Just go knock on the door and say I heard Fred passed away and came by to say that I was sorry to hear of your loss. Do not offer yourself up to any assistance as it appears you are having a hard time just walking over to state your condolences. which I understand. It will help Wilma in the end to feel more comfortable with her new life circumstances. Any person under her circumstances would be thinking "I wonder what the neighbors think" or "should I tell the neighbors". Better to do it sooner than later.

Have there been any cars/visitors over there? I just wonder if his issues lead her to isolate from the world. I read that she walked with a friend in the mornings, is she back to that? If she spent her married life constantly caring for the drunk, she may be lost. She was an enabler in ways, and may now lack purpose.

I’ve seen one visitor, they were putting the visitors car in the garage and Wilma’s car came out and drove away.
Fred’s car is still in there.
