Nice! I’m preserving here. I have two manual vehicles currently, one a 5-sp and one a 6-sp manual. Except for a 2-yr gap, I’ve always had a manual trans vehicle. It makes driving fun.

If you guys want to check out a gorgeous car with manual gearbox, read this article. This green Iso Rivolta owned by a friend of a friend in Hungary, he also owns a Grifo that's even better.

When I was a kid, I fished a pro-am bass tournament with a guy who had an old Dodge Diesel with a manual transmission. It scared the daylights out of me to launch him and pick him up. I knew how to drive a manual pretty well at the time but that was a whole new level. I was afraid I was going to sink the mans truck. Either way, all went well and I never forgot that day...

Daily Driver is a 350Z Roadster with a 6 speed manual. My commute is through santiago canyon with the top down!! only way to go. Paddle shifters are not a manual transmission!! If you can't "feather the clutch", it's not a manual. Long live the manual!!

When I started building the 32 for my wife she was driving the clapped out SUV that got her through college and grad school. I started with a 2004R and then went to a 700R4 while building it. She started shopping for a new car and fell in love with a red topped/black body JCW, and they only come with the six speed manual. She is a convert now, and worries about finding another car she loves to drive as much as the Mini. Because of her coming to the bright side, the 32 was completed with a TKO600.

I'm in...… I hate that Ferrari isn't making 3 pedal cars now. What sucks is the Ferrari manuals are now more expensive to buy. I'm thinking of getting a 360 but the manuals are still over $100k. The auto's can be had for under $100k.

HAHA! I like a hands on kinda girl. :D
Not all auto’s are created equal. The Porsche PDK is the shit. Its faster and quite frankly more fun than a manual. Of course you manual over ride with the flappy paddles.
For a hot rod I cant imagine why anyone would want an auto. I have the 8 speed auto in my 550i bmw. Its still fun. Looked for a manual but they were hard to find.

How many of you guys can heel tow? Left foot brake with precision?

I drive a 5 speed everyday, it's a focus so it's not much fun but I'm preserving the manual gearbox.
They're fun cars to drive. My son has a yellow sTi that is taken to our local track occasionally. We're building a 1990 spec Miata right now in his garage, so the Focus will survive the trashing.;);)

My son and his girlfriend are millenials sharing the Focus sTi. All of his buddies have manuals too, mainly Mustangs.
A buddy of mine [ he's in the car biz ] in his early 30's picked up 9 Vipers this year at BJ from a collector and added more since , standing at # 17. These are all very low milage cars. He's hoping in 20 yrs when no manuals available some millenials grow up to wanting one to appreciate driving a manual. He has a Lambo and other nanny cars too.:p

Rollin with a six speed manual 2008 jet stream blue z51 vette that I bought new for the bucket list in08, Had an 88 with the 4-plus three manual, and a 66 nassu blue roadster that I bought in 68 Had a 3 speed manual kinda weird, Funny part is I was talkin to a friend about a month ago and the 66 came up, He said he worked with the guy who bought it new and he said the reason he ordered the 3 speed was that his friends told him the 4 spd shifting was a pain, still shakein my head about that one

Non of the supercars anymore that I know of.

Neither Ferrari or Lambo offer manuals now. The last years for manuals in their cars are getting crazy premiums over the auto boxes.

LOL, those are imposter millennials :p:D
All but one of my daughters friends didn't drive or have desire to until well into college when it became a neccessity. If I wasn't a car dealer and spent tons of time offroading with my daughter, she'd not be driving either.

I saw on FB MGS page that BMW will be keeping a manual option. Porsche as well.

There’s a difference in the markets for all the euro performance vehicles. The overwhelming majority of buyers for them purchase as a status symbol and won’t push the car within 50% of its performance capabilities. They want to drive slow around town so everyone sees they have a 300k car.

A manual transmission makes it obvious the driver has no idea what they are doing while they mis shift & going gears. LOL! In the hands of a track hot shoe paddle shifters will make the driver faster.

You are so right, I had to travel 400 miles to a dealership that had this 6 speed. Now that I’m trying to sell it, I get no calls, I’m sure it’s the tranny that scares them off.

It’s interesting timing that this thread has just come up because I’m in the market for a new car or slightly pre-owned. I really like the Ford Focus ST & RS models, however they’re both 6-spd. manuals & I’m just not sure I can handle daily driving manual with so much traffic out here. They’re both very cool cars, but maybe that’s a big reason why there are so many of them for sale? I don’t know, but I thought I read somewhere that only like 3% of US car sales in 2017 were manuals? Maybe daily commuting is a big reason why, because there’s a lot more to do inside of a car w/ a manual. I’m also very hesitant to go test drive a 2017/2018 Focus ST for the risk of looking like an idiot, since I haven’t driven a manual in over a decade. [emoji23]

Gridlock driving converted many to auto.
I almost never ordered a stickshift car for inventory, and it had to be just the right car/colorcombo or else it sat on the lot forever.
Once auto transmissions got past the 3 speed era their popularity rocketed. I probably only sold 1 stick to every 50 automatic Ultimate Driving Machines.

Lets hear about it. ;)

I see its a 392 car so it must at least be a '11-'12?

Last December I decided to retire my 1997 S10 V6 5-sp. I wanted a stick shift car. The VW GTI, Suburu WRX, and Ford Focus ST were on my list and a manual Nissan Sentra for eco purposes. I settled on a 2017 Focus ST. It’s well sorted out, bang for the buck is awesome, and the engine and suspension mods are plentiful (I have no desire for that at this point). For less than $20k before tax and fees, it’s a fun low(er) budget ride. I commute mainly to the SF Bay Area, but take any route that involves twisty roads and less traffic. I’m able to avoid most traffic and enjoy to car for what it does best. The neighbor kid who is a millennial (college age), had a Dodge Charger that was lemon law’ed and he ended up buying a 2017 Focus ST as well after talking to me about the one I bought.

We got my son a Toyota Supra. He learned to drive a manual on a twin-disc performance clutch. We are planning on upgrading the Supra to a Ford Focus RS. He doesn’t do drive anything other than a manual. None of his friends know how to drive his car. [emoji51]

I can :)

My DD is a manual, much faster as a manual than same car as an auto.

The CTS-V is an auto, and is much faster than the manual version

RX7 has a T56 speed manual and a 6 puck stage 3 clutch.

The focus St is easy to drive, gear shifting butter smooth [ to me anyway ] but I'd recommend you to buy the RS because, extra HP, suspension and brakes. My son already upgraded the brakes with larger Wilwood on the front on his ST. It will be quicker to sell the RS, if you decide getting into something else later.
