If you carry a jack, what type?
What if there are no trees and your by yourself?I have a bottle jack with a welded up extension that slips over the top of the bottle jack.
it’s works and it’s in a small package but it’s kind ghetto.
i really want the manual AGM but haven’t dropping the duckets for it.
the quickest way is to winch the car up on 2 wheels and have a impact gun to zip zip the old off and new on
By myself is the bottle jack! What if there are no trees and your by yourself?
they are bad ass! And are TOP Notch! The AGM jacks are badass and that's what I have on my class 10. They are worth every penny.
You aren't going fast enough.they are bad ass! And are TOP Notch!
Honestly I’m going to jinx myself but HERE Goes ….. I haven’t used a jack for my car!
now I’m going to get a flat for sure.
I have been looking at those but the price is crazy. I'm leaning towards modifying a scissor jack and using a cordless impact. It is smaller to pack too.The Manual Jack 2.0 | AGM-Products

Not try to lectureIf you carry a jack, what type?
My friends all call me MacGyver so I already have all those items and more. Just looking for jack ideas to replace a tall bottle jack. I plan to mount it on the rack over the bed on my general 4.Not try to lecture
but
For newbi’s
you should always have a
spare tire
1st aid kit
some basic tools
drinks hydration Food
jackets /tarp for bad weather rain
tow strap and items to connect tow strap ( soft ties are great at Harbor Freight )
plug kit and a air compressor works really well M12 air compressor and a impact gun are what I use. Ryobi has some also
end of lecture!
proceed with the thread
Any good affordable jack options? I’ve got everything except the jack.
Having the spare tire is nice but I’ve also got a plug kit so any small durable air compressors would also be nice to know about?
Wait to you try and use it in the desert, especially if the car is on a angle. It gets really sketchy and dangerous fast. Been there done that.This. Have a friend with a car and a tow strap to tip you up. I keep a tow strap in the car so I’m covered there.
I also have this scissor jack. It’s aluminum so it only weighs a few pounds.
I need to make an extension for it, but it has worked great up to now with a couple pieces of wood.

I have one of those too but they are just too bulky and heavy and not the safest jack either.Hi-Lift® UTV/SxS Jack - Hi-Lift Jack Co.

I agree, that's why we use the AGM jack.I have one of those too but they are just too bulky and heavy and not the safest jack either.
I haven’t been in that situation yet but yea.. it’s not ideal for every scenario.Wait to you try and use it in the desert, especially if the car is on a angle. It gets really sketchy and dangerous fast. Been there done that.
I’m leave Thursday for a 500 mile ride….You aren't going fast enough.
Go knock on wood because I think you just F'ed yourself!
You might need to weld up an extension or a mount for a jackI have a mill and lathe and am thinking about modifying a scissor jack to be more secure under a control arm or ball joint and adding a bigger removeable base to make it more stable. Maybe even fab a couple different attachments for different purposes.
I found that too and can make one pretty easy too. Looks to make changing a tire simple and should be somewhat stable but I think the screw jack might give me more options for other purposes if something unforseen happens.Check out what I just found. Looks pretty cool and it's cheap.
They make an aluminum rail and it makes the jack a lot lighter….Hi-Lift® UTV/SxS Jack - Hi-Lift Jack Co.

100%. Changing tire's is one thing, but having a jack for vehicle repairs and getting unstuck is priceless!I found that too and can make one pretty easy too. I like having options.

they do a comparison on all the most popular jacks
the cheapest and most carried is the scissor jack
BTW, if you decide to go the AGM route, 4 wheel parts has the best prices. In order to get my can am tires off the ground jacking from the bottom of the frame it needs to be aleast 29 inches off the ground.
im looking for jack stands and need a few tall boys!
hope the mountains are blue
I’m in the same town and I’m thinking a pocket full of cash and stopping by for a tour of the plant might be the best bang of the buck….BTW, if you decide to go the AGM route, 4 wheel parts has the best prices.
Those are nice ! Actually a trailer tongue style jack! should work really well especially if you get the drop out foot

They work great for utv’s when modified. I was making these for a while with unlimited adjustments and plenty of lift. Made universal “hangers” that hung on the jack body for different jack points. Did major surgery to drop the weight to 1/5 of the starting weight.https://www.harborfreight.com/3500-lb-pipe-weld-drop-leg-trailer-jack-57746.html
@DLC You sparked an idea. I'm gonna buy one of these today and see what I need to do to modify it. I'll make my son fab up some parts as needed.
Though the same thing.... get rid of that handle and weld an end to crank the jack up that would fit into a battery powered impact and then mount a few steel collapsible hooks along the body. $100 maxhttps://www.harborfreight.com/3500-lb-pipe-weld-drop-leg-trailer-jack-57746.html

HF was out of stock on the model I wanted, so I will have to wait. My Kid is in Reno, so I may ask him to go and buy one and see what he comes up with.If you can make the drop out part out of aluminum that will save some weight. Drill some holes in it. Use thinner gauge material…
those are really cool, until you run out of CO2 cartridges.
Same can be said for agm when your drill battery diesthose are really cool, until you run out of CO2 cartridges.
your right. i firmly believe in carrying back ups. especially for anything that takes a battery or air and preferably a manually operated version. 1 is none and 2 is 1.Same can be said for agm when your drill battery dies
