Over the weekend I was building a tire rack for my jeep.Well my six year old son has an interest in welding so I i buy him his own welding helmet so he can watch. So I turned him loose with the welder (with my supervision of course)and he is pretty good at it.Sorry for the phone image but it was the only thing I had at the time.I am so proud of my son.:thumbsup

I was welding up a small exhaust leak in my driveway a while back. Crawled out from under the car and took off my helmet and was surprised to see the 7 year old neighbor boy and his little cousin standing about three feet away with their jaws wide open and stunned expressions on their faces. He just says "That was the coolest thing I've ever seen!" and the little girl just says "Uhh..Yeah". Sounded exactly like Bevis & Butthead. It was a short bead, so hopefully they won't go blind. :D

I wanted to learn when I was little...probably about 5-6 years old. I started really hounding my dad until finally he folded.

He had one of his employees show me. Ahhh, good old dad....such an inspiration to my parenting. His philosophy....If you don't know how to do something you can always.......?

Purchase it.

That's pretty darn cool you're teaching him.

Good Job! My wifes dad is 70 and has been a welder fabricator his whole life and has been teaching my son to weld since he was 6 and he is now 10. My son wants to be able to build his own dune buggy someday. :thumbsup

That's great - very cool.

Can't wait to read your post next week of how he welded something onto your Jeep :D "But Dad I was only trying to fix it for you!"

It's not the money you spend on your kids, its the time spent doing great things like this. Your son will remember this as a great day for the rest of his life.
