For the guys who carry( which I know there is none here) how much ammo would you carry if you do? 1 extra mag, 2 etc.

Personally if I carried, I would have the one in the weapon and 2 others in my pocket. Yes I know, are you scared. No, simply being prepared for the worse possible situation.

Do you carry extra ammo in your car or truck? Again if I carried I would probably have 200 or 300 rounds under the back seat In a container.

If I carried I would have at least one extra mag (depends on size and what I'm wearing) and another 50 - 100 rds in the pick'm up truck.

If I need to go to California I double the amounts.

If I carried, I'd have 1-hi cap mag in a pocket and several more hi-caps in the truck.

As a general rule I carry one reload for whatever weapon I happen to be carrying.
And I do carry.
I only carry semiautomatics, so that means an extra mag somewhere.
I don't carry a box of ammo, if it can't be done with one mag then I have a second. If it can't be done with that then I shouldn't have pulled the thing in the first place.

You guys need to take some marksmanship courses.

One normal mag in the piece.

Learn to shoot guys... Unless there is more than 12 guys attacking... you should be fine.

Typically 1 mag in the gun +1 round.....Anymore need than that, I'm somewhere I should not be and didn't come prepared.

I can just picture some folks with the crossed boleros full of extra rounds.:D

Wes this is Tyros point. when shit goes bad there will be at least 12 guys after him:D

Seriously on the guns I carry I have the holsters with a second mag pouch It really does not make it that much heavier.

I also normally have a box of shells in the truck. Not so much for back up but because it is handy to have if we do some impromptu shooting

I carry a Glock 23 with one mag. If I can't counter a threat with that, I should not have left the house...

In general I agree with Froggy...but I sometimes I carry in a shoulder rig and the extra mag helps balance the load out.
When I carry a smaller weapon, like a Walther PPK-S for instance, I have six to get the job done with. It is in a IWB holster.

If 8 rounds of 45 acp or 9 of 10mm does not do the trick I am dead anyways.

Wes you don't count.

I actually had a little daydream-fantasy this morning about what I would have done if some single asshole had come into a dark theater I was in shooting it up.

It ended badly for him, and I actually elevated my heart rate thinking about it.

There was cheering afterward though, and questions posed to talking heads in every news outlet in the country about how someone got seven rounds off, from the guys own gun, in his head, before he hit the ground.

Oh... and River came on CNN to say that the reason there was so much damage done wasn't just the seven rounds to the piano lessons... but the fact that the kevlar helmet let those rounds rattle around in there like a hamster in a cage silver bullet mixer style...

Exactly....I have one mag....If I cant take out a shooter or two, who are not expecting return fire from me, with one hi cap mag...then I have spent alot of range time for nothing, and I will be running for the exit..

I carry a Sig .45 - 8 rounds total - no extra clips and always one in the pipe. Last night i would have been on the floor hiding like a baby. The pandemonium would have been horrific and the opportunity for a fire fight wouldnt have been my first thought. It would have been to protect my family first , then others. What a horrible event for sure. I hope they fry this young man for sure.:thumbsup

Realistic answer :thumbsup
The chances of hitting an innocent person in that theater would have been significant.
Dropping two good guys, while trying to hit the bad guy, is sorta frowned upon, methinks.

Sorry Froggy, in LA County, most perps work in teams of 2-3, you should have an extra mag, and you know well that CQB is'nt a one shot, 1 down dealio, just saying....

River will leave more brass on the ground that what's in a Destroyer's propellor, and Sydney Ray's dad will make a hole where the guy's eyes, mouth and nose once were, with about 30 rounds off all the guns he carries off duty:p

I would have asked the shooter, politely, to stop shooting theater goers. It's the Canadian way.

I carry a Glock 27 (.40) everywhere. It holds ten and the last time I carried an extra mag was when I went to go see the premier of Mr. Poppers Penguins. Never know what kind of assholes are going to show up to see movies about penguins...:party2:

I carry when I work in Lancaster or Palmdale. Oh and when I sell/buy from Craigslist. Glock 17 with 17 round mag. I probably wouldn't have used my weapon is this situation unless he appeared before my girl or I. I'm not going to take the risk of hitting and innocent person.

I keep a mossberg 500 with a short barrel and pistol grips in my truck at all times with a tactical flashlight and laser mounted on rails. And another of the same gun next to my bed. It's the one gun that both me and my wife feel comfortable handling. I have not decided to carry personally yet.

*I haven't read through this entire thread.*

I've heard people saying that because he had body armor, another gun wouldn't hae stopped him. Of course it wouldn't have, but a 45ACP to the chest would knock his ass down and he'd have a grapefruit sized bruise.
