The Californication Aqueduct. Yes it makes sense. Pipes and valves. It's not rocket science.
Farmers were renting giant pumps to draw from the flood control channels and dumped as much as the could to the recharge basins. And we're fined by the State of Californication for doing what is the gooberments job.

The Federal CVP project water flows to be used. The State could do the same
It doesn't.

There are no problems only solutions.

Like Wedgy said it’s not rocket science we’ve been doing it for years.. One of the biggest problems now is ALL our infrastructure is suverliy undersized for 40+ million people

There’s no common sense in preventing property owners access when the fire risk has subsided. Utility crew have been working on cutting services for two weeks now according to media reports. Seen out of state fire crews heading back home on the 40 this morning. It’s time for local government to take a step back. But in typical fashion they are not. Instead they are asking for right of entry permission to private property and want to manage the clean up. I’m assuming at the expense of property owners or their insurance company. Anyone know for sure who is picking up the tab for cleanup of private properties?
I hear you. Unfortunately in our current society that screams lawsuit over anything... literally anything... this sentence sums it all up; "There’s no common sense in preventing property owners access when the fire risk has subsided." It is far more than a fire risk. There are open gas lines, uncheck power lines, who knows if the water lines are still intact (probably the least of concern out of the bunch) all of which need to be checked prior to letting people enter. Nobody wants to stamp their name or agency on saying it's all safe. My guess is it will be a unilateral decision and the Fire Marshal will have the final say.

I'm with you and hope they get that done immediately and then get the fuck out of the way.

There's actually already pipelines in place to southern CA. They shut them off 15 years ago. Easy to look up (see attached link & PDF)

https://www.farmprogress.com/grapes/delta-smelt-shuts-down-major-water-supply
The article, from 2007, stated they'd be shut-off for 7 to 10 days, and they weren't expecting any problem for farmers due to the reservoir storage capacity at that time.
Would love to see a huge river flowing south from the delta, F*ck a bunch of smelt, but I'm not sure this article substantiates your claim that the pumps were shut-off in 2007 and the pipeline has sat idle for 15 years, or what pipeline to So Cal you're even referring to, in addition to the California Aqueduct ?
I also thought the vast farming area of the Delta itself was highly dependent on using the fresh water flow to mitigate the salt water from pushing further inland and impacting those farms.

Oh, the valves are off, that is a fact. These were just a couple things that popped up on a quick search. That article is a good example of how they say things will be temporary but not. I'm surprised how the media can hide things basically by not talking about them & somehow deleting stuff. It was a big deal when it happened.

Well, there's a shit-ton of information about the intricate balance required to maintain the overall health of the Delta Environment, which the headline grabber "Delta Smelt" being only one of numerous challenges, is easily available with a few mouse clicks.
Regardless, I'm certainly interested in what Trump's magicians are going to pull out of their collective hats and with my avocado trees and my currently browning lawn, I'm selfishly hoping for the best. 👍😁
