There are a lot of people that have new trucks every couple years to tow their boats to the river. That won't be an option. Tesla's, Hummer's and the others may be fine, but not a lot of them have much range towing...that's just on the fun side of life.

Now, less new ICE cars means eventually less mechanics needed. Most dealers have one or two trained on E-rides. This also means smaller shops will be able to charge more to keep your old car running, and dealers...well, you'll miss the old stealership prices. Fuel will become even more expensive, as fewer will be buying gas or diesel. Prices will rise to try and stay afloat, but eventually gas stations will become fewer and further between.

Dude, that's a depressing post, but true I think. As a guy who runs a dealership, electric cars are going to hurt our bottom line. No routine oil changes that turn into upsells for brakes, batteries, tires, etc. You could always justify giving a new car away for no profit or even a loss to add to your units in operation to keep the service dept busy. As always thing change and business practices change with them, look at the press for example. I've got 5-6 years left so it's not happening on my watch, but the dealership model will change as we go more electric. Some good and some bad, like always.

We just shared a wonderful evening with friends to celebrate the Christmas holidays. Two of those close friends are long-time Edison employees. 35+ years for both...... I asked them about this topic and they both laughed. They said it will never happen and this entire proposal will fall flat on its face. That was reassuring to hear from people in the know. It's still scary to think this idiot, Newscum, would even go down this path.......

There’s gotta be some balance, a lot of us remember growing up and the smog was horrible in the 70’s/80’s. I don’t want to go back to that shit. The EPA and Carb were necessary, we certainly don’t need to go all electric though.

Trump has said he'll withhold Federal Transportation funds if Newsom doesn't rescind all this his other woke actions concerning this.
Its already going to the supreme court and there using the clean air act against California and carb, AQMD.

It is depressing, I agree. I pretty much survive now on fixing broken stuff. The newest car on the property is 16 years old. I'll be fine...I still know how to set points ;) The bad thing is, a lot of people like me will be out of work. Now, more expensive fuel is an issue Cali already deals with.

Now, add the cost of fuel to the cost of maintaining a semi truck with all the Cali legal stuff, or having to purchase new trucks, and the web spreads much further...beyond the state lines. Costs need to be mitigated, and consumers will absorb, or try to absorb, the increase. Everyone will feel it in some way, but they may not know where it started.

It will not happen. By 2035 5here is zero chance California will be ready and even if it does ban the sale of new cars or import of cars newer than 2034 ..... Well...... I guess it is a good thing I already have enough cars to last my lifetime. I hate new cars anyways.

Looks like I'm gonna let my pre smog Plymouth idle for an hour or two again.
FJB, newscum and all those alphabet agencies.
The L A basin was smoggy with just a few Native campfires 300 years back. It's just the way it is.

Is there even enough power capability to generate that kind of initiative? I don’t think you’ll find the power capability/technology in the next 100 years with what the state is asking for.

Sounds like the last thing Edison should be doing is laying people off lol.

What’s going to power all these electric cars?
From what I here no one building lines is going anywhere. Just people on flex schedules you can't get a hold of half the time anyways.
