I like FB for keeping in touch with friends.

The bad side of it is the people who use it to intrude on your life. Block the Stalkers:D They stalk us enough on here anyway:grumble:

Addiction to this site and publicly posting crap I think is way more out of control and damaging. Everything here can be easily googled and used in court against you dead or alive. In fact attorneys love this shit it make their job easier.

So if you think your ahead of the game by not using Facebook or any other public networking think twice if you touch a keyboard your fucked.

:p...Tom...care to take this one...

Facebook sucks donkey balls but, that said, I'll see what I can do about this more general addiction topic.

Listen, Duffster... we don't need you reminding us of our addictions. To the question, "Are we addicted?" we answer, "Shut the fuck up."

Instead of telling us to get off the junk, be a pal; tie us off, and heat the spoon with your lighter. I'd do it but my fingers stopped working and I can't sit up.

I think it's like everything else, used correctly it can be an asset, if not a liability.

Facebook is dumb. The serious facebook people have no life and no self esteem and post shit to get a response from anyone to make themselves feel better. I've never joined, I don't discriminate and I will prob never join.

Seems really time consuming to me. My wife likes it because she can stay in touch with family and their events back in NM.

This is just a slower, less interactive version of fb. We are all sitting here waiting for the next reply when you could be chattin it up right now in real time. These forums will all morph into something like fb is now, while fb or it's replacement will come up with something different.

Facebook is the work of the devil.

...your just mad that Zuckerberg didn't cut you in on after those late night chat sessions y'all used to have.

...actually I first saw Facebook in 2004 after seeing some of my younger classmates at MBA school send me random emails asking me to join. It seems kinda geeky at the time, and I expected people of my age and older to reject it on nerdy principles...which I think did happen until it got too big to ignore and became socially acceptable to join.

I'm still not on it, but I'm considering signing up purely for work reasons as more contacts never hurts in sales

...however, I'm amazed at how many people bust themselves lying to their friends and family in the process of using facebook. Just last week Jodie shares with me that she's pissed at some friend for blowing off dinner with her and she finds out through facebook later said friend really blew her off to get drunk with someone else.

My wife just told me that people are posting this on their status and that she had to do this on her facebook.

Facebook automatically synced to her iphone and posted all her phone contacts on facebook.

There is NO privacy with facebook. Just when you think there is they do something like this.

Here is what people are posting:

THE PHONE NUMBERS of your contacts are now on facebook! go to the top right of the screen, click on ACCOUNT, click on EDIT FRIENDS, left side of screen and click CONTACTS. all phone numbers from ur phone (FB friends or not) are published that u have stored in your mobile phone. TO REMOVE, go to the right column, click on "this page." repost this on your status, so your friends can remove their numbers and thus prevent abuse if they do not want them published.

That's what happens when you choose to sync your phone to your FB account.
You can't see other people's contact info, you can just see your own.

I watched a special on Facebook and they basically said from time to time all your settings will get erased without your knowledge. You have to be very dilligent about your settings because you could find out one day that your whole online facebook world is public. They said, yes we do it and you signed the agreement that says we can do it. A teacher made some comments about one of her students and ended up getting fired because her settings had been cleared. She thought it was private beteween her freinds and it was viewed by 100's of people from her school. So you could be compramised without your knowledge while on a vacation for a few weeks. Facebook admits the more information they can gather the more powerful they are, so if they can sync all your phones for a few weeks and gather all that info they own it even if you shut it down afterwards.

We went on her facebook account and she showed me almost everyone's phone number on her contact list by just following the instructions I posted.

She had hers removed but we can still see everyone else's (almost everyone)

Yeah, but I can't go in and look at your FB contacts and their phone numbers...only my own contacts and their phone numbers.

If she accesses FB on her phone using the FB app...then she sync'd her phone.

I have my phone number on Facebook... I put it there for my friends to see. My bet is, all of her friends have done the same. If you click on everyone's info that has a phone number, my bet is they listed it, along with an email account...

Kind of... it asks if you want to apply the facebook information to your contacts list essentially... Meaning... do you want to use Facebook as one more means of getting a hold of people you know?

As an example, there are people I know that I don't have their emails. I have their phone numbers though. My FB app and my contacts list jive, and compiles the two... so I now additionally have the emails of folks that I only had phone numbers of (because they listed it on FB) and vice versa.

It isn't making all of theirs public though... I didn't just change their privacy settings on FB...

I think facebook is pretty much like posting on an online public forum but with more security. This place gets a ton of stupid shit/pictures posted that's pretty much wide open anyone.

Fuck Facebook.

I started Ugly FaceBook. I'm going public in 2014. I am looking for an IPO -$6.00 share.

Facebook is like a dream come true for me :p

1.11 Billion users per month - I doubt we will ever see another cultural phenomenon like this in our lifetime.

Too me it seems like interest is waning, like "I'm over it."
