have 3-4 Harris Hawks that hang on the property. see them probably 3-4 times a week. Harris Hawks hunt in packs like wolves. usually 3.

When they see us they screech like crazy.

This one is a red tail. He's been around all winter.

About a month ago, there was another one with him. It landed on the top of the utility pole that's bringing in my 200 amp electrical service.

As an aside, and just to confirm I'm complying with the RDP mindset, I am considering upgrading the service. It'll be a 400 amp for the house, and a separate 400 amp for the shop. The increased capacity is needed because we're thinking about adding ceiling fans in the upstairs bedrooms and a tabletop scroll saw in the shop.

Anyway, the other hawk was huge. Its breast looked to be about 10" wide, and when it flew away the wingspan appeared to be more than 6'. I tried to snap a photo but missed.

There aren't near as many of these beautiful birds hanging around as in previous years. In the 90s and 00s, we might count as many as 25 or 30 when taking a hour long drive through the back roads. I really miss seeing their majestic flying, especially when a few would be spinning around the sky in thermals.

My daughter lives on a canyon. She has a little plunge pool thing under a huge tree near the edge of the canyon. The local hawk sits above the pool on a big branch and eats there apparently. Mr. Hawk drops gross dead animal parts onto the pool cover. LOL. My poor daughter has to fish out lots of bunny parts, legs mostly. Also odd intestine parts or kidneys. Hawks don't fuck around.

Can I borrow him for a week or two to get rid of the ducks that have decided to use my pool in Huntington Beach for a rest stop?
Rest stop usually mean a nest, your about to have a shit ton of little ducks hanging out and shitting in your pool.
If I cant chase them off before they can lay some eggs I just disturb the nest by taking a couple eggs and have a nice breakfast. Once nest is disturbed they leave for the season.
