No, the lead singer from Rush!!!

As soon as he came on the radio, I'd change the station Instantly.

Thank gawd for Spotify. I'll never have to listen to him Ever again. 👍🏼👍🏼
This is me with Journey. Both the Classic Rock stations here play them about 4 times an hour. Got so tired of them I change as soon as I hear them.

Me with guns and roses. Change the station every time. Except November rain. Love that song.

Best song is relative to each of us individually me thinks. I literally lost my viirginity with Highway to Hell playing in the background. Pretty damn ironic if you ask me, but it will always be the “best” song in the entire world in my mind.

I’m a huge fan of early 1900’s country or what some people call “twangy” country. Red river valley by the Deore Bros is one of my absolute favorites. Along with early recording of tumbling tumbleweeds by sons of he pioneerers (although my grandfather always said Roy Rogers was a hack and a fake cowboy lol )

A little Jimmie rodgers?

Long with Led Zepplin as one of not thee best rock band of all time, I'd say Metalica is right up there with them.
Definitely. A lot of original fans would probably disagree after they “Sold Out” 🙄 with Load and the next few albums. The songs weren’t as fast and thrash as before, but still great. Just different.

A little Jimmie rodgers?

That's what I grew up with, 50's-70's country.

Not that it has anything to do with the greatest song ever, but the Carter and Cash families were a dynasty for at least 3 decades.

For example, here, June Carter introduces her little sister Anita in a duet with Hank Sr.

Years later, Anita was married to Bob Wooton of the famous Cash Tennessee 3 (Wooton replaced Luther Perkins after his untimely death).

Here, Anita sings the best-ever cover of a Kristofferson hit, with her husband Wooton in the background.

Wooton continued to deliver the Cash sound until he died in 2017. End of an era.

A lotta history with those 2 families.

Play this through the amp I gave you, as loud as you dare, and get back to me...

Okay reporting back. I played the song at least 9-10 in a row with an open, objective mind. Loud.

Sonically, the song sounded great through my DAC.

But it's not for me. There's no hook, and no memorable riff or lyrics...the song is just "blah." It sounds the same as many of the other 90's hard rock bands.

But different strokes for different folks, it's all good.

---

Just for you Joe - the greatest rock trio ever with the undisputed best drummer that ever lived.

This song took ONE listen back in the day and I was hooked...as were many, many other hundreds of thousands of peeps...

absolutely. Rush my all time fav. The meaning of the lyrics and the story they tell is mind blowing. Their live show was epic. Saw them every tour several times since the mid 80’s.

But my new appreciation of the Youngblood's song came after a recent discovery of a Tom Petty gem via Mudcrutch. I had never heard the song.

Crystal River - it took less than a minute to realize the greatness of this song.

The rolling chord progressions.....who did that?....ah yes, the Youngblood's and the Doors also did it on The End.

This song is a true gem of playing at the next level...

There was an article today on MOJO about 2112, and life after Rush's seond album bombed...

We joked about Neil (Peart, drummer) going back into the farm equipment business, and Alex (Lifeson, guitar) and I going back to painting movie theatres. When we started on 2112, we thought this would probably be the last record we make. So we were like: fuck you, Mercury. If we’re going to go out, we’ll go out doing our crazy shit, not failing at what you want us to be.

“Neil wrote a story for the song 2112, which was based on Anthem by Ayn Rand. Neil’s story was set in a futuristic totalitarian state, controlled by the priests of the temples of Syrinx. One day our hero finds a device. He’s not sure what it is, but it has strings, and he figures out that he can make music with it. He goes back to present it to the priests. And of course, they shut him down because they want control over everything. In the end he contemplates ending it all, because he doesn’t want to live in a world that can’t embrace such a thing that he’s found…

Not the best song or performance ever but………….

Raw emotion from a man that knew how empty that a life that looked so full could actually feel

Awww, but that is one of his best performances and a great cover! (love Trent Reznor/NIN).

Agreed on your comments about his emotion. :) His frail voice spins a whole new dynamic onto classic covers...I listen to that one frequently.

His 2002 American Recordings IV "A Man Comes Around" is an epic record.

Another great original song was the title track, which was one of the last songs Cash wrote before he died.

Kid you not, seen them at least 6 times....awesome fun shows. they were always sold out, and I guess he commanded a grip to play.

As a party DJ, his music always got everybody onto the dance floor.
