Thinking of throwing a windshield on our Can Am. I like the fit and finish of the OEM glass but at the same have concerns because, well its glass. Any input on how these hold up? Seems like the plexi would scratch easier than glass but would probably do better against a rock?? Dunno. We do mostly hard pack so dust is also a concern to be cleaning it for visibility

Do not do plexiglass l!!! Only do automotive glass if doing a windshield. I am not a fan of them but they have their pros and cons

I have the half plexi from ‘clearly tough’ out of Utah. 1000 miles zero scratches or swirls and I wipe it will a micro fiber as driving. Easy Velcro on off. Never comes lose.
Blocks wind in the face great.
Only thing it takes a bit of time getting used to where it’s ends on height, it’s in your line of sight.
$200 bucks well spent

From past experience a full plexi windshield seriously sucks, hard enough to keep scratch free with delicate cleaning, let alone clearing the dust during a ride. Damn near drove off a cliff one afternoon heading into the sun, driving BLIND  That in addition any full requiring some kind of rear window or mesh to mitigate the dreaded 'Vacuum cleaner' suction filling the cab with powder dust from the rear. In our case, because we rarely if ever ride sucking dust in a group, we've opted for a half-shield --- besides, we really enjoy feeling a bit of breeze and feeling outdoors rather than in a closed cockpit. For us a flip-down glass version would be awesome, just not sure anybody makes one.

In the sand dunes in can reflect and it is hard to see at times when coming up and over a dune. I took mine off. For Havasu it is a must because of the heavy dust.

Safety Glass or forget it. Never plastic. You get static cling. The pop out Safari kind are popular.

They do make a safari type one that is hard coated plexi. It was electric too so you just hit the button and it flipped up. Didn't get to see how it looked open though

I’ve got a full windshield on my Rzr. It’s glass and I haven’t had any problems with it so far however it creates a negative pressure behind it and that sucks in a lot of dust. I’m thinking about putting in a rear window to hopefully offset some of that. It’s not bad most of the time but if you’re in a silty area it can be.

Save your money, rear window doesn't change it.

I've got the full windshield (glass) on my X3. It's great. Keeps the wind out of the car and really makes the ride more comfortable. As we get in to warmer riding, if it's too warm, I'll take it off . As for the dust, when we're in a group ride, I tend to hang back far enough from the car in front of me to stay out of their dust. I like to see where Im going. If it gets dusty, a microfiber cleans it right up.

If you're in a dusty area, GLASS!!! plexi is ok in sand, but everyone in our park (Ehrenberg) that bought plexi to save money ended up going glass after a season.

Never do Plexi. Absolute dust magnate and scrathes. Auto glass is great when riding in the dust. It can cause the dust to swirl and hit the rear seat passengers hard though, so my may end up having to install a "dust cutter" (rear windshield or windscreen) to get rid of the low pressure area inside the car that is sucking the dust in behind the driver / front passenger.

I will say this - You'll need to clean the windshield well before the sun goes down, dust on the windshield that you dont notice during the day makes it impossible to see at night. You might end up pulling over a few times to wipe it down even, if your following in a pack. It's great not having the cold air on your face, and keeping your face clean is awesome, but that part is irritating.

Another warning worth mentioning - you lose the sensation of speed with a full windshield, you'll find yourself driving alot faster in most conditions! I noticed this right away. I actually thought something was wrong with my clutch in my XP41k, the first time driving with the windshield on. The car didn't feel like it had the mid-range accelleration it normally did, and felt "flat" on top despite pulling the same RPM's. Then i realized.....i was doing 70+ already, almost topped out ! Felt like 40.. This sense of comfort is dangerous if you don't realize it

I have a BENT Metal Fabrication glass windshield on my can am it works really good.
Make sure it’s vented
A windshield has pros/ cons
But I feel the pros outweigh the cons.

I don’t like the wind burn feeling after riding all day
Also don’t care for goggles
I Like to ride with sun glasses
I have a flip down sun visor to reduce glare when driving into the sun late in the day

they have a spray that coats the glass and the dust doesn’t stick, just use a micro to do a dry wipe off and your good to go

Im still saying my half plexi works great.
Its some type of acrylic. Dust doesnt stick any worse than glass.
I seriously wipe it with a dry micro constantly. No scratches

It's a must-have for me...Only downsides I've encountered is when the sun is setting the glare is very bad during that 1/2 hour and having to clean it when in muddier conditions or rain.

I had a full glass windshield on a Razor, much better than the half plastic. It also opened the bottom four inches or so for the summer. It may have created a vortex for dust but most went away when I installed the full doors. Yes it did have some glare at certain times, but still worth it IMHO.

Just looked up the bent metal windshields - those are pretty bad ass. Look like they fit well and I like how you can get a different color vent. Did you get it with or without the wiper?

I got it with out the wiper, the wiper, I think is a manual wipe.

it Velcro’s on off and is easy

The rain X water repellent works wonders on the outside and inside to keep dust from sticking to the glass

I have a half windshield ... I like it ... it cuts down the wind and some rocks ... my wife like the “perceived “ protection ... the bad part is that dust sticks to it and it blocks your vision badly .., u can’t just go out and wipe it clean cuz that’s how u scratch it ... a full one ? Nope ... it’ll just be covered with dust and completely block ur vision.

$200 bucks well spent

X2 on the Clearly Tough half windshield. Installed on my Can Am last year and have experienced no dust or other issues at all. It blocks wind coming into the car but still maintains airflow through the car to the turbo.

Get the Bent Metal windshield, don't waste your time with a plastic windshield, it will scratch and you won't be able to see through it. My buddy bought his X3 the same day I bought mine. He bought the CanAm plastic windshield for $1000 and threw it in the trash after a few rides, it was scratched to shit.

The fit and finish of the Bent Metal one is great, and it goes on and off easily. I've had mine on my X3 for two years and haven't taken it off. I clean it with Windex and a rag.

My only complaint is when I'm driving directly into the sun, I can be difficult to see with the glare.

Everyone I know that's put a windshield on their car, never takes it off.

I tried a half windshield, it was like a giant dust vacuum inside. Take it off and no dust. We just wear adventure bike helmets with tinted visor, quieter, warmer, safer. Always concerned about head injuries with the roll bar so close anyway.
