire guy ranks right up there with your Preacher and Doc.

I'm afraid good tire guy's are rather scarce now...

Last two sets of tires I purchased (Toyo) I found on Amazon and took them to a tire shop in Pomona. I've found that to be the best deal.

I hate Discount for the fact that its always a cluster fuck to get in and out of thier lots usually and always a line there, wastes half my day. The one in Havasu is ridiculous busy.

I prefer local shops now and dont mind paying a bit more. I will be a Tire Man customer when in Havasu and I forget the local shop here in Socal is a member, Lake Mead boater I think it is? He will have my next tire business here.

As a FYI they have a 30 day return policy.
My wife’s AWD VW needed new tires and the price range was $80 to $300 each.
It’s a highway commute of 15 miles and never been in snow. Talking to the salesman, he suggested Barum tires. Company is wholly owned by Continental and are manufactured in Europe.
With the rebates and deals 4 tires were $320 OTD.
The deal closer was, if you don’t like them for any reason, bring them back and we’ll give you full credit, including mounting and balancing.
Tires are quiet, ride well, wear well and if they ever wear out, I’ll get the same ones.

Switching from America's tire to Daniels Goodyear in Whittier. They are a small chain and they have one in Brawley. Well before I was a customer, they have fixed many flats for free. Walking the kids to school many years ago, I noticed the K teachers tire was really low almost flat. I told her about it and offered to take it to a tire shop. I took it to Daniels and they found all 4 valve stems leaking. They re laced them at no charge. I did tip
the installer. Americas tires is way to busy and I have to go over the hill to Industry since the closed the Whittier store.

We love Discount Tire... They twist studs off and strip out lug nuts daily and we fix it for them here. We have offered to train their staff to keep this from happening but their employee turnover is so high it never lasts. Whatever we will keep fixing their damages.

I have literally purchased 100's of Tires from Tire Rack over the years. Use their website for research and have purchased tires and wheels all mounted twice.

Now why bother with the hassle?

I just got 4 tires for my kid's PT Cruiser delivered today. SimpleTire.com was $80 cheaper than Tire Rack and the first two tires showed up in 30 hrs. The second two got here 12 hours later. 205/50-17 with fresh date codes. My other son said that SimpleTire saved him over $130 for his big ass 22s compared to Tire Rack.

Its too much to type here but. Discount is crap now. My boat trailer bullshit at the havasu location and my truck at my local store was unreal.
The customer service is a joke.

I’ve bought my Goodyear tires from Walmart, and have nothing to complain about.
Before that, I used PepBoys for tires ( Dunlap GT Qualifier’s) in the 1980’s and 90’s.
