My Wife came here from England at a young age with her family, unless you have lived with someone from there it's impossible to understand the reverence people have for the Queen.....RIP, Hell of a run.
Yup, I'm pretty sure when they bury the queen my MIL will expect that we take the day off and watch the ceremony with her. And we'll happily do it out of respect for both of them.

Looks like she was a good sport.
Now that's pretty cool.
The Queen had obviously not been a big part of my life. She has, however, been a part of world history for near a century. The people she'd met, the stories or secrets she's known, have to be epic.

Thinking of it though, she had the same "job" or position for 70 years. No matter the gig, 70 years is literally a lifetime, of monotony. The wealth and power may be great, but no chance of promotion, and no change of pace. Threats of war and meeting famous people are the only forms of excitement. Great as it may seem, it also seems as if it could be a very boring life.

Yay, its the first time I am going to be somewhat serious on RDP and get flamed for it. I am English, I am still a UK citizen. I am not particularly a fan of royalty and not sure how it fits in the future. However, what she did and who she was was an incredible and dedicated public servant and the embodiment of duty and class. I see a lot of off the cuff responses where I am questioning the depths of the commenters knowledge on her and the system in general. If you all start quoting Bagehot on royal duties I will be proved wrong.

At the end of the day, even if not a fan, speaking ill of dead to provide some posturing is beyond me.

As I previously mentioned, not really into royalty, but I’m even less into Joe Robinette Biden. By my observation, it took him an Hour and Ten Minutes to even make a statement about her passing. I always thought Great Britain was our closest ally. May she RIP.
Cuz it took an hour for someone to type up what to say, proof read and put it on a teleprompter. Also for the drugs to kick up so he can actually stand up there

It took so long because this is what happens last time someone “dropped dead”

I see it as a sad day for all the people of the world that are keen to live in a tolerate world where your response to the life issues that every family and person of the world deals with was always meet with the right response and tone.

She seemed to be a beacon of the right way to do things and (not withstanding what those tools H&M have to say) always took the high ground and modeled the behavior the world needs more of.

May she rest in peace.

I would think the best thing to happen now would be for Chuck to realize he is way out over his skis and let his boy Will take it from here. Sadly, I'm sure he won't.

I was ambivalent on her passing, thinking the same as a few here, just a relic of ages past. Until watching Tucker right now. A remarkable human being from a time that is now lost. Summed up by Nigel Farage, she reigned for 30% of the time we've been a nation.

May she rest in peace.

Props for Joe Robinette Biden. The pause between the queens passing and his finally acknowledging it was excessive and uncomfortable. We’ll likely never know the true reason. But, there’s been some very good suppositions right here at RDP. He did make his way over to the British embassy in DC to write in their Memorial Book. He clearly had a cheat sheet with him. At least he didn’t staple that cheat sheet to the page in the Memorial Book, then get up and leave. Good job, Man . . . .

the Queen's life time approval rating was like 80 % any politician in this country, and I mean Any would KILL for that....

god save the King

..
Heard that today, anywhere between 80-90% approval by her own people. That is truly impressive. What we think as Americans is nowhere near as important as what they think.

On average, a politician here is lucky to be near 50%.
Some of us here would be lucky to hit teens...
I may be single digits...

The Queen (not just because she was Queen of Canada) was very popular here. Grocery stores have positive magazines dedicated to her here. For sale at the cash register racks. The highest sales volume magazines get sold at the register. She on our money. $20 bill and a few coins. Her portrait is at government buildings as she was our head of state. My cousin just retired from the RCMP a few weeks ago. When she joined she swore an oath of allegiance to serve The Queen. Took that oath serious.

I'm not sure King Charles will be as popular here. He does have some ties with my province. He has officially visited and had many non official visits for vacation. Maybe why Harry first chose Victoria to live when he abandoned the royal family. His dad took him there for vacations as a kid. Whenever Charles was in town, he was well received. So who knows. Time will tell.

The royal family has been involved in the Occult, drug trafficking, and human trafficking for many years. These are not good people.

Dude.... he didn't say ANYTHING about your wife. He mentioned HIS wife.

Take a Xanex and calm down bro.
