This is his answer to me:

Yes, I did sell WP to a great friend. I am building a motorsports park with Sand Drag racing, Motorcross, Kart racing, and a Sprint boat track. I will continue to hold my NYD at WP. We have many boats coming, so it should be a great turnout. Thanks so much for checking in. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Added a new boat to the family today.
First a little backstory.
For over 55 years, our family have been tied to Litchfield Custom Boats that were manufactured right here in Carlsbad since the early 60s.
To date we have owned 10 of them!
Many of you may have seen the 1962 boat that’s been for sale here on the boards. Well, today I closed the deal on it with the owner, along with his son, who bought it in 1963!
Looking forward to taking it back to its original paint and rigging even though most of it is still there. It will be fun to get it back to original.
This boat was the Litchfield brothers raceboat in 1962.
All their boats all the way up to the early eighties were called Benhad.
I started sweeping their shop on Saturdays when I was 10(1970) and it was there my passion for VDrive boats was born.
I hesitated to commit to it given all the projects I had lined up, but it had to be done.
Can’t wait to cruise the River with it!!

So glad this will happen on New Year’s Day! Since we quit GN racing I have been kind of out of loop. Good luck to Wade with his new project!

@old rigger
1986 Bonneville. I rescued it for 2500. It’s like brand new now. Wood Parkay floors and factory installed skeg before the intake. Not sure if that mean special order or not. Does this boat look familiar at all to you. Bought it from a man In Bay Area of cali. I love this boat.

I’d like to apologize for hijacking this thread with so many pics. I could not figure out how to send them private. I am excited to chat with Old Rigger and wanted to show him what I did with a Rogers.
We have a Hallett family boat. But this is going to be used as a little midweek ski boat for me and my son to take to kings river in Kingsburg after work. It’s got a BBC with all the goodies, got it from Scott Kornowski, with almost no hours on it. Dynoed at 590 Hp at 5800. It went 71 mph on Garmin at 5000rpm, and cruised 45 mph at 3100 rpm, on a little shake down run we did. Not a drop of water leaks and ran and rides awesome. Gets on plan at like 2800 rpm. Really happy with the pump and the hull. Could not be happier. Was surprised how fast it will turn, that skeg really bites!!
It should see 5400 / 5500 rpm when we get it all tuned and dialed in. JBP did all the Pump work ( fantastic work and people. Highly recommend) and final rigging. Love this boat. @old rigger would love to hear any thoughts memories or suggestions. It has factory ride plate, shoe, not sure about place diverter, the inducer, ( I assume factory looks that way) and pump blue print was done by JBP, it has everything but a droop - which I am contemplating after I get to drive it more than the 10-15 minutes I did at the shake down. Just wandering if that would free it up a bit more. It’s got an AB cut impeller. I like how it runs hard at lower rpm’s. The motor should turn that pump another 400rpm or so when it’s all dialed.
71 mph and under 21 ft. 😂 would like to see 78/80 mph and under 21 ft when the new AED carb gets here.

Great looking Rogers. I left Rogers in '85, (I did do side stuff for him on and off for years) it's unlikely I rigged yours although Roger did have the habit of moving the date of build forward a year for resale value for the customer so ya never know. Almost all hulls when I was there got a fin.

I think you're in good hands with Tom at JBP and would seek his advice about a droop. We rarely used them back in the day, more so at the shops I worked at later, and Roger felt he could run as fast with the correct shoe and ride plate. That was a long time ago, 40 odd years later the boats are faster and the engine's make a shit ton more power... possibly more power than a 40-50 year old hull should have. That's just me though and has nothing to do with the hull design and more about the integrity of the lay up. @cj222 is one who I'd reach out to and pick his brain if I were your. Like many on this site he's got crazy fucking skills, makes me very jealous when I see his work.

As much as I miss glass work I miss setting up intakes too. So much fun.

This is related to Roger but it's a Tahiti. He, Dick Schuster and Dick Clark were the guys that invented the v bottom jet. Clark worked for Berkeley and raced this boat which was not only the worlds fastest, still cracks me up, but ran the first droop. Clark told me they welded it up from sewer pipe. haha

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to this stranger. I have read every single post or reply you have ever made in regards to Rogers hulls. I agree with you on Tom @ JBP. He has been nothing but fantastic and great to work with. He has watched out for my project. Can’t say enough good things about his work on my Rogers. He also spoke highly of you. Being in the Central Valley I had to be honest,I had not heard of Rogers back in the day when we were younger and into it. Here near Fresno it was all Sangers, Halletts ( Visalia had a dealer) and Tahiti / Southwind /Hondo. We didn’t have all the high end stuff at the lakes like SoCal, aside from Sangers and Halletts.
I can’t get over how nice the 18’ Bonneville rides in lake water, small chop etc. The boat turns like no other 70’s era jet bait I have ever driven before. (Sanger super jet - Hallett 19’6” sprint deck and Southwind 20’6” are the boats I have experienced or owned. The Rogers Rides every bit as nice and is as solid as I remember the Hallett to be. Zero porpoise as I remember from the Sanger and juts way more solid, zero deck flex or vibration as remember from my beloved Southwind. The Rogers feels solid like the Hallett, but super nimble and respo. is it considered a heavy boat or lighter hull, like a Southwind maybe? In terms of weight?

I can see the deeper v at the front and assume that’s why it’s so nice riding. Just overall a beautiful shape. I had been looking for one of the above to restore when I found the Rogers. I’m super glad I did. From all I learned I really lucked out. I love the boat and doubt I will ever sell it. I have so much into it, I look forward to many years of having fun with it.
Thanks again for all the info and I look forward to anything else you share. Take care

Ps it was the shake down run. We did have to tighten the scoops wing nut Aside from that, I’d say about perfect. 🤣👍🏼

Very curious where some of those jet boats ended up. Really interesting hull designs.
