Yes it is! It's an exciting day for them and the brand! They wanted to carry on Steve's legacy. Lia is one of the most knowledgeable people I've talk to. She's laid them up before. Also HTM2 was building at 25.9 deck boat based off the 24 and it's beautiful! They have acquired that mold as well. They are moving it back home to CA.

It's unreal they already have a list of people in line for orders. But the molds have been loaded up and headed west as we speak

this is great. a boat manufacturer coming back online is great for boating....but i have a question

These molds seem to be everywhere? Did they sell em all? Did they rent em out? Did they buy em back?

How does all that work?

I don't know all of the details of how they came to regain ownership of the molds but what an incredible opportunity for them and their family!! Wow! Congratulations!!

Looks like they went and picked them all up. They got the SR24 back from Caliber1, the SS24, and the SL306. Then they also have the deck plug for the deck boat that was being designed at HTM2, which used an SR24 bottom. Not sure if the have the 277 deck molds.

These boats were very popular for a lot of years. I hope they do well and people understand what high HP will do to any boat. I towed a guy in with a 24ft HTM and sitting in the back was a 1200 HP blown engine. With that kind of HP things happen.

They have ALL of the molds and own the rights to HTM. The owner's of HTM2 had all the molds stored in different places. They went and inspected all the molds last week and since HTM2 was wanting to sell them they have to give HTM the right to purchase it back first. The timing was right and with all the support they've received on SM it made sense. There is a pic of Lia and Sharece in front of the mold with the rainbow in the background. We like to think that's Steve smiling down.

I owned one for 10 years, great boat. I think they will have to update the top of the mold a bit to give a newer look, after all it is from around 1997. I think
thats why there has not many been built since she sold the company. I would love to see it come back, On any given holiday at havasu i will see around 40 or so
of them. still well represented on the lake.

Only positive thoughts going out to both of them. Hope they can bring back the brand as it once was

Thanks brotha! They will and then some, I know they are going to start out slow and really focus on a high end quality build and finish. The new deck is going to be sweet!

So the SR was changed from the earlier addition and the SS was built in 00-01 they will update some stuff and really focus on interior and fit and finish. They are also going to mold a fiber glass engine compartment. Also there is a new model a deck boat they will be finishing the top half of the model. I wouldn't expect them to start changing top decks for awhile. They already have a waiting list for the boats. We need to see more 306's out since there were only 9 produced. I know they are going to be talking with Rob at Rootz about building motors for them. I'd love to see the merc 700 in the deck or as a nice upgrade in the SS. For the 306 a 1350 would be perfect as it's a very big boat.

Not many were built after HTM2 bought the rights because it happened right in the middle of the recession. So they shut down. Rodney and Renee are excellent people and it was no fault of their own it didn't work. Once the interior is updated it will change a lot. But as of right now the SR and SS are timeless boats. The 306 had only 9 built and the new deck will sell like crazy it's beautiful

I'm thinking they're going to have to do more than interior changes and upgrades to keep up with Howard DCB Eliminator. I agree with earlier comments new top deck needs to be more modern.

Squirliest boats ever. Sorry, someone had to say it. I would never ride in one.
That's awesome the girls are bringing back there dad's dream,I know the older 97 98 I believe, wood floor htm's that were layed up by virage had some issues,we had a 2001 ss24 1150hp full hydraulic steering to helm, and dual imco steering stabilizers runs high 120s to 130 never had a handling issue with acting squirly, boat accelerates hard, definitely a driver's boat that takes seat time

Nobody is trying to keep up with anyone yet. They are starting off small and doing high end stuff. They have a waiting list right now.

Richard don't even give that moron the time of day. He's never been in one yet talks like he knows how they ride. That's how these bullshit rumors get started. Grads STFU and go back to paddle boarding

Takes money to change a mold and I'm sure they will make changes, but as of now there's no need. They have a new model that will be a hot seller. But yes once they get going I think they will make changes to the top deck. I'd love to see the 24 made into a 26-28 with a full windshield and the 306 to 33-35 with a full windshield.

Crazy.im 29. I also wasn't brought up in and around the boat biz my whole life though. I wish them luck. I think they will HAVE to change deck and interior though. New boats just look way too killer imo.

The interior and some other changes will happen up front. Any changes to the top deck won't be for a while. But the new deck boat is sweet.

Yea I've been following along.i think they've already taken huge leaps. I thought getting the molds back would be a nightmare

Thank you! They need to finish the mold for the top deck and make some adjustments to it. But it's going to be really cool. I don't believe they have a model name picked out yet. But I think this is going to be a player in the deck market.

Please reach out to Lia as I know they are looking. Some people have asked if they are hiring riggers and techs and she said yes and has reached out to them. But the boat does look amazing.

By the way, who's doing the wood plug?

HTM2 was working on but they never finished it so I'm not sure who is doing it. In the 2-3 weeks we should have more information as they start to get setup. I know they're having to do a few repairs on the molds but overall they look great. I think it's crazy they have a waiting list already.

Yep. They're going to have some challenges there. Finding riggers. Finding laminators.
Finding people who are good anyways. ;)

I don't do the FB thing. S sorry for bombarding this thread with questions.

No worries! I'm sure that is going to be a challenge, but they do have some leads and I'm sure some of the old crew would be interested. I know they are going to produce limited number of boats to start so they can get more visibility again. But I can always give you Lia number if interested she's such a rad lady

Thanks man. I'm not sure that would work, lol.
They're like 100 miles away. That would make for a long work week!

If I remember right Dave and Steve were buds?
If so, I'm sure the girls are aware of this thread and reading along. One of you ;) should create a handle and become an RDP inmate.:thumbsup

They are over in the FB group I'm messaging with Sharece back and forth right now. We help run the FB and IG accounts for them. I'm actually trying to find Dave right now lol last I heard from Mr. Phillips is when I ran into him at the bank a few years ago. He was doing work in Dubai I believe for awhile. I'm trying to figure out if he has his glass shop out in Acton still.

Looks like RD is going to make a cali trip to check things out and do a write up.

Is that confirmed or he should make one? I'd think he'd be best served waiting until they work all the details out. But it would be great to get RD to tour and do a write up.

Might be the first and last time this ever happens. Grads is right. I've been in one, and that was enough for me. Boat scared the shit out of me from the moment it got on plane. Grads isn't the first one to think or say that. Now I'm sure things have changed and they are great running boats. I like grads won't ever get in one again.

Best of luck on the come back. Be fun to watch.

Now that is over. Fuck grads.

Never heard that before and have never felt that before. Sorry Tyro gone respectfully disagree with you. My boat is as stable as can be they are a drivers boat and they will test your skill. But not one time has my boat ever gotten "squirly".

many of us were around the early days. Not saying yours or others aren't stable. The one I rode in was loose as fuck and squirly is an understatement. Just saying I personally won't ever get in one again. I wish them the best of luck with the reboot

I'm wondering if those were the virage deals as those boats had many issues, but Steve worked to correct those issues for customers who had one from Virage. They made some tooling changes to the SR after 97

If it were me I would take the old 306 hull adapt it to run twin 400R outboards. Take the old 24 SS/SR boat and tool a deck similar to a 27 Eliminator Speedster. Still offer the original deck. I also rember seeing a V Bottom hull they drew up I think it was around 27 foot, finish that plug maybe even adapt it as a center console outboard platform as well as a std. deck single sterndrive engine. This could be a very positive experience if the overhead is kept low and the prices are very competitive or slightly below the competitive range.
