Just a heads up to those thunder boat racing fans out there. The Bayfair race is on this year Sept.13-15. Mark your calendars....
Also...the APBA/SCSC flat bottom sprint boats, K's, crackers, GN's and all the other racer classes will be racing there this year as well. It's going to be a great racing event as usual. Lots of food, beer and souvineer vendors will be on site as well.
Soooo...... drop ur cox n pull up your Sox and make a plan to be there for some great boat racing..

If you're early you can get a camping spot right there on the island. Its a blast down there.

I haven’t been to this since I was a kid. Back when the offshore boats raced during bay fair. Lavey had a couple boats racing at the time.

I’d love to go again but with my daughter this time. What’s the best area to go? Fiesta island?

Yes it is. Huge event, lots of participants and spectators with eye candy for days...
It is one of the funest races on our schedule and tickets are cheap. It's a great way to spend a day or a weekend at the beach.

Yes, fiesta island is a good one, vacation Isle @ ski beach is where the sprint/circle boat racing will be front & center as well as having pit access too..you can shuttle back and forth between the 2 for free.

Nice. I'll be there
well stop in to our pit and say hi if ya get a chance. We're boat SE629. We had to change our number this year when the SCSC club elected to rejoin the APBA. Apparently somebody else has had the 29 # since the beginning of time.

Last time i was down it was just the drags and the f1's that were with them. Great to hear this, i'm extra excited now.

I went to the site on my phone and don’t see a direct link to book. Do they email you back when you inquire about an rv space?

If you scroll'd down thru the island links and saw the pricing packages etc. To the bottom of the page where you input your info. and message to them then yes, it appears they will email you back from that contact.

Just booked our spot on fiesta Island. Looking forward to it.
If they are running the sprint boats as they have the last few events, the course will be set up right in front of Ski Beach, the typical, 5/8ths chutes with a couple buoys thrown out at each end.
You will not have much of a view at all from Fiesta Island.
Now if they set the course up like in the 70’s and 80’s when we ran 3 points races a year there, the course was set exactly as the Unlimited course is now except we didn’t run around the Beacon Island, we had a 5 buoy corner lined up with the channel at the east end of Vacation Island.
It was a Man’s course for sure.
Touch the plate and keep the throttle pinned!
It is a great event though!
Sadly the opening race at Guntersville a week ago only drew 6 of the H1 boats.
Usually the westcoast races draw a couple more boats, we’ll see.
Not fun watching 2-3 boats a heat!
Of course that’s been the normal for Sprint Boats for a fair number of years.
Pretty Sad.

Thanks. I’d like to get a space. Just waiting to hear back.
