I didn't realize there is that much thrust hitting the ground at that height. Must have been awesome to witness.

Seeing canopies fly through the air like that scares me though. A friend witnessed a canopy leg at a swat meet go through a kids head when a mini twister rolled through about 25 years ago. Obviously the kid died. It was in San Diego, so not sure what the exact weather phenomena was but it was described as a twister by the people who witnessed it.

See those EZ-ups flying through the air quite often at the river during monsoon season. Sure is scary knowing the damage and harm they can do when they come down.

Saw a umbrella go through a ladies leg at the beach one time. Scary!!!! I use a dog tie down that screws into the ground at an angle to hold the umbrella at the beach now.

I'll bet a large dollar amount that that pilot is in a world of trouble. Especially with this being on video. Some over sensitive lil bitch will or has complained stating how that pilot put everyone on that beach in danger. It only takes 1. Everyone else had a merica boner. Lol

I use 4 2 or 5 gallon buckets, they stack easy and just fill with water.

That's a good idea and easy to transport.

Had an easy up take off on my in Turkey cove a couple years ago. We were just setting up and it was one of those "I thought you were holding on to it..." deals. Gust of wind came through at just the right time. Bye bye EZ-up.

I use sand bags and tie them at each corner. You can roll them up and shove them in the ez-up cover so it doesn't take up anymore room. They are cheap also

It's amazing the amount of air a helo can move. I have knelt under them while landing or taking off and been long lined/hoisted quite a few times, and it has always impressed me. Not much is going to keep an EZ Up in place if it's near a landing helo.

I had a friend loose her son when a microburst caught a portable pitching mound and sent it flying. Worst thing possible at the ballpark in front of kids and have your son hit and die.

yup thats the way to do it! my boat was hit by an Easy-up over the fourth which left a scratch on the back. The people didn't even apologize or anything..felt they were the victims for losing a 100$ shade cover.. blamed the wind. idiots

Not necessarily the thrust but rather the airmass getting pushed out of the way, wing tip vortices etc.

Not if it was part of an air show or practice session. That was one of many routine maneuvers.

Routine or not. Practice or not. The Navy would never do something like that over civilians. All there moves are at a safe altitude or over the flightlines themselves where people are not allowed. This was a top gun buzz the tower moment and it probably cost the pilot if there were complaints.

Last one was Cal Fire's Huey. Tents and canopies everywhere. We got worried some were going to fly into the rotors.

I do one full 5 gallon bucket in the center with a tie down holding it in place. Use to do it at the street fair during desert storm. No matter the wind it would stay put.

Exactly.. When I was in, we went to fleet week in San Francisco. It was this same flight. And God knows boaters usually cannot figure out where they are supposed to be..

And yes, they move a lot of air at 500+knots..
