My grand parents on both sides and parents, well not fans of Canadas flag. A little trivia. Our flag became official in 1965. The liberals decided we needed our own flag. Until 1965, Canada was under the British Union Jack still. Both grand fathers career military and both joined for WWII and both also served in Korea. Both still in the military when they changed our flag. My dad had just joined the Navy at 19, when they changed the flag. The conservatives opposed the flag change. My family is still on the conservatives side of the debate! To appease us conservatives. More trivia: the Union Jack is still an official flag of Canada. The rule is to be flown along side of the maple leaf on holidays like Canada Day, when we celebrate our British roots. More trivia. Our national anthem wasn't O Canada until 1982. To appease us conservatives, we have two anthems too. Our original was God Save The Queen. Its still an official anthem of Canada's military.

The way things are going in the states, I bet your liberals will adopt new flags and anthems too.

always liked this version better

Anyone that does not like our Flag can go F themselves as far as I am concerned....I don't give a shit about feelings about any person in this country including any third world POS or foreigner that comes to America, has a chance to become something, have a great life and then smack talks our Flag or what it stands for and wants us the change any of our traditions or history....

Council voted 4-1 to keep the flag.

Who was the one asshole that voted against it? Hopefully the citizens take note of that and get that moron out of there in the next election.

That hope is probably way too ambitious for any CA city any more though...

Although always surprising to me, many Americans regardless of current political affiliation still proudly fly and display in their homes, at state houses, and in parades the Flag of the Nation that attacked, killed and wounded more United States Soldiers and innocent United States civilians than all of WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam combined.

So everyone sort of has their own set of values. :(

This is crazy. My dad came to the USA in the 80s from all the wars going on. He is completely proud of the USA.

My dad is one of the few on our street that knows how to fly the USA flag properly. If anything is USA theme, he will walk over to it and properly buy it. He would not find this offensive. He would love to see the Corona Police cars with American theme car. My dad won’t even talk to anyone about what he saw growing up. I have heard stories from my grandma- that my grandpa and my dad during the wars has to turn their car into an ambulance. Picking up anyone hurt taking them to the hospital while he was a teenager.

He is so proud to be here and not worry about things like that. He always reminds me it’s a prilvedged. I was born in California so I don’t know anything about wars and etc. I don’t know which immigrants they are interviewing, but that is BS that they are offended.

This reminds of a story about a guy I worked with in the 80s. Anthony Tran came to the US in the late 70s I think, from Vietnam. We also worked with a guy I'll call Howard the Hippie. Anthony loved everything about his life here and worked his ass off to take care of his family members that he was able to move here. He didn't talk to much about life growing up in Vietnam. One day after some political event the hippie walks in to the room ranting and raving about how fucked up this country is. Anthony lost it. This guy who was normally quiet and respectful ripped the hippie a new asshole about bad it was in Vietnam and how much Howard should appreciate life as it is. How happy he was to have all of his family living a safe happy life. The hippie had nothing to say. That story has stuck with me.

She didn't vote to ditch the flag.. She was suggesting making it a larger image in the sticker.

This was the one that voted against keeping it as it is.. not ditching the flag.

Councilwoman Toni Iseman was the lone dissenter, suggesting the “I” in “Police” be changed from red to blue.

Ha, now that the article was posted, I see that and it's kind of funny all she wanted was a color change. Good for all five of them for standing up to idiot complainers.

Meanwhile, Chris Prelitz is a pussy of epic proportions who appears to need a boot to the chest...

Yeah don’t want to scare the illegals with ICE on the cars. That’s racist.

Are you denying the fact that some current US Citizens don't still proudly fly the Flag of the the Nation that killed more US Soldiers and Civilians than any other war American Soldiers fought in history?
