This is one of my dune kids. We're not supposed to have favorites but...............
Met her family in the dunes years ago and immediately clicked. We fell in love with Kelsie right away. Way back then she was wicked fast on a bike so her young career in dirt track racing was no surprise to any of us. In a short time she has moved to the top class in dirt, IMCA A-mod. These cars are ridiculously fast, way faster than the Modifieds running at Sara Park on asphalt.
1st year in x-mod won Rookie of the year at 17 years old and took 5th in points with a concussion.
2nd year, 3rd in points at Arizona Speedway, Central Arizona Speedway and 3rd in the Southwest Championship.
This was with a 10 year old car with over 400 races on it, way out of date as dad put it.
Her dad, John is the wrench, tuner and wallet. Kelsie provides the grunt work on the car.
Me and Kelsie in Glamis when I had a full head of hair.
Kelsie learning to drive. Turbo Honda SCU kind of set the stage for her future.
This year they drained the bank account and built her a brand new car from scratch using all top shelf parts (built at home, dad has a pretty successful history on the dirt building and racing). Parts failure first trip out wiped out the motor. It was a stretch to get her this far and they can definitely use a hand getting her back on the track FAST. Up and coming racers have a pretty small window to break into the bigs and they are trying hard to get her there.
I love that kid and I love that family so here I am, doing what I can.
After much urging, they set up a gofundme page. https://www.gofundme.com/chnhtmnm
Anything would help, $20 up to whatever. Of course, there is sheet metal space for sale for any business owners that want to see this gal get a shot.
