The absolute best. I had some great time riding around on my Grandpas 250r three wheeler holding onto gas cap mounted handlebars.

So many of the OG Glamis gowers I know no longer go because of what a shit show it is now.

Before every idiot and barrio brother with a 490 FICO could go down to Bert’s mega mall and finance a fucking side-by-side.

Those were definitely better times out there. It's ruined now for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

So many of the OG Glamis gowers I know no longer go because of what a shit show it is now.

Been going for 42 years and almost about to call it quits. It's just not much fun fighting for a space and dealing with all the morons.

Last trip for an "off" weekend I pulled in at 10AM on a Wednesday morning. Pad 4 full, Keyhole full, Roadrunner full. Too many fuckers saving space and ghost camping. Ended up finding just enough space at Gecko and had a mariachi crew move in across the way on Friday. Got to listen to that shit on 11 out at the fire Friday and Saturday nights.

Ridiculous.

I’m here now been coming for 40 years and ready to get out of the glamis game. Almost had a head on with a sxs kooksaw him coming on a narrow trail he saw me I slowed he came through rough section swapping sides pretty damn close to losing it in front of me. When I say I slowed I did to about 10 mph and hope he’s do the same. No the fucktard comes through about 50 misses my front tire but about 6 inches.

Didn’t care to come out but wife wanted to and has most time off work. And talk about beat up dunes the chop is insane. Like said no longer care or look foward to it anymore.

We were always Gordon’s Well and Buttercup people.

I remember the good old days when we could ride deep into Mexico without a problem.

It’s just changed and will never go back.
Us too! Ride down and fill up with tacos and Corona’s. A few blankets and back to camp for dinner and a fire!

Me, my son, brother and his son went out for the day yesterday. Three dirtbikes and one three wheeler.

My brother an me grew up riding ATCs there in the 80s and 90s. We stopped going in 2000 or 2001, right when the fuzz started turning up in force and they started charging money to camp. It just got too stupid out there for all the reasons mentioned above.

Fast forward to now, we’ve been out three times in the past four years, all single day trips. That is enough to fill any void for Glamis. It’s stupid x100. More money than brains. More ability to finance shit without knowing how to drive it. Zero common courtesy or understanding basic navigation rules of the dunes. Douche canoes all around.

Just where we were camped, we watched three different morons pull their 4x4 trucks towing giant trailers straight out into the sand just to immediately get stuck for hours. The drag races….are about as stupid as a street takeover. Maybe an off weekend would be tolerable but it sounds like those days are over too. Personally we had a great time riding but the crowd that permeates that place is enough to keep me away except for a few far and between day trips.

And to top it off….at the Glamis store, some Punjabi cocksucker straight off the boat found it necessary to walk up to my dirtbike and start cracking the throttle wide open as he’s showing his girlfriend who knows what. I told him to get the fuck away and keep his hands off. He looked at me like it wasn’t a big deal and shrugged it off. He’s lucky he didn’t get an open handed bitch slap.

I was thankful to leave in one piece and watch it in my rearview mirror.

I went back last year for the first time in about 30 years, had a great time, but we went during King of the Hammers and figured all the idiots went to Johnson Valley. Going to try again this year with the same strategy.

The ghost campers kind of bugged me, but we were only there two nights and spent most of the time out burning fuel.

I remeber in the 80s my parents camping right off the highway and watching comp hill from camp at night just be crazy bright from burning VW blocks. Then in the late 90's the fights and people building trenches at comp hill. The good old days.

Lol I was born in 1978 and probably had my first trip to glamis in 1978. We used to camp on the north side of the 78. We called them the little dunes. We weren’t allowed to cross the road without dad. Back when you had clean gene’s and dirty bob‘s.

My brother Chad used to race the train on the road and get his ass chewed by dad every time he did it. He would take a pretty good ass chewing but was like a dog that you couldn’t get to stop chasing cars!

Mother G!

So many good times. I definitely miss it. Need another toyhauler not sure I would go the banshee route. A new Funco would be a lot more comfortable at my age.

Started in the early 80's on ATC's then graduated to a Sand Toys rear engine buggy, 1835VW built by Race Prep in Reseda, They also did my transaxle. Would do Pismo and Glamis. Not a lot of people back then except for Thanksgiving. Always fun times.

It boggles my mind that I've never been to Glamis... I'm a CA native, avid off-roader. Dang..
I ride anywhere and everywhere! Glamis is still my favorite place to ride a motorcycle especially after a good wind storm! Only get out to glamis every few years but always a good time.

So funny how everyone remembers the good old days differently. Hearing lots of get of my lawn around here.

Any of you guys go over to the Mammoth Wash side to see if it’s stupid over there too?
Only rode there once years ago, it was pretty calm. Hardly anyone there.
The only noise we heard at night was coyotes and the train on occasion.

I feel the same way about the desert as everyone is describing Glamis! We have been doing the dirt thing for 30+ years and I am pretty burnt on it. I am starting to get back into Glamis after taking a break for several years, and its an awesome place with some super cool people if you go at the right time.

Riding a moto in the dunes is amazing, I had a rail and a moto when I was still going to glamis. I was all in balls deep and it was a major part of my life. By the late 90’s the culture shift out there is what turned me off. Litterally saw it happen within our group, some one brought a friend who then brought a friend and next thing I knew I was surrounded by people I didn’t care to be around. They were not there to ride, as much as they were there to be a part of some scene and be seen.

I experienced the same thing at the river, so much effort and resources were directed at the activity only to pull up on some beach and be joined by prison inmates and tweaker type people. I’m just not into being around dirt bags at all, and I’m really not into paying a fortune and spending all my free time to be around dirtbags 😂

Glamis and the river are both amazing places, when the dirtbags stop going I’ll be back😁

I am here now, and am going to agree the camping sucks trying to get a spot. It’s good to have friends that have the time to go early and get some real estate.
I have been going since I was a kid in the late 70’s, we did take a break as a family when comp hill became a shit show. The sign and drive guys have messed up the camping, but you very rarely see them in the dunes just the destination sites. image.jpg
This is the view outside my door right now.

If you dont go on the holidays its still great.
I have been going for thirty years and as wild as it is now if you were there in the early 2000s than you know how wild/dangerous it was and could be again.
The people there now on holidays and big weekends just dont have any courtesy/respect for othhers.

Havasu is the same on the summer holidays.

Been going to Glamis/Gordan's since the late 70's. The vibe has changed but the fun is the same. There is just nothing else like it. As I have gotten older, I definitely have adapted. I don't do big weekends anymore and really only go there to drive. I started on an XR75 when I was about 6 or 7 years old. I use to love camping, but now, I love my own bed. I pretty much only do day runs now. I can usually hook up with friends on a Saturday or Sunday. I get up early, make the 3 hour drive and am in the dunes by 9 to 10 am. I dune till dark. Usually 5 to 6 pm, then load up and head home. If The Town Pump is open (Westmorland) I will stop for a nice steak dinner, then head home and be in bed between 10 and 11 PM. It is a long day, but a very fulfilling one. I can do 3 to 6 of these day runs per season, and maybe a Superstition or Ocotillo run in between if I am really ambitious. It scratches the itch!! I just love the desert and have to get my fix. I do prefer off weekends with less traffic. Busy weekends are for Idiot watching, not for riding/driving.

I miss Glamis !

Last trip was Vets 2019, I don't own an RV or a trailer anymore.

Just go out into the dunes and you will avoid the idiots. They are all parked at the hill all day saying LAM !

We have actually had really good luck getting away from the morons by actually going out in the dunes.
X10

The amount of people riding in the dunes on Saturday was nowhere even close to the amount of people that were camped there. Probably 1% or 2% at best and that’s no bullshit.

Most are sitting at camp doing donuts, at one of the destination spots trying to look cool, or shopping for T-shirts at vendor row. The Glamis store only had 15 people or so hanging out when we went Saturday at noon.

I was going to Glamis from 2009 to 2012. I was still somewhat young and was oblivious to what was going on with the economy because I still had a job. Those were some very fun years. Since the economy was slow there was hardly any riff raff, 909r's, and majority of people were sociable. Noticed about 2017 the "crowds" started appearing again and have only grown in numbers since. I'm a die hard 2 wheel guy. Had to take a break starting in 2019 as everyone sold out and bought SXS.

Not gonna lie, it can get pretty shit show’ish during KOH. But it’s kinda like Parker as dipshits show up once, sink there boat, get beat up and the bar, and there chick bangs some other dude, then they don’t come back LOL

I prefer places with signs like this these days😂

The ATC is pretty slick!👍
500 is a whole different beast vs a 250 or even with a 300 kit.
Their biggest issue is they don’t like to stop much😳😳
3 tires locked up and it just keeps going😳😂

If it weren't for the Latino Community getting into and increasing participation in the sport with sand cars and SXS's we would have never had the over whelming support to back up and crush the Center for Biological Diversity's and Public Employees near successful efforts to shut Glamis down.

Yeah,,, I said it.

We moved to Havasu 24 years ago and didn't even know Glamis so we bought a snowmobile trailer and 4 Polaris ATVs and went there in april 23 years ago.
Nobody was there obviously. Too hot but we had a blast
RZR wasn't even a word.
Still small town Havasu and everyone knew us for all the ATVs.
AZ West was on Industrial. We ended up with 4 more ATVs from them
Jeff Hart was a VW guru and tuned all the sand rails out there and he had a 10 second VW bug that he ran at the airport during an air show.
My girls are going to hate me for posting this pic lol

Anyone for leg wrestling?? 🤣🤣🤣

I miss the OG wash road, when very few would venture to wash 22. And no one was in the big dunes. 😎
I remember when our used to camp in wash 13, and then this huge "group" came in and encircled our circle. What a shit show....
