Anyone else heading out with their kid? Our eldest spawn is off to CU Boulder as a freshman. We are packing up his car, shoving off on Saturday and I'm going to captain the ship. Guessing mom may shed a few tears when we cast off. First port of call is Vegas, of course, no need to get ahead of ourselves. Maybe grab the boat out of storage for a jaunt on Mead while we are there. Then some of the most beautiful road trip scenery in the USA, IMHO, the canyon country of So. Utah and the Rockies. My retirement was timely, get to do a relaxing road trip to CO, stick around for a while and fly home when I dam well please.

Taking my oldest back to CU Boulder on the 21st. He will be a Sophomore and living in Bear Creek. You going to family weekend (Sept 19-21)? After listening to everyone we did not let the car go. With the bus system (works great) and parking the way it is, not worth it (plus parking is like 500 a year).

Yup, wife, daughter and I will join Matt for the family weekend and the football game against Hawaii. Noted on the parking . . . I just ponied up $400 for the pass. Just a warm up for the big chunks about to leave dad's wallet :eek

Yep. Just paid the fall invoice. Wish they would allow you to pay via a CC, could use those miles to fly him home for Thanksgiving.

It's that time of year huh.

We've made the trip up to CSU in Ft. Collins the last 3 years....

This year, my daughter will be a SENIOR!!!!. She is heading out to us from San Diego tomorrow morning with a friend, spending the night and then aiming her Jeep north. Glad I don't have to make the drive this year, but I will miss the trip and memories.

Leaving Wednesday (then back end of Sept. for family weekend)for NAU with my wife and son(freshman). Oh boy I can't wait for downpour of tears when we have to leave for home. She has been an emotional wreck for the last month. I think my son is just happy to being away to college and out of state truthfully.
I have to admit, it was hard for me to see him so sad and down when he had to say goodbye to his girlfriend. They get along awesome and she wasn't batshit crazy:thumbup:
(yet:D) Seriously I really like her, she's a great kid.

Best of luck to all and safe travels.

My wife is taking my oldest daughter to A.S.U (Barrett's)this afternoon. We're going to miss her. I have to stay and hold down the fort. I'm so proud of her. Hope for the best of luck to all our kids. Semper Fi Rob:thumbup:

A mini fridge filled with beer for when I go visit. Kyle can pay for it though. Don't worry.

Best advise is to go shopping away from the school. All the stores will be slammed around campus.

Besides the basic stuff (bedding), we got plastic baskets to take stuff to laundry and storage containers for under the bed and a small safe to lock stuff (passport, cash, etc) in.

That has to feel pretty good to be retired when the eldest heads off to school. Good job Dad!, enjoy it!

We're moving our youngest into her dorm at USC tomorrow. It's just 25 miles down the road, but Mom is a wreck , her baby is leaving the nest, and it'll be just her and I at home. Our older daughter will be a Sr. At Berkeley.

For a couple hundred bucks you can get them renter's insurance from your home insurance provider. Just in case that laptop takes an unwanted trip away.

I will be taking Friday off work and running my daughter up for her second year at SJSU, go Spartans. LOL

We just dropped our daughter off at Texas Tech in Lubbock. She will be 6hrs from home and I hated every moment. If she would have asked they could of kept the tuition and everything in her dorm and I would have brought her back home.
