Joe, what does AI say lol (seriously)?

I think American Pie and either Bohemian Rhapsody, or We Are the Champions, are up there...especially We Are the Champions - that one is an anthem with international pull.

Elton John? Pop, but he has some great songs, also internationally known.

From ChatGPT...

That's a tough question since "greatest" can vary based on personal taste, but some might argue that songs like Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, Imagine by John Lennon, or Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin stand out for their impact on music history. But honestly, the greatest song might be the one that speaks to you the most. What kind of music do you find most meaningful?

Just have to throw in some Canadiana here for some of you guys from that era. ;) Back in the late 60's psychedelic music scene , canadian band 'Seeds of Time' Vancouver BC, my neighbour Lindsey Mitchell, lead guitarist, wearing white shirt and the beetle hairdoo, is an accomplished songwriter/player. Funny to watch him in this old B&W clip.
Lindsey is in the first and the last song, playing. He's still active locally.

.., Nuther Canadian band…The Collectors…from the psychedelic era…late 60s… Saw them live sometime in 1968 at the Magic Mushroom on Ventura Boulevard… absolutely hypnotized me…had never heard anything like that… they were signed to Warner Brothers… But really didn’t catch on in the US market… although at one point, they were Canada’s national band… but may have changed their name🤷🏽‍♀️

@Willie B , thanks for posting it, I've never heard of them. I lived in Vancouver from 1971 on when Little Richard, Ike and Tina Turner and others started taken over the music scene. Those days, you could see them all at Oil Can Harry, The Living Room, the Cave, and The Commodore etc.... for $2.50 cover charge, the good old days. ;) 👍
Santana gave a concert 3 hours non stop at the Collisseum too. Yer after, Chuck Berry arrived effing drunk at the airport and made us waiting and waiting for an hour, and didn't even show up. And that's when hell broke loose, marijuana induced folks charged the stage, thrown the piano off the stage, chairs thrown all over the place and the police moved in. That's when me and my goup left the building, haha.

Didn't know the Collectors become the Group Chilliwack later

…When I made the Collecters post… I couldn’t for the life of me remember what the name they adopted later was… Then all of a sudden it popped into my head they became Chilliwack… the Collecters first album… simply titled… The Collectors is incredible… which is on YouTube in its entirety …It’s an absolute work of art every song on it… their second album not so much… can’t remember the name of it…

… Their first set at the magic mushroom was not even close to the vibe of the flower power of the San Francisco bands… and not even close to the sound of the LA bands…. A lot of people at the club didn’t quite know how to take them at first… But in the end they mesmerized everybody… I had a poster from that night… I think one of the other bands on the bill was called the Moroccan memory… A chick shall we say that I knew…stole that poster and a couple of others… but the way I figured it … I had traded something or other …for two or three posters… had never known a clepto chick before or since… oh well🤷🏽‍♀️

Led Zeppelin- Stairway to Heaven..

And Heart’s rendition of it is nothing short of spiritual

Wow! That was fuckin' awesome! I've never seen that. Heart KILLED IT! At certain points she sounded just like Plant in his prime. The interaction between the guys in the stands watching was so cool and the interaction between Bonhams son and the group was heart warming. So fuckin' cool. Those guys are straight legends. Moreover, if you ever watch any interviews with any of them, they are so down to earth and laid back. Jimmy page has to be one of the most humble people when compared to talent. Amazing.

Example -

Jimmy Pages thoughts on greatest guitarist whom ever lived?

Jimmy Hendrix

Another cool snipit from an interview the night after the Kennedy Center Show

The deal is, that's obviously Jason Bonham on drums. Wearing a "Bonzo" hat.

And then the curtain goes up and the entire choir are also wearing Bonzo hats.

What a completely fabulous song! I just "re-discovered" this song last weekend after not hearing it for probably 15 years... Was carrying a can of paint through a room where the music was playing and stopped dead in my tracks and stood there motionless for the next 10 minutes after I heard those opening chords. What a jam!

Often times late at night after a few beers I'll go on to YouTube and play that video wearing headphones, it strikes a chord with me. The Choir, Bonham, Plant, Page, JPJ etc.. Gives me chills every time.

I've come to the realization that there is no one great song. Just need to relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love of music with friends and family.

Van Morrison / Them- were a Northern Irish rock band with Van Morrison

Another canadian band Honeymoon Suite, Burning love has a great lead solo in it

Not sure if these are GOAT songs, but these bands are pretty solid and show that there's more from Canada than just Geddy, Neil, and Alex...!

Rik Emmett, nuff said.

Also noticed these guys are still touring:

These both bring me back to my childhood. Sitting around a campfire or in the backyard. My parent a few beers and a few joints deep, my dad would bust out the guitar and my mom would sing. Good times.
I like most all of John Denver.
