I always wanted to see these Two Icons. The Concorde was "Chartered" by The Owner of "Godfathers Pizza" in Omaha, and I couldn't make it down to see. The Space Shuttle was a T-V Event for me although have talked to several that all talk about the Sonic Booms that it made on approach. I wanted to see a B-52 and just never get anywhere close to a Base. The B1-B is still on my list and they are based out of Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. I was on a trip out to the "Black Hills" and had a tour lined up several years ago and on the way out one of "Fleet" crashed in Wyoming and they were grounded for some time, so did not get to see one of these Beautiful Planes Fly in person.

If you ever get the chance, The air and space museum in DC is awsome. They also have another exhibit at Dulles airport that is HOLYSHIT to walk in and see it all.. SR71 as you walk in the place. A shuttle on display, a concorde hanging from the ceiling and the Enola Gay if I remember right on display also along with a shit ton of other birds.

Yea super impressive, I’ve seen those, another good one is the Museum of Flight in Seattle if you ever get up that way.

My grandparents flew in the concord I think 3 times, round trip. Pretty impressive from what I understand.

If you ever get to Orlando, Kermit weeks has a museum about an hour away. Man does he have a collection of shit. Big time oil money from an uncle. Pretty impressive story.

I worked at AF plant 42 in Palmdale and Edwards AFB since the early 80’s
Worked on Space Shuttle, B1-B, most of the time but also worked on SR-71, AC130-U, X-31, ABL, and many others.
Watching the near daily flights of the SR, TR1, and B1 were always a thrill. Shuttle landing were great, especially when at EAFB.
Occasional flights of every fighter plane flight from F5 to F20, F117, F22, JSF, and just about every cargo plane were never boring.
The rollout of the B2 was quite an event with a stray plane landing on the runway, and the B2 sinking in the asphalt.
The F22 doing an air show exhibition will leave you speechless. (RIP Cools).

I grew up playing in my back yard watching B-52’s flying over everyday. It was common to here a boom every few days. They did practice bombings between Charlevoix and Petoskey. My cousin that is my age ended up being a B-52 pilot. He has two records in flying the B-52. One record is the longest continuous flight for Desert Storm. They retired his jet, it is on display at Fort Walton Beach Florida airport museum.

I'm already missing the daily flyover of the big cargo planes (not sure what exactly they were) and A-10 Warthogs that I got in Tucson. The A-10's were just always super cool to see them flyover with their cannon sticking out the front.

My Dad flew on the Concorde a few times in the 1980's. He worked in London part time and had meetings in NYC. I've been in the Concorde at the Boeing Museum. Small.............................

Sometime back in the 90's four wheeling, standing on Black Mountain about 100 miles southeast of Phoenix. Saw the 747 carrying the shuttle, odd thing it was flying from east to west, opposite the normal direction. Phoenix is a stop on it's westbound trip so I suspect they had an issue and were returning to Phoenix.

Unrelated but about that same time saw a 747 passing low and slow over my ranch about 30 miles west of there. The 747 continued low and slow to the Black Mountain area wher it proceeded to dump fire suppression stuff. No fire, just testing one of the early prototypes of the 747 water bomber.

My parent's have a place on the beach in Cocoa Beach which is just south of the Cocoa Beach Pier. They are geographically south of Cape Canaveral. Whenever they would piggy back the Shuttle back to Canaveral, their approach was from South to North, directly over the beach. I remember standing on their balcony and watching the Shuttle fly directly overhead. It was eerily close, and moving at such a slow speed, I wondered how it stayed in the air. It was an incredible sight to see!!

Agree, the shuttle display at Cape Canaveral is the best of the 3 that I have seen (Los Angeles, Dulles Smithsonian & the Cape). My dad worked on the robotic arm and he was the first American to use it (Was built in Canada)
