That’s the one.
I can already tell it’s going to be great!
You don't get a lot of dbl lot builds in that row do you? can't seem to recall many but haven't been through in years.
There’s a few. But not many, no.You don't get a lot of dbl lot builds in that row do you? can't seem to recall many but haven't been through in years.
Ha I wouldn't take that bet.... right TanksterSad seeing the dumpsters out front. Bet all the mahogany flooring & casework went in the dumpster.
New build will have MDF, particle board, and fake laminates.

The best part about that level of money, there are many contractors making money. Hopefully they're paying their best guys good money to do their best, to hook the next "Hollywood" custom build! Not a thread jack just wanted to show you guys some of the crazy money and build stuff going on in Corona del Mar ....[Fuck you money town] This lot had a 4 story house on it down to water line. Somebody bought it and tore house down... what you're looking at is the steel structure they built after demo thats only purpose was to sustain the cranes weight why they buried steel poles in earth 19' deep. The actual home plans are for a circular home sticking out off cliff designed to resemble the Iron Mans last movie where he had that crazy home on cliff that got blown up. This new owner actually identified and then called Hollywood guy who came up with that design in movie so he could have his architect copy that. can't wait to see this thing! View attachment 1259244
Yup.... I've got nothing but $10-20M homes on cliffs around me and entire neighborhood seems to be under construction constantly. Our local custom home guys keep an entire economy going for the workers it seems. I'm moving out of my place for some quiet time for next year. The apartment unit I've occupied needs a total reno after 23 years... older beach building and floors need to get ripped up, all new appliances and then rented out to paying tenant. The best part about that level of money, there are many contractors making money. It's only money, and you can't take it with you!
Must be a CDM thing. There is already a house that reminds me of the “Iron Man” house on Ocean and Heliotrope-ish. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone occupying it either. Not a thread jack just wanted to show you guys some of the crazy money and build stuff going on in Corona del Mar ....[Fuck you money town] This lot had a 4 story house on it down to water line. Is that the one with kind of a radiused entry/garage gate thing?Must be a CDM thing. There is already a house that reminds me of the “Iron Man” house on Ocean and Heliotrope-ish. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone occupying it either.
Yeah I know that one .... some cool architecture going on.... from what I can see over my 33 years here those front row houses are owned by folks who most likely have multiple homes perhaps around the globe even .... they stay empty an awful lot and those owners don't even consider renting em out.... serious Fuck You Money. I was just told a home on either Linda or Harbor Island just got listed for ~ $75M I believe it's the 'Suicide House" if ya know that local story.Must be a CDM thing. Looks awful tight to the next structure.
Not a lot of room between houses beach front.Looks awful tight to the next structure.
Saves you from having to buy windows for two sides of the house. Not a lot of room between houses beach front.
Beach front homes here have a side yard that’s maybe 3’ wide on each property. So, like 6-7’ between houses. You joke, but the houses are built in a manner that one side usually won’t have any windows or at least very few. Or if you’re mid block, not a lot of windows on either side but then again, when this is your back yard, who wants to look out the side?!Saves you from having to buy windows for two sides of the house.
I get the view thoughts but the fire safety aspect just makes me shake my head. I belong to a boat club and most keep semi-permanent campers on site. Ohio law requires a minimum of 15 feet between each for that purpose. I could be wrong but I can't think of any instance where building codes here allow placement that close as well.Beach front homes here have a side yard that’s maybe 3’ wide on each property. I’ve lived on this beach since 81 when we moved from Malibu. Never in my life have I seen a fire jump house to house here. Not saying it couldn’t happen, but I’ve never seen it. But you’re right, the actual spacing between the houses is probably wider but the walkways are tiny. They’re usually an “entrance side” that is wider and a backside that is seemingly shoulder width wide from house to wall. I don’t know what the actual set back is.I get the view thoughts but the fire safety aspect just makes me shake my head. I belong to a boat club and most keep semi-permanent campers on site. Thats a fact.... toilets flushing and folks having marital skirmishes the norm. Not a lot of room between houses beach front.
Thats the attitude right thereSaves you from having to buy windows for two sides of the house.

Realestate here at shore been Very Very good to this ole boy. But ya gotta be nice to your neighbors for sure.Beach front property kind of makes sense. If you like the lot and location, go for it.
A couple bought a house two blocks from my parents. A week later the demo crew showed up and took it down to the floor joists. Nice neighborhood, 1/2 acre lots, but they paid top dollar to buy it and then spent a ton to rebuild it.
We bought a place in a nice neighborhood, paid the cost for the lot and pool. House was OK, but figured we could demo it and build a place and break even. A couple of remodels and we are way ahead.
Love todays use of space planning and architecture... they really are hitting some things outta the park... especially when budgets go out windows. Basically if owner can picture it, they'll build it. I have a ambulance chasing atty buddy on Nprt peninsula that built his custom as you described where entire first floor is see through from alley where he pulls into garage with see through sectional into kitchen/ livingroom/ dining room. The clear divider keeps any vehicle fumes confined to garage. Very slick concept. He additionally removed a load bering verticle beam in upstairs level so his view from master bedroom would be unobstructed out to the ocean. [Brought in the heavy steel I'm guessing] I mean who wants to look at that while getting knob polished, am I right.Progress. This thing is gonna be a monster! 3 stories. Last one was only 2 stories. Looks like one side is gonna be 2 stories with huge ceiling for im guessing the living room and kitchen. Bet they’ll put floor to ceiling sliders all the way across. Open the whole room right to the beach. It also looked like the garage is double car double deep.
I always pitched to builder friends around here the idea that the back wall of the garage should be glass with a game room and bar behind it closest to the beach. So when you pull into the garage you immediately look out on the beach and water and when you’re in your game / bar room you look into you high end cars in your finished off garage.
I’m gonna sneak into it in a few weeks and get the layout

Shame all that wood got rained on .... seasonal timing on builds is everything. Coming along regardless ....
… Really a shame if that is pressboard that got rained on… (looking on my phone, so kind a hard to tell)…Really a shame if they used press board for sheer…Shame all that wood got rained on .... seasonal timing on builds is everything. Coming along regardless ....
How the hell does a modern house like that burn in a wildfire ??? Plants are green, no brush, was it the roof vents or some feature that trapped sparks ? Having lost a house in a wildfire, I'm pretty observant about what not to do --- and many of these places that burned are rather perplexing as there's no observable reason ---- other than possibly the home next door.Shotgun beach house. This is done all over the place. Front street homes on Maui were like this. This one is not as tight but they maximized the views of the ocean. Sadly this house finished in 2019 was lost in the Lahaina Fires…

It doesn't meet rdp building standards. You go straight to jail. That's gonna be absolutely amazing.
The views will be to die for.
It’s definitely not gonna suck. That's gonna be absolutely amazing.

It's California, there ain't no press board on site, the chemicals alone make it illegal. Struct. 1 for everything.… Really a shame if that is pressboard that got rained on… (looking on my phone, so kind a hard to tell)…Really a shame if they used press board for sheer…
