Have those things around our property. They have never been aggressive (thank gawd!)

Always feel bad for their victims.

Have a sand area on the property. Not deep sand. A buddy jumped one legged on top of a T hawk in a flip flop. Full weight, knee bend , then straigten and step off. The T Hawk shook it off, wobbled and then flew away. Everyone said, “Ooooo” and then stepped back.

Formidable little beasts!

I got one in my shirt on a bike ride a few weeks ago, almost had a heart attack! Supposedly its one of the most painful insect stings, but not deadly.

We've zapped them electric fly swatters, they spark and smoke then fly away when you turn off the juice.😬

This thread reminds me. Have you ever seen the Velvet ants? Apparently the bite is 2nd to only the tarantula hawk.

Just seen one at our Family house on the south side of town . My wife is the type that has me come over and get rid of any bugs that she comes across. When she called me on this one, this was the first one I had to second guess how I was going to kill it 😂. It’s a little dirty from the battle we endured…..

So is it in the fridge still? May need a new fridge. Gonna eat all your leftovers and drink your beer too 😂

I'd never seen them before moving out here. Never seem to act aggressive, but I give them their space.
Wrapped him with a dish towell, let him fly.
Wife was freaking, I'm asking her WTF she can only scream one of those THINGS!
Centipede?
🪳?
Scorpion?

Tarantula Hawk?

YES!!!

How did it get in the fridge?🤣

Just last weekend at Emerald I had one in the foot dip bucket. Yep good and dead and near 2" long. So I dumped the bucket and replaced the water.

Glad he was good and dead.....fail.

About an hr later that thing crawled across the small patio and flew away o_O o_O o_O o_O

Next time its a lighter and WD40.

The wife has gotten stung twice by them.
Both time camping at pirate cove.
She is not a fan. LOL

My wife saw one land on my daughter once on the beach at Pirates. At first she was like “that’s an interesting bug” but decided to flick it off her. Found out later what it was and wife/daughter both about had a heart attack 🤣

We're at Pirates now. One just flew in our motorhome... Flew in when the wife opened door coming back from the beach. Killed that bitch like it owed me money.

Just so everyone's aware like the majority of wasps, these too also have a photographic memory.
They can hold that memory of your face for about a week.

These things are a true fuck around and find out.
