Too many 44 mag rounds and loud Headers (inadequate hearing protection) My tinnitus comes and goes and yes I too constantly say "Huh ?" to my wife whos been after me for years to get hearing aids (which I have now , trying to get used to them) BUT recently I realized in my defense, that she is soft spoken and when she simply speaks a bit louder and annunciates , and not from 25 feet away my hearings not so bad after all 😂

11 years in Naval Aviation working on H60 helicopters and constantly being around launching F18’s did it to me. Damn near always wore my hearing protection but I should have followed the recommended double protection vs the single that was required.
My ears ring all day every day and it would be awesome if they didn’t. Nothing really helps me and the VA says the same. The only thing that subsides the ringing is constant background noise but in reality the noise probably just overpowers the ringing.

The last time we went shooting I failed to pack all the headsets. I had ear plugs though and thought no big deal until I went to warm up the AR,

One hr of vertigo later....

I fucking hate it and ready to cut my ear off. I can only sleep with 10mg of melatonin, or Benadryl, or gummies, or jerking off lol. Or all 4!!

I had tubes in my ear as a kid and my left never healed right. It's gotten worse over the years and too many concerts. No more, unless we sit in the back and I have plugs or headphones. I use a headset for work and I keep the left side off because I don't want to antagonize it any more. Did I mention I fucking hate it?

I remember they used to put those tubes in many kids ears. WTF was that all about?

Mine is more ocean like mixed with a worbling in now and then. Crowded rooms with multiple conversations really f with me. First noticed that at a funeral gathering. I had to step outside as I was getting nauseated. Fun stuff.
That's exactly what happens to me. If we go to a concert the time leading up the the show where everyone is talking all around me is miserable to the point where I become uneasy and want to leave. Then the show starts and I'm ok. Its not the volume of the people talking its the inability to decipher what's going on around me. My wife doesn't understand.

This shit sux! Just reading this cranks up the volume. If I’m busy I don’t notice it, but once Im in silence the shit starts up again. I can’t tell you how many instagram clips I’ve watched about a cure and how it’s a problem with a thin wire break in your brain. If that was the case I would open my head up a put a wire nut on it.

Interesting read. I think most of us don't realize how much we listen to machinery all day long without ever noticing it, and I'd wager all that constant noise is what leads to tinnitus at least in part.

Think I'm crazy... just remember the last time the power went off to your house, or the last time you were out in nature miles from anyone or anything just standing there listening. We are always surrounded by mechanical noise.

The position of the ear canal and eustation tubes (sp?) are such that youth don’t drain down like it does when they become adults (change in morphology). I had them and my poor son has has multiple surgeries to correct his drainage and hearing. He now has a permanent hole in his eardrum. Funny thing he can whistle thu his freaking EAR!!!! Good sport to go through all this

Mine started 25 years ago. It was mostly in my left ear and after the covid vaccine it magnified it X100 and became bilateral. It's been almost 4 years since taking the poison shot and my tinnitus is mostly back to pre-shot levels. I was helicopter crew in the Army and worked at an airfield and was around helicopters every day. I am pretty sure that's what caused it in the first place. I am service connected for both hearing loss and tinnitus by the VA. Tinnitus sucks but you will somewhat adapt to the noise over time.

100% the same for me. The COVID vax changed mine, but hasnt gotten better. I had minor minor tinnitus, small enough that I had to be in a quiet room to notice it. After the 2nd moderna shot, I remember laying on the couch with my ears ringing like a mofo and its never gone away since...

I do sleep with a white noise machine and it helps.

Mine is right around 10khz in frequency, and mine is steady. It doesnt sound like crickets or anything, just a steady high pitched scream all day. Has definitely effed with my memory and ability to multitask...

That sucks! It's a very common side effect of the "vaccine".
