I have a bottle jack with a welded up extension that slips over the top of the bottle jack.
it’s works and it’s in a small package but it’s kind ghetto.

i really want the manual AGM but haven’t dropping the duckets for it.

the quickest way is to winch the car up on 2 wheels and have a impact gun to zip zip the old off and new on

The AGM jacks are badass and that's what I have on my class 10. They are worth every penny.

I have been looking at those but the price is crazy. I'm leaning towards modifying a scissor jack and using a cordless impact. It is smaller to pack too.

This. Have a friend with a car and a tow strap to tip you up. I keep a tow strap in the car so I’m covered there.

I also have this scissor jack. It’s aluminum so it only weighs a few pounds.

I need to make an extension for it, but it has worked great up to now with a couple pieces of wood.

If you carry a jack, what type?
Not try to lecture
but

For newbi’s

you should always have a

spare tire
1st aid kit
some basic tools
drinks hydration Food
jackets /tarp for bad weather rain
tow strap and items to connect tow strap ( soft ties are great at Harbor Freight )

plug kit and a air compressor works really well M12 air compressor and a impact gun are what I use. Ryobi has some also

end of lecture!

proceed with the thread

Any good affordable jack options? I’ve got everything except the jack.

Having the spare tire is nice but I’ve also got a plug kit so any small durable air compressors would also be nice to know about?

My friends all call me MacGyver so I already have all those items and more. Just looking for jack ideas to replace a tall bottle jack. I plan to mount it on the rack over the bed on my general 4.

Wait to you try and use it in the desert, especially if the car is on a angle. It gets really sketchy and dangerous fast. Been there done that.

I haven’t been in that situation yet but yea.. it’s not ideal for every scenario.
I have wood I use it with make it more stable. I want to fab up some cups for it to lock onto a lift point a little better.

I have a mill and lathe and am thinking about modifying or even making a scissor jack to be more secure under a control arm or ball joint and adding a bigger removeable base to make it more stable. Maybe even fab a couple different attachments for different purposes.

You might need to weld up an extension or a mount for a jack

can am is jack is no longer available

Check out what I just found. Looks pretty cool and it's cheap.

I found that too and can make one pretty easy too. Looks to make changing a tire simple and should be somewhat stable but I think the screw jack might give me more options for other purposes if something unforseen happens.
I like having options.

100%. Changing tire's is one thing, but having a jack for vehicle repairs and getting unstuck is priceless!

BTW, if you decide to go the AGM route, 4 wheel parts has the best prices.

I’m in the same town and I’m thinking a pocket full of cash and stopping by for a tour of the plant might be the best bang of the buck….

or maybe a

RDP DEMO might be a good angle!

I use a scissor Jack with a modified end for an impact. I carry a 4x4 and a 1’x1’ piece of mdf for sand to help with it. Is it great? Hardly but it gets the job done. Piece of advice with any Jack try to be on level stable ground as much as possible. If that means driving on the flat for 1/2 a mile then so be it. Just go slow.

AGM is badass. But damn it’s pricey. I’m in at half that cost.

Pro eagle air Jack looks nice too and it’s small

i just cant see how an AGM is $1k? I mean shit its a jack. I would expect that from a full hydraulic systems

it looks like a trailer jack with a different top, and base. then a collar to grab the body

@DLC You sparked an idea. I'm gonna buy one of these today and see what I need to do to modify it. I'll make my son fab up some parts as needed.
They work great for utv’s when modified. I was making these for a while with unlimited adjustments and plenty of lift. Made universal “hangers” that hung on the jack body for different jack points. Did major surgery to drop the weight to 1/5 of the starting weight.

Also thinking of making some adjustable Tressell Jack's. No moving parts but adjustable for different heights.

I rarely wheel alone, we just use our tow strap to pull a car on its side to change flats/fix wheels

Weld a 1/2 diameter pin on rear of lower arms in front and then same at rear of the trailing arms on the sxs. Then weld a tube to the top of a scissor jack, also weld a nut to the scissor jack the same as your lug nuts. Carry an impact, can also use a breaker bar, just definitely takes a bit more time.

If you can make the drop out part out of aluminum that will save some weight. Drill some holes in it. Use thinner gauge material…
HF was out of stock on the model I wanted, so I will have to wait. My Kid is in Reno, so I may ask him to go and buy one and see what he comes up with.

Same can be said for agm when your drill battery dies
your right. i firmly believe in carrying back ups. especially for anything that takes a battery or air and preferably a manually operated version. 1 is none and 2 is 1.
