Suspension for my Silverado

I have a 14 Silverado 1500 4x4 w 93k, I’ve decided to keep it for a few more years and want to upgrade the suspension. I currently have a leveling spacer on my stock shocks and run 33 ko2’s. I was thinking about doing a coilover replacement possibly fox 2.0 or 2.5s. I think the uca’s would need to be aftermarket if I use 2.5s. Any other choices, I occasionally use it off-road and I don’t beat it. Any hookups on this or shops local to chino hills w good prices. Thx

It would be a little pricey but I think the factory replacement kits from LSK suspension would be great bang for your buck. They make some very nice stuff and have quiet a few options for your truck too.

No hook up, but I would be looking at Mazzulla, Camburg, and Baja Kits in addition to the LSK suggestion above. I think @beaverretriever has one of these kits on a newer silverado that he’s been happy with.

No hook up, but I would be looking at Mazzulla, Camburg, and Baja Kits in addition to the LSK suggestion above. I think @beaverretriever has one of these kits on a newer silverado that he’s been happy with.

He mentioned fox 2.0's or 2.5's. I don't think he is looking to break the bank for mostly on road, with some powerline roads occasionally.

Bilstein 5100's are a good budget-friendly option. Not quite Fox/King tier, but better than the spacer you currently have.

Bilstiens ride height adustable shocks are all you need. Only replace the upper arm if it's worn out. If your not beating on your truck everything else is just fluff.

Really depends on your budget.
A 2.5 external rezzie will give you a great ride and also be very capable.

There’s a drop off to a 2.5 without rezzie.
Then a bigger drop off if you go to a 2” shock.

If you go up 2.5” in lift heights, you’ll need new UCA’s.

Icon has a delta joint solution that’s much stronger than a ball joint, but because it’s sealed there’s less maintenance than a uniball...and it will never make noise.

Most of those options are 2.5s, but Camburg has a wide range of options from mild to wild. I like the option of building my suspension in stages rather than having to start over when I inevitably want to step it up.

Believe me, I have NOTHING bad to say about Chris's kits or any of his products. AT ALL!! I actually love his work!! But I think we just went from 0 to 100 in less than 10 posts! 🤣

I'm doing Baja Kits arms and king 2.5 with adjusters on our 2020 trailboss

Should work good but yeah you are pushing 4k for the package before wheels and tires.

This group wont buy a river pad unless it is 3000 Sq Ft with a 120' RV garage filled with a $300K 700 HP boat and $80K SXS in it.

You can't have funs with anything less than that. :)

Mazzulla all the way. My brother has a 17 4x4 ccsb and went the cheaper route and hates it. My 18 4x4 ccsb has billet upper and coilover with piggybacks in the rear. Tows amazing( toyhauler and boat)
I removed the rear block. Didn’t put to much lift on the coilover so my headlights don’t shoot for the moon when towing.

I have a ‘13 4X4, CCSB 6.2. I put King OEM remote resi 2.5 on the front and the piggyback jobs on the rear. Running on a factory 20” wheel with 34” BFG KO2 tires. It has been plenty for me.

I’m considering something like this kit, I was considering resi kit of this shock, but add like $1500. Some of those kits mentioned are baddest, but 15k is a tad more than I’m willing to pay for a daily driver, weekend warrior. Looking for a local shop w a good cash deal.

I was about 7500 all in ( got the skid plate too) with install and aligment. Worth it

That is a great set up. Again you dont need upper arms, the stock ones do the exact same thing just not as strong (You said you werent going to beat on it though). Those Fox shocks can be custom valved to ride however you like. You dont need the extra fluid cooling from the reservoirs or the bigger piston on the 2.5. Unless you wanna waste money like most do on their street queens around here.

I’d stick with the UCA. Yes they are stronger, but I think the real reason you get them is to rectify alignment issues when you lift your truck.

UCA’s aren’t for strength.
Upper arms are needed it you lift 2.5” and some would say at 2”. Otherwise it’ll ride poorly, as you’ve eaten down travel. UCA’s bring the geometry back toward stock and give you your down travel back.

Rezzie aren’t for cooling, though that’s a secondary function.
The benefit is more valving options with a much larger volume of fluid, plus more valving options within the rezzie itself.

There’s a pretty big difference in street ride between a 2.5” shock and a 2” shock, but diminishing returns when you go to a larger shock diameter.

Toyota Tacoma’s and Jeeps have ditched 2” shocks and are running 2.5” shocks with factory premium off-road packages. Lots of reviews noting improved rife quality over the previous 2” shocks...and those vehicles are waaay lighter than a full size pickup.

You sure know a lot about what people need, how they use their vehicles, and how folks choose to spend, I mean waste, their money.

Most folks just post up their experiences with things, so the OP can make a choice.

Thanks for the mention guys. I'm very happy with my Brenthal / Baja Kits / King set up but way overkill for what I do most of the time. However maybe I run worh some of the SxS guys out in Havi to grab a beer some day. Always love to share my truck on here as I'm super happy with it.

@THE WIDGE I really loved my Bilstein stuff on my last truck if you dont want to break the bank.

Here is my current set up on my 2019 Chevy RST Z71. Baja Kits Control arms, 2.5 adjustable King remote reservoirs front and rear, custom 1" leafs. 3in lift in the front. On 35"s.

Aftermarket upper control arms do not change the suspension geometry, the stock pivot points remain the same. In fact most arms loose down travel due to only using a 1" uniball with a 3/4" bolt. Camburg does it right with a 1.25" uniball and a 9/16" machined tapered bolt. Some companies claim they correct for lost caster but I've never been able to feel the difference.

There is no valving in a remote resevoir just a floating dividing piston. If you go with an adjustable shock with clickers then they regulate high speed fluid flow through the resevoir line.

No matter if it's a 1" shock or a 4" all they do is regulate shock fluid flow past the piston. They turn kenitic energy into heat. A good tuner can do wonders with a 2.0 Fox and shock fluid is rated to 900°f, I doubt if the OP will heat a 2.0 past that.

I have experience with all the above situations, just giving my .02$ to the op. Ive been in suspension design and offroad racing for 20 years, hopedully I can provide some insight. The street queen comment I made probably wasn't needed.

Back th the original question, yes the camburg kit is a good way to go!

My cost-benefit analysis would tell me, unless you're going to turn your near 100k daily driver truck into a full-blown pre-runner, I'd just throw four nice Bilsteins on the current setup, lube your OEM A-arms and keep going.

That said, I'm running the Icon Stage 5 system on my Canyon Duramax 2WD and love it. It's some overkill, but the combination lift, ride and quality makes for a great setup.
