. . . do they make one in 220 volt? 😈

Kidding aside, I'm just about over this f'ing lab. . . . I've had her 18 months and she's still completely out of control. (she's about 3 years old now)
Yes . . I'm a shitty dog owner, to get that out of the way.

Had to take her to the 24 hour vet at midnight last week cause she was wailing in pain . . . . thought she ate something . . . . nope, it was 'cold tail' . . . again, from swimming too much at the beach.

Took her to our regular vet the next day . . . been going to him for over 25 years . . . he says to me, "Labs usually slow down about 5 or 6 days after they pass". 😆🖕

So before I toss in the towel on 'Shitbag' , I'd like to try an E-Collar on her. . . or whatever the things are. I'm looking for suggestions on the the most heavy duty model, that HAS to be waterproof.

I don't really care what it costs . . . I'll sell off some camera gear to pay for the fucking thing, since the stupid dog doesn't allow me to do much photography anymore anyways.

thanks in advance for an rec's on good e-collars. ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡

Never heard of cold tail.
It's got a bunch of different names . . . not much really known about it. Semi-common in labs.
I guess it's a dog version of sciatica for lack of a better description. usually associated with 'water' in some ways.
Some say it's back around where the ass meets the tail . . . that area gets worked from swimming, and or shaking off water etc.

It was funny the first time she got it . . . I make her sit before she eats . . . she tried to sit & yelped ! . . . then looked at me like, "Just give me the food fucker" !

IDK sht about labs, but my buddy said his was his best friend. I asked what about me, you've only had her three years.

His answer was ....... will you swim across a frozen lake to get a duck I just shot? I had a pretty normal answer F*CK no. he replied, She will. 🤣

My 11yo coonhound likes to bark at us, she doesn't bark in the back yard at a leaf or anything just us and the doorbell. She also still has a lot of fukin energy but is very well behaved.

Good luck with that e collar.
How much disipline training has she had?
Labs like to please so which ever behavior you reward with attention and praise the more you will get. They need to be exercised/worked a lot to help calm them. She will eventually calm down some In another year or so. Do you plan to breed her? That might calm her too.
As you've seen, labs are very high energy and as such are prone to injury due to their explosive energy nature. Have you heard of the TPLO surgery? Start saving $$$ for that now because it's highly likely in your future and rather expensive.

Our dog will get it if he swims to much. He doesn't cry about it thought he just chews on the exact spot you mentioned, right where the tail meets the ass. He has to deal with it cause he cant stay out of the water when he see's it.🤦‍♂️

My Trainer preferred Dogtra. In Garden Grove not far from king shocks. I will called in the order and picked it up there. Shipped is free but needed it asap for class.

I have a German Shorthaired Pointer.

We’ve had our collar her whole life. I think they replaced one about a month or so OUTSIDE the warranty. Never replaced since then. Waterproof 👍

Use the collar regularly. Use the shock as low and as infrequent as possible. Use the beep function as much as possible.

Our dog loves it now. She knows it means we’re going somewhere. She only gets a zap at 2 or 3 out of 7 when she’s being a little shit and ignoring multiple commands in a row.

If done right, the dogs are excited to put it on and they are better behaved when they’re wearing it without any beeps or zaps.

I suggest getting training. Not only for the dog, but also you. You need to learn how and when to use the collar. Our huskies were un-walkable before we hired Sit Means Sit. Highly recommended. We have Dogtra and Garmin

We had a Chocolate Lab that would bark non stop at night and tried using a collar to limit the excessive barking. It would even piss off our Black Lab it was so bad.

The pain from the shock would make make her wail rather than bark. But she would still bark. Fairly quickly we realized the collar was not going to work.

The unintended consequence was that even years after the collar was gone she forever switched her bark to an even more annoying wail that sounded like she was being stabbed. We would have been happy to have the bark back, but she never barked again, it was the just always that death wail.

Total fail LOL :)

+1 for SportDog products, I have one for my lab and we use it anytime he's outside of most any reason. I don't have to shock very often, if at all anymore to be honest. This collar is set to vibrate and that is sufficient to get his attention.

He likes it because it means we are going to go do something fun! You can get them with various ranges and features.

And the units are water proof so he can wear it playing in the lake.

Sounds like swimmers tail, my lab will get the same issue if we let him go balls out at the lake 🤣. Learned our lesson and we now make him take breaks on the shore during the day to give his tail a bit of a rest. Labs use that big strong tail to help them swim, like a rudder, so it gets a workout in the water.

I have Dogtra and a dual remote so I can control both of my lab's collars simultaneously (primarily for hunting). Don't use an e-collar unless you strategically know how to use them! They are a tool that needs to be respected as it will absolutely ruin a dog. My old lab usually behaves just having the collar on, but she's a tough stubborn bitch and if she's on a birds scent I will at times need to moderately use it to slow her down a tad. My younger lab if you shock her it will absolutely destroy her confidence and isn't needed. For her all you need to do is very occasionally use the vibrate function. I haven't shocked her in probably 3-4 years. One thing is that both of these dogs are well trained and were sent to at least 4 months of training as puppies.

This is big. Remember, it’s not a punishment device. It’s to get their attention so they know to listen to a command.

Never heard of cold tail.
Took Huck to an abandoned gravel pit and played fetch with a stick for a while, spring but the water was still really cold.
Next day wife brings him home from doggie day care and says the owner there told her Huck has rudder tail, first time I ever heard of it.

They are but loyal AF. While I love her unconditionally she will be our first and last Coonhound, lots of work with her, very stubborn breed. She's actually German shepherd/Black and Tan Coonhound mix, we rescued her from a GS rescue as a puppy, she was that last one. They had mom (full blood Coonhound) and all the pups, they were told dad was a GS. I agree. Her bark is GS but if she gets too excited it turns into a Coonhound howl 🤣 and is loud AF.

She really is a great dog, after we go to bed she comes over to me every night, she jumps up, front paws on the bed and does a cuddle good night with me, she started that, not me.
