In 2011, 'Yellowstone' creator Taylor Sheridan was working as an actor and down to his last $800.
When his attorney attempted to negotiate a pay raise for his role as Deputy Chief David Hale in FX's 'Sons of Anarchy,' an exec told him:
"He probably deserves to make more, but we’re not going to pay him more... There are 50 of him. He is #11 on the call sheet. That’s what that guy is and that’s all he’s ever going to be."
That was the final insult that convinced Sheridan "I didn’t want to be #11 on the call sheet for the rest of my life.”
So he got to writing, and four years later, he'd turned in a screenplay that became Denis Villeneuve's highly acclaimed 'Sicario' (2015).
The following year, Sheridan racked up award nominations for David Mackenzie’s 'Hell or High Water' (2016) starring Chris Pine and Ben Foster; before making his own directorial debut with 'Wind River' (2017).
The real game-changer, however, was when he co-created one of the most successful modern television franchises: 'Yellowstone.'
The five-season run, featuring Kevin Costner, has already spawned two spin-off shows, and has three more under development.
These results convinced Paramount to let him produce five more passion projects — 'Mayor of Kingstown,' 'Tulsa King,' 'Special Ops: Lioness,' 'Lawmen: Bass Reeves,' and the forthcoming 'Landman.'
Today Taylor Sheridan is worth over $200 million and is the proud owner of the historic Texas Four Sixes Ranch, which he now rents out to Paramount to film some of his shows.
How's that for being #11 on the call sheet?

I just hope the 6666's spinoff is not just about Jimmy, don't think he could carry a storyline
The first 3 episodes were based on the early part of when the ranch was built.
Not sure where the next season will go with the plot.

After watching Sicario, (written by Taylor Sheridan) a few times over the years you start to notice that disturbing creepy low drone sound from the theme song is used in many different shows in various forms. It has this oppressive ominous feel to it. It is downright scary. Link below, give it a listen. Pay attention during various scenes in the films and shows you watch, you will notice that other composers have adapted a version of that sound to buildups of scary scenes.

It was written by Johan Johansson. He was a prolific composer and has written tons of soundtrack songs. He was Icelandic. He unfortunately passed in 2018.

It starts slowly, turn it up.

The Spielberg effect. Taking an average shot of a horse running through a field, and then add this grand overture. Next thing you know everybody in the theaters is crying. Lol.

FUCKING LOVE that!!! it gives me chills and the way they use it with B roll is fuckin epic!!!

I really, REALLY enjoy the way he incorporates real people into Yellowstone. Like the bit maker from season 5 episode 1 (who unfortunately passed) and the Cory guy that was chatting with rip when they arrived at 6666. Real cowboys. You can tell they’re not professional actor's and he’s sprinkled them in through the whole show. And the way he shoots the scenery and interaction he’s a fuckin stud at capturing the essence of moment of the actual topic. Watching the first episode of season 5 last night was like watching two shows. The beauty of what these hard ass cowboys do still and then a whole other show with the drama of the Dutton family.

Guys a great architecture of cinema for sure. I do think he gets distracted at times and maybe has too many irons in the fire at times.

I was always curious as to whose ego was causing all the issues between Sheridan and Costner. Costner comes off in interviews and stuff as very laid back, seemed out of character to be difficult. And Sheridan being the new “cocky” guy with all this rapid success I just presumed it was Sheridan being a dick but I now kinda think it was Costner. Then again, could’ve just been both. Sheridan handled that shit and moved on pretty quickly though lol. You don’t want to show up for filming, cool, bye.

Is he going to be the next Elmore Leonard? I haven’t gone to deeply into any of the shows except part of Yellowstone. But are all these stories, the same premise with different characters and timelines?
You know, like days of thunder was exactly top gun except with race cars instead of fighter jets?

Based on what I have read, it was both.
Costner - had a contract that stated the schedule for filming and scheduled projects around that.
Sheridan - took forever to rewrite portions of Yellowstone to extend the series and set filming around his other shows.

Neither was flexible on adjusting schedules when it became apparent the schedules conflicted. Costner‘s contracted dates for filming Yellowstone expired and the proposed filming contract was not agreed to by Sheridan. So in my mind, both egos got in the way.

Or contractual obligations.

Since this is a boating website - Costner has had at least one Radon. Don Radon custom built it for him. Lord knows, Costner could afford a lot more than a Radon. Apparently, that’s what he wanted. Believe, particularly for diving.

I’ve heard he had a sweet custom built radon. Makes sense since they’re built in Santa Barbara and he lived in Santa Barbara. He’s got a pretty sick old school racing sloop sailboat too.

Not sure if someone mentioned this already but Taylor Sheridan owns the 6666 and plays Travis, the yoked owner in the show.

He needs to stay out of his shows. A random episode guest spot might be one thing but trying to be a super unrealistic character is lame. If he had stayed out of Lioness and not tried to come in like Rip and he were best friends their whole lives in Yellowstone he probably wouldn’t bug me so much. Great shows though.
