in the late 90's did you happen to see what I believe was a 30' Magic deep vee Jim Cole had up at his shop ?
Starboard side was blown out, apparently smacked hard into a wave returning from Catalina. The damage was up high enough they were able to nurse it back to the ramp so it didn't sink. You could see that the glass where it blew out was dry, hadn't saturated with resin sufficiently.
I don't know if Jim had it to repair it, or splash it. 🤔 I do know he enjoyed showing it off. 😂
No but I believe it happened..... i took some shots on that thing it wasn't meant to feel, lol.... and the shuddering of that poor hull as I'd send it ... Oy. Just not kind taking a lake boat out there like that... but fun nonetheless.

Another 38’ top gun w/ big power & #6’s I think. Play around with that for a little bit.
When it comes to horsepower and hulls.......bigger is ALWAYS better !

The POPRA races were the shit. I water tested our Cig by running it from Dana point to Oceanside where POPRA races were underway. Dick Simon, the owner of the dealership was at the races. He called and asked him who the hell was running their Top Gun at the races. He had no idea we were buying the boat, Lol. Nothing beats running a big boat offshore!

Dick is a super nice guy. I bought my first Baja from him and even though it was a cheap boat he treated me like a Top Gun buyer. Every time I went to Dana to run my boats I would make a point to stop by and visit him and his wife. They were living aboard a cruiser and had an office in the marina. He would always take the time to chat and tell me stories. Do a search on him and you'll see he is a very interesting guy.

I went to Ventura Harbor once to run my Cig and they were having a APBA race unbeknownst to me. When I pulled in they asked me if I was racing. I didn't have any race equipment with me and was by myself so I told them no. They asked if I wanted to be a safety boat and I would have a couple scuba guys on board and just hang out in the middle of the course in case a boat flipped or someone got ejected. It was a great way to watch the race and I got a free slip for the weekend and hung out with all the racers.

I tried to get into racing but it was just too costly for me at the time. I really wish there was a way to lower costs as did the organizers so they could get more entries but insurance and other factors prevented it.

Rodman kept his Fountain at Dick Simon Marine. I think it was a 47'? "Sexual Chocolate". He had a guy that would launch it for him that towed it with a truck that had Rodman's face painted on the hood.

A lot of stories about Rodman and that boat. He would just leave it in any open slip and go party somewhere. Dick would have to send someone to go retrieve it. I once saw it on a trailer sitting in the middle of the ramp in Newport Harbor with no truck attached to it. Not sure what the story behind that one was.

On this day the only thing he was riding was was the pool table at the bar lol, he was laid out on it.

If only you owned a boat 😁
Lol. Right?! And even if I had a boat right now between kids football and work I wouldn’t have time to use it 👎

How’s the house coming?!

Getting there slowly but surely. 2nd week of September I get all of the doors windows and then it will be on like Donkey Kong!

Yup, that was our boy Dennis period where he put his ugly face on all his toys. Heard Sexual Chocolate got bought and wrapped to remove that shit and is in HB somewheres.
