I've watched a few episodes. They want to "downsize" and get back to the basics. The real world is too focused on "material" items....every one of them when asked where the "tiny house" will be?....someone else's property; a parent, a friend, a in law....

So what is this?

Replace tiny house with van.

Hippies with expensive flop houses...lol

They are all a bunch of flipping idiots. I saw one and the price was almost $500/Sq foot. [emoji23]

I would buy one in a heartbeat as long as it was located in a spot where I wouldn't need to move it. 90% of us could live with 1/2 of the crap we have.

I'm sure a pretty small % of them dont have a spot they own to place them. It's always...."my moms" or" a friends".

Electric? Sewer?

I'd love to see a follow up after a year living "at a friends property" lol

Yep...Most are morons.

We don't want a mortgage or have a mortgage but almost everyone on the show is trying to place there shitty trailer on the far corner of someone's property for free. There was one where they were going to park it on a friends ranch and 3 months later when they followed up they were in a trailer park...haha

Most don't realize no holding tanks for fresh, grey and black water, so you need hookups to use them. My mom manages a couple RV parks in northern Wisconsin and rules change 01-01-2017 to not allow them in the parks. I guess the few that came in this year are being moved straight to the dump since the owners walked away when told they had to leave.

I've watched bits and pieces of a couple shows. Pretty stupid concept overall in my opinion. Makes little sense and an unrealistic way to live. Why not just buy a decent used RV for a fraction of the cost?:rolleyes

we've watched a few episodes and both agree that a RV would be better and more economical.

Sonofabitch...

I turned it on again. Kids got a degree. Plans to keep it on parents property. Dad seems stoked to teach his kid some life lessons. Oh, you broker the window frame pounding a nail? Out of your pocket... Lol

We're DOOOOOOOMED.:yikes

So they don't build any equity or appreciation and want to use the money they "save" to enrich their lives? Might make sense if they saved the difference for retirement, but you know there won't be anything in the retirement account after traveling and "enriching" their lives.

and when we get HOME it's not there and all our 'precious shit is gone' and we won't know where .

I agree with others here; "tiny houses for tiny minds" .

"It's not a camper, it's a tiny house" .

"No lady, it's a little shitbox and you are an idiot" ...............

Living in a playhouse in your parent's backyard, is even worse than living in your grandmas' basement.

What about the fact that the entire shit box is built like a standard house and there appears to be almost zero provisions for keeping it together while towing it down the road.

I can see why young people are thinking this way. Our housing costs in good neighborhoods are getting insane here.

example: http://www.rew.ca/properties/search...ly_open_house]=0&property_search[query]=Delta

Anything under $600k here is a small condo with zero amenities. So to get some property and privacy can see why people are willing to do the small house thing. But as a lifestyle downsize deal when they can afford bigger. I don't see the point in suffering to live simpler.

I'm going to start a reality series called..."Then what..?" It will be a follow up to all the bachelor/bachelorette shows, tiny house shows, build a house in a week and give it away shows, dream backyard shows...every show where you always wonder WTF happened to them 6 months, 12 months, 24 months down the road.

I speculate all those that were given a house by Ty Pennington lost the house, sold it and took the money, have trashed it, or because it was built in a week it's fallen apart. And for the rest of them, it probably never worked out like they thought...

"Then what?" will be sold to the same networks that air Cops and most of the day time crap on TV. Any investors want in on the ground floor of this lucrative TV offering? :D

Also the build a car or bike in a week or two shows. I know I've read before that some of the vehicles that have appeared on overhaulin have been sold and were not that great.

If I had a price of property off the grid I think it would be cool to build something like that as a weekend get away or cabin. Think compound with several family members around the property.

I think the small house deal away from people. Ext to a creek would be cool I just don't want to live in one full time...lol

Exactly. If you could get lake front property etc. and drop one so you had a crash pad it totally works. This one is on the property with a two bed two bath house. It's basically an extra bed and bathroom for when company comes over.

I'm in.:thumbsup

Now, we're going to need someone as a host. Needs to be someone who can really turn on being a dick when they need to, like Howard Stern or the Dice man.
