Tesla vs. Dually

Today while driving Northbound on 5fwy in Mission Viejo a Tesla decided they wanted to change lanes into my Dually. It didn’t end well for them.
He was going slow in the fast lane so I passed him on the right. I wasn’t going much faster than him. Just as I’m side by side with him I feel my truck jump to the right. When we pulled over he was yelling at me that my fender hit him from behind. SMH

As you can see there was no damage to rear of his car. Thankfully his pretty wife calmed us both down and convinced us insurance would handle it. My word against his so I know my insurance will have to pay half of his repairs. I won’t even get the small scratch on my wheel fixed, I may just do it myself. Chip was laughing when he realized my dual wheel did all that damage with no issue to my truck.

fuck that. any time your insurance has to pay, you end up paying in the end. make sure his insurance accepts full fault. tell your insurance that you will not accept any fault and they will have to fight. Legally, they need your permission or a court decision to settle.

If CHP was called you will get dinged on carfax no matter how minor. Make sure you get diminished valve from the insurance co. Cost me 4k on my 17 F350 dually when something similar happed to me.

I like the tesla and will likely end up with an EV at some point but I have a freind on his 3rd Tesla and he said " I can't imagine ever driving a normal car again, I could never drive a car where I need to be so engaged "

This is not just a Tesla problem but people are SOOOOO distracted on the road today.

My friend's wife has one of the fancy ones. She took a chunk of metal to the hood a while ago. It popped up on the freeway from the tires of the vehicle in front of her. No one at fault really. Made a decent dent, but nothing major. It cost like $8000 to fix!

you must first set it up and have a usb stick formatted and installed... for us tech challenged setting it up and retrieving the video is a challenge....

I was rolling down a narrow residential street in my work van. Car coming the other way wasn't getting o er so I darted into a street parking spot in front of a Tesla. Apparently to early/close and caught the front wheel well with the hinge on my side door. Tore the fender and front end clean off. Didn't even scratch my van.
Over $10k in damage to the Tesla.
