You have no idea
Welcome to Texas. I hope you and your family learn to love it.

We already love it. We have ventured out here 4 other times and we just cant get over the hospitality! More than any other place we've been. that was a huge reason in the decision to raise our young family here.

Funny, but completely understandable that many Texans worry about the blue creep coming from leftist states, corrupting the TX political system.

Good news is that aside from job transfers, the high majority of transplants are the reds who are fed up with their liberal states of residence. They are seeking asylum from socialist communism.

Looking forward to assimilating into TX culture.

The stock yards is a cool place. We stayed at the hotel right there in the background when we moved my buddy to Justin Tx in December. We went back and visited them in March and he brought home 407 BBQ. OMG! I even had it for breakfast the next morning. We also went to hard 8 bbq but I didn’t think it was as good as 407. Also the NRS in Decatur TX is the Bass pro shop of the equestrian world damn did we drop some coin and about 3 hours there. Stopped a leeper creek Bbq on the 287 on the way home it was pretty damn good also. Hopefully going back soon to Visit I just have to save up some more cash before we hit NRS again.

Welcome! You are hitting some of the good places. 407 BBQ is a couple of miles from the house. Awesome BBQ. if you are into BBQ Heim Barbecue in Ft. Worth and Meat U Anywhere in Grapevine are great. Looks like the kids have discovered Buc-ees, that's awesome. There is so much to do in he stockyards. The stockyards hotel has saddles you can sit in at the bar. Joe T Garcia's is a good Mexican place with awesome outdoor dining. The good lakes our your way are Possum Kingdom Lake or Lake Granbury. If you are feeling adventurous down the road Lake Texoma has islands and nice beaches, and up in Oklabama there is Lake Murray.

Wow. I checked out the Springtown area on Realtor.com. You get a lot of bang for your buck there. Real houses with a proper size lot. Not to far from several lakes.

Well! We made it. All in all it was a good trip considering call the people involved to make it happen. Yes people have commented about our friendships and people being willing to help out and yes it was a truly a blessing without them it would not have happened. We have been here a week now and you guys cannot imagine the hospitality that we have received in the short week. The first day we pulled in the neighbor allowed us to park on his lot because of all the vehicles that we had. The following day another neighbor brought us over farm fresh eggs and introduced himself. The following day another neighbor brought over homemade cookies and everybody has been nice and inviting. I know more Neighbors in one week that I knew in 3 years of my last home.

My wife had wrote down a couple things that happened to us on our way here. On our way in she stopped at Walmart to get us some beer and whatnot for when we arrived. She let a gentleman that had a pair of flip-flops go around them so he could purchase instead of waiting for them. He then proceeded to scan a case of beer on his tab and said no deed goes unpunished. I also needed a dolly to get the gun safe out of the trailer and found one at a local Goodyear U-Haul. He said here you go you can have it when you going to bring it back no name no number just basically bring it back! Went to dinner at one of the barbecue restaurants downtown and our friend sent their son up to get another soda with a couple dollars and came back with a couple dollars and the soda and was told that the lady at the register said that they could just have the soda. I know it's simple and not that big a deal but that stuff just doesn't happen at home.

We are now here and getting settled in there are a couple things that we didn't foresee happening it's going to take obviously longer to get a shop and barn up faster than we wanted to and we are out in the country so back to reality with the internet. Also little things like signing up Utilities in new area and how much they want to sign up no matter what your credit score is.

My family and I already settling in pretty quick the kids are riding the hay burners at local events this last weekend and I'm back to work full time. School starts in 3 weeks then we will see how that process goes. We are about 40 minutes west of Fort Worth 30 minutes north of Weatherford. Anybody thinking of making a move out of any place regardless of just California that's going to make them happier or give them better opportunities I say go for it we will see what the future holds and I will post more pictures as we go up with buildings and whatnot but as you guys saw and my previous pictures and text it can be done!

There was some things that stood out when we first got here obviously the humidity was different than what we have at home but not unbearable. They were going through a heatwave when we got here they said that it was the hot. And the bugs oh man bugs are definitely bigger in Texas that's for sure! But all in all we are off to the good start!

Congratulations on the move ! What kind of acreage you get? If you build a shop make it at least 50 percent bigger than you think you need.

Well as i get that. It also comes down to finance. As of now shop will bE 30x40 with a 12' x 30 patio and a 16x40 carport for the rv. And we're on 2.5 acres in a community with about 30 houses.

Welcome to the free country of Tx. Go buy guns. It’s so easy. Pick up a couple suppressors.

Congratulations in escaping to the Great State of Texas!

There’s nothing like packing up EVERYTHING you own (every single thing) - we did it twice in one year.

You did amazingly well and you sure are blessed to have friends who’d help you and drive you there.

Wish Y’ALL a great life in Texas

You are way north of me. Wish I had a recommendation for a builder out your way.

Two words:
Bug spray

The skeeters are no joke here.
Y’all look to be a bit outside of city limits, can you shoot on your property?

That’s what I’m looking for. What is the criteria to be able to shoot on your property? But wife doesn’t want the boonies.

Depends on local ordinances.
Here’s a good place to start:

I’m on a good Texas gun forum.
If you’re into shooting, check it out [emoji106]

Congratulations, neighbor. Glad everything went well.

We're T-2 days, heading a little further east, toward the Mckinney area. Ready for o close on a 4.3 acre property with plans to put up a 30x50 or 40x60 pole barn for the toys. Cannot wait!

Have some friends that live in that area. Good luck on your venture. You wont regret it!
