I can’t believe I have agreed to do this……….

Captain a 65’ Pontoon boat. Twin 300hp outboards. 90 passenger

I will be taking out a tour this Saturday. I basically agreed, since I’ve always wanted to take it for a spin. We will see if it is similar to my old twin outboard Playcraft Xtreme. It had 700hp. lol

I am actually looking forward to the experience……..

Where does the tour go? I imagine it stays in inland waterways?

So who takes a headcount before you guys leave the sandbar and head back to the dock?
I’ve never had 90 passengers jump in the water.

Sorta sounds like herding cats, doesn’t it. I’ll admit, it’s hard to count people to 90, accurately. Lol

So here is my answer……… I’ll figure it out. Lol

I could try using BS? “The Coast Guard has authorized me to leave you, if you are not back on this boat at 3pm” LOL

It stays on the intracoastal.

I don’t know if it’s a sandbar tour, scenic corporate tour, or private charter, yet.

The best scenic view of the Florida experience is on the intracoastal. Those passengers get to see mansions, yachts, boats, sandbars, restaurants, and much more. It’s beautiful.

I have to get down there some day to check it out.
I'd like to rent a boat and check out some of the sandbars and the inland waterways.

Will you take that out at all before the tour, or do you just go for it at tour time?

It's not a houseboat, it says no houseboats in the channel
It also says no botes larger than 36’, not that it’s enforced though.

No watercraft 36 feet in length or longer shall be operated through or within the channel. No houseboats through the channel.§8.16.095N/A

Was wondering the same. Just jump on and trial by fire or do you spin the props for a bit and figure out how she handles.

I am going to do a walk thru and sea trial tomorrow.

I am a little concerned about how well it handles around the dock. The props are undersized for its size. It has no bow thruster either.

Other than the above, it should be a unique experience.

FWIW……… I have a lot of confidence in my abilities. (famous last words lol)

There is no way in hell that thing has ANY dockside manners! 😂 That is ALOT of bow and cushions up front just waiting to swing ya around with barely a fart breeze. My ass would be puckered. You gotta keep us posted on this one C-Ya! Only saving grace is 90 people on there should weigh her down nicely to keep things less crazy!

Don't forget to point out all the Manatee eggs floating on the surface. I heard people love that kind of stuff! haha

Very foreboding name . . .
"Staying Afloat Party Boat"

I bet a side gust of wind wreaks some serious havoc on that thing!

Maybe im trippin, but I feel like theres no way in hell this thing should be maneuvering around other boats in a marina without thrusters?
Those little outboards with baby props don't stand a chance against a side gust of wind

It has twins. I’m sure you know how to handle it.

You do have someone to handle lines though, right? Last thing you need is a bunch of drunk idiots trying to help. 😉

I did get some more details……

Sounds like I will be a Captain in the boat parade for The Florida Panthers‘ Stanley Cup victory.

Still not sure if I will have the team? Or family members.

I’ll know more tomorrow.

Where’s the helm? Aft or upper deck?
Similar size house boats, with much less HP and a broader sail area, handle pretty well. But, you don’t have 90 people blocking your ability to see.

I will be doing a tech industry standards meeting in Deerfield Beach in December with about 20 engineers. Would love to figure out how to organize a cocktail intercoastal cruise one evening for a few hours. I don't suppose you have any recommendations?

Your typical tourist doesn’t mind standing right in front of your forward view, while they ask you questions. lol

Thats a good analogy. I am expecting this thing to handle like a Lake Powell Houseboat with twin outboards.

I have not been on boat yet. However, I was boating yesterday, when The Teal Titans captain and I had a conversation while we were cruising side by side. Based on that, the helm is on the port side, midway under hardtop. The captain and I are friends. An hour after our on water conversation, he called me to pitch the gig this Saturday.

Contact me in November. I can most likely give you a choice of boats that can accommodate your group. The only negative is that is when we have multiple Christmas boat parades and private corporate charters. It Is the busy season.

I really won’t know until they announce dates of Fort Lauderdale Christmas Boat Parade, Pompano Beach Yuletide Parade, Boca Raton Winterfest. I will need to know the dates of your trip to Deerfield, and which day works best. I am guessing your convention is midweek? Which is good.

Your group can get all liquored up…….. then I will let them take turns driving the yacht. 😂

Most likely Tuesday Dec 3 in the afternoon after the meetings. I'll contact you as we get closer.

Perfect. That is early in the month, which should avoid the chaos.

Here is the yacht we will use for your group. Will this work?

They did enforce at one time. I could not go through with our 38' boat.
