The Honda CT70 is back

The new Honda CT70 is back and better than ever and it's finally coming to America.. I've been watching this develop for a long time waiting, lol. It's new and improved with a Fuel injected 125 motor with a 4-speed semi-auto clutch. (was hoping for a 5-speed). For the overseas market the CT70 was called the "Dax".. And now that's what it's gonna be in the US.. The Dax 125, and yes I'm getting one! Can't wait.

When I was a young my dad brought home a candy red 1969 CT70 from the dealer, it's what I learned on and I was hooked. I rode it really well at Indian Dunes and on desert trips on the weekend. Anyway, I've always had a special place in my heart for the CT70, I currently own a few, but they are slightly modded which is good and bad. I just want to have a stock, turnkey one now and cruise down the beach on it and take it to the Sierra's too. For now they come in two colors, blue and grey. I'm thinking grey... I'm thinking about shipping it to Miami, then ride all over the keys then ride it home to CA. I've already done coast to coast on a scooter, this would be epic.

My dad bought a blue one in 1970 I think that I learned to ride on and have loved motorcycles ever since. Him and my 6'6" uncle would ride around on it at the lake to go find fire wood. Still makes me laugh!

Next time I go to town, I'm gonna have to stop by the Honda Dealer. No tax in Montana. Would be great for cruising around LHC in the winter and on camping trips as well. I could not bring myself to spending the asking price on a 1970 models I see, but for new it makes sense.

Absolutely.. Plus these things are turnkey, EFI and electric start. It seems like every time I want to ride one of my old CT's I have to get it goin, clean the carb etc.. I'm getting older and less motivated to work on things. I just want to ride.

Honda certainly is getting a lot of miles out of this platform. I'd take one of these over a Grom or Monkey for sure, but $5k is a little hard to accept but I guess that is the world today.

Starting at $4200 plus $300 destination charge. The OG version is at least half that, and they require work. I have a friend up here with three and they all sit in the corner of the shop.

We had a CT70 and Honda 50 in the early 1970’s in Parker. I crashed the CT70 and cracked the case. My dad took it to the Honda dealer in Parker to get repaired. While he was there…… he saw a new toy……… so he came back to our home in the Badenochs subdivision with a brand new Honda XR75. I would go on to race the XR75 throughout my childhood, all over SoCal and Az. I have jokingly told friends…….. I may have never won, but I sure got a lot of 2nd places.

I remember loosing a race to Jeff Ward at the mini nationals at Indian Dunes. I think we were both approx 10 years old. He was my mimesis. Lol I lost to him at Barona Oaks too! Lol I just wish he had come to Parker. That would have evened up the score, (that’s my 10 year old self talking. Lol)

So many guys have a CT70 story... Because that's all we had back in the 70's.. But that all we needed to get us hooked on riding. Those really were the days.

I hear you……. Once the Yamaha YZ80 came out, it was hard to keep up with it. For those that don’t know, the XR75 was a 4-Stroke while the YZ80 was a 2-stroke. It was just quicker!

There were not a lot of choices back then…..

Yes, It's made for an adult. Seat height is around 30".. It's on the small size but that's what makes them fun. I don't know about the shocks, they look like they are adjustable. But those are things that could be addressed.

My Dad did not care for motocross. He could not stand riding laps. He wanted to go on long rides. So we did a lot of desert racing/riding and enduros. But mainly we got together with a fun riding group, and went different places every weekend. I listed a few above.

I have thousands of hours of experience in the deserts around Parker. It is also how I got to know Parker hospital so well! Lol Sometimes my talent did not keep up with my aspirations! Ouch

The reason why I like your riding pics is because it reminds me of good times with my Dad.

My Dad did Barstow to Vegas.

It was the Checkers MC that laid out the first course for The Check Chase race at Parker. I think it turned into the Parker 400. That first year, they had a downhill section, in which that had somebody at the top entrance of downhill, with a cattle prod, to keep riders from backing up the entrance. Personally, I’d be pissed, if someone did that to me, but things were different back then. LOL You literally had no choice but to go down this extremely steep hill, with a hard right turn at bottom, or you were going into rocks. I was only about 7 to 10 years old at the time.

I really liked your Colorado riding pics. They reminded me of riding Gorman or Gardnerville Nevada.

Yep, my best buddy had two we would ride them for hours. I wanted a xr75 so bad when they came out ,but funds were not plentiful. Lol. Ended up with a TS 90 Suzuki. Then two a cr125 74. Rode a lot of different bikes through the years. I will definitely look into this new version. Thanks for the info Dan

Yeah had a lot of conversations over my 1985 RD500. My most memorable was with Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey at a charibital event in Temecula in 2008. We all rode together to Mount Polamor for the day. I've posted pics in the past.
Had RD 350's & 400's prior since the early 70's. Fun bikes for sure
Sucks I didn't hold onto that bike but had other priorities in my life at that time.
