With hours of round the clock work going on here at Team Ultra, we wanted to take time today to post up the work going on with the new 32 SC.

We will be poping the bottom today but wanted to share pics of the infused bulk heads and the amount of detail that goes into creating this new work of art. Along with a picture of the fuel tanks I have also shot a few pictures of the new power plants that are going in, the metallic silver 710 Illmors that now have a 2 year warranty. The top deck I have placed my sunglasses on to just show the size of this boat, seeing how pictures dont do it justice.

Stay tuned for another major news relese from Team Ultra..... for now enjoy the pics of the first 32 SC

looks great....

All white on the first one? I would have figured JW would have created something a little more wild for a boat of this caliber.:hmm:beer

There were several reasons for going white on this one. The main being the time frame I have to get it done. I want it done for Desert Storm. It would have added at least a two weeks to the build, if not more. We sprayed the boat the same day the molds came off the plug. If we were to do colors and graphics we would have had to sand and buff the molds. Then do 15 coats of mold realease wax. Then spray the molds all white and blow out the gel coat to "season" the molds. Then do a nother two to four coats of wax before the three to four days of taping. Then we would have the problem of matching up all the colors and graphics when we cap the boat.

Believe me, I want to do a full blend bitchin' gel coat on one of these. This just made the most sense.

Another reason I did all white was to allow the customer that ends of buying this one the choice of what he wants to do. It will more than likely end up getting painted sometime.

For now, it's going to get a vinyl wrap. This will be just to get by for Desert Storm.

I have also contemplated do full gel coat colors and graphics on the outside. It would be a lot of work, but I could do it myself and this will give me a nice big blank canvas to start with. We'll see.

Rigging starts next week. That's only going to give us two weeks to complete a boat we have never built before and try to get it dialed in. I have a feeling we will be doing most of the initial testing at Desert Storm.

That rig needs some of the candy treatment that was on the silver and red candy 27 at the LA show. That was first time I had ever seen true candy done in the mold it was over the top. Your gel coater or gel supplier must have had a trick or two up their sleeve to pull that off. Lets see that level of gel work on the next 32.

The bottom is out and we are starting to fit the deck on. It will be bonded tonight and the capping should be pretty far by tomorrow morning. We still have a few bulkheads to add to the engine bay. The tanks are in, we managed to get 210 gallons in this one. The future boats should be able to get about 250. Rigging starts next week. Here are some pics from an hour ago.

We will be doing some pretty trick stuff on the future 32s. The true candy is something we have been developing for a while here. It took a lot of testing to get it done, but we are real happy with the end result. I'm glad you liked it.

How do you cap a boat?

Do you glass the top and bottom together and then spray it with gel after it is bonded?(Is a capped boat stronger than a boat with just a rubrail?)

Do you already have the windshield and billet parts ready to be bolted on?

Saw the boat yesterday while down at Ultra dropping mine off. It is very nice and is going to be a hit. I cannot wait to see it on the water. They are working 7/10's on this thing to get it ready. The boat is arrow straight. The glass work is awesome.

We bond the boat from the inside as usual. Then we double up the inside just to be safe. Then we grind a V in the outside of the boat about 1 inch up and down from the bond line. We grind in almost to the inside bonding at the center. We then fill with glass and bond the outside. After it cures we keep grinding and glassing until it is completley smoothed. We don't use any bondo or Duraglass. We then start spraying layer after layer of gel and blocking in between layers until it is perfect and ready to buff. Yes, I think it is actually stronger when done this way.

The windshield is done, we will be fitting it tomorrow. The billet is being made right now, as is the interior. The trailer is done. It is going to be real close, but I think it will be done in time for Desert Storm.

I think mine is going to be going on the market here shortly(maybe this week) to feel out what kind of response I get. I love my boat so if it does not sell so be it. I will not be getting a 32 that is for sure. Great boat, but not for me or my wallet! Something else, YES still(Ultra). This season maybe not, but possible winter build.:hmm:D

Any word on when the LS9 or whatever there gonna call it in the boating world will be released? One of those babies in a 23' Deck would be pretty killer:D:beer

JW thinks maybe June/July, but is not too positive either. That would be a nice package and it would run real hard for sure.

It looks to me a marinized GM product . Hopefully it will be cheaper than what Mercruiser would charge for the same setup .The serpentine belt for my 6.2's cost $ 142 retail by Merc , versus $ 70 from NAPA for example ;) .

The GM LSA SC 6.2 is listed around $11.700 roughly a thousand cheaper than the 496 HO that will be discontinued . We sold a fully marinized KEM 6.2 SC VVTC 520 HP for $12.919 to a aluminum riverboat owner nearly a year ago . Haven't heard any problems so far from him . The 501 HP 6.2 KEM engine is sligthly cheaper at $ 11.181 . I guess only time will tell how these higher revving small blocks stand the time against the 496 .

Wow! I have to say thank you for posting these builds on RDP. As a past Ultra owner and a future Ultra owner I really appreciate that you take time to educate us on how these builds progress. The 32 looks spectacular. :thumbsup I can’t wait to see it at desert storm. If for any reason you need help with anything (including running parts down from OC) please do not hesitate to ask. I feel like Ultra is family and would gladly pitch in if needed. We can even bring TBI down form SLC to block sand. :p

PS- J thanks for the swag. :D
