Just to help with the shopping, I just sold the one in post #22 to a younger couple that I really liked for $39k. It was nice, but negatives were that it was a gasser, I'm in northern Nevada, and tires were at about 6 years. Since the posted pics, all of the graphics were two-stage painted.

Downside I see is there is more noise with a front engine, the user interface of even the $500,000+ Super Cs is that of a delivery truck and because of the drive shaft there is no pull through storage.
I have a Jayco on the S2RV Freightliner chassis. The floor is probably 24" above the frame. I'd say half of the storage is all the way through. It a tall girl at 13' 1" though. The chassis was built for RV use so it's actually pretty nice. Definitely has engine noise.

Yup, these are exactly the down sides.

The up sides though are the tow ratings and the first time you need to do any real work to it being available at any place that works on trucks and is thousands, commonly many thousands less due to access.

Nothing is perfect but I still love my Super C. Just wish I could have gotten a bigger motor. The massively detuned 6.7 Cummins is a pig.

We love our DP. They typically have larger fresh and dirty water storage tanks. A downside though is the cab heater sucks. Trying to plumb warm water 30-40 feet from the radiator to the cab you loss a lot of temperature. Like needing a blanket temperature while driving if it’s 30-40 degrees outside.

What’s the cheapest new Super C with the 8.9L ISL?

Personal opinion only.

Later model super C drives better, and tows more than a pusher, the truck chassis is just that, more industrial, serviceable anywhere.

My wife was all over the road and won't drive a pusher, but the super C is like driving a truck, steers straight and is easier to drive.

Look at the Freightliner M2 Chassis.

I drove this combo from Vegas to St Louis then to Bristol Tn for a guy, to say it ruined me is an understatement. With four dragsters, a golf cart, and everything that goes with them it never fell below 65 and cruised beautifully at 75. It’s almost too nice to take to the desert but I probably would it I owned it.

I saw it in person Saturday. It’s actually much cleaner than the pictures show. That’s kind of rare too I’ve noticed. He did tell me right off the bat he knows he’s on the high side but he said he wanted to start high because it’s easy to go down and he didn’t want to leave too much on the table. Nice guy

Check out this 2007 Jayco SENECA HD 36 FS shared from the RVTrader iOS App.

Back when this thread was new, I still had the 8.1 super c i posted in pics on the first page. Since then, during the covid craze, I sold it. I believe I got 43K for it in March of 21. I had totally cleaned it up, de-stickered it (was all white), etc. FWIW...the couple that bought it in 21 have been trying to sell it for about 6 months. Last I looked they were down to 30K I believe...

Also, since this thread was new, My dad passed away (he owned the Supernova in the first few pics). I was able to sell my kodiak for way more money than I had in it, and I bought the Supernova from my mom for 80K. It is leaps and bounds a nicer coach in every single way (except its slower up hills). It holds 200gal of water, and it drives like a train on rails in the wind, semis passing, etc. We have been on trips with friends in 5th wheels, pushers, etc and I wont even notice the wind one bit and they will have to pull over. It is absolutely mind blowing how much different it drives compared to any other RV I have owned.

So, since youre doing price comparisons...sold my 2005 6316 with 60K miles (single slide) in march of 2021 for 43K (I wouldnt have paid 43K for it).
Relisted about 6 months ago for ~40K
Last I checked it was down to ~30K, but I dont see it for sale anymore so It must have sold. While looking I did find this one:

We have looked at a few MOHOs and the tag axle super C was amazing to drive vs anything else. If I can figure out how to get it to back down my ridiculously steep driveway without getting stuck, something like one pictured would be our next purchase.

If that’s built like our 03 gulfstream class c version it’s a solid coach. Very similar interior features.

With these Super C I expect the turning radius to suck quite a bit compared to a class A DP.

I've been in a show hauler before (never drove one), bitchen rig but it was difficult for the driver to turn around in a parking lot. Now I've driven a DP and its pretty easy to turn around, but people freak out with the wheels behind you. IDK.... My wife like these super C (newer ones) but I'm not sold as they are not as roomy and you loose so much space in the overall length for the cab....

Just trying to under stand what these due better if not needing to tow 15-40k lbs.

The big class As like my neighbors 2007 Newmar Essex with the 500HP Cummins will tow 15,000 or maybe 20,000, I forget now. The new ones with the 605HP Cummins will tow 20,000+

The show haulers are a lot longer than many of the super c's, that is where your turning radius comes from, The longer super c's have a ton of rear overhang comp aired to the Show hauler rigs. they are in the 40+ range.

Has anyone seen Super Cs under 12' tall? Something maybe with a mini split vs a roof mounted ac?

I've been kinda looking at Super-C's myself for when I retire in a few years. Currently I have a Genesis Toyhauler and 7.3L Ford Dually with 340K on the clock. But after driving it for 25 years I'm kinda getting tired of it, lol. Plus parts aren't getting any easier to find! It just kills me to pay $100K for a new dually.

Been thinking about going the Mini Super-C route so we can still do mostly boondock camping. The Buckstop conversions with Super Singles similar to this one have me really wanting to go this route. It's kind of like a Poor Mans Earth Roamer, lol.

Usually the Fleetwood Revolution are 15k and most others in that same range are 10k, my father 42' Allegro bus is 10k. But when you get up to the big guys like newmar/prevost are 20k and I think some American Eagles are as well.

I believe his was around 40' but not a twin screw. Not sure if the axle spread is the same on those than they are on lets say a new 40' Seneca.

If the sport chassis turning radius is anything like my f-350 the it sucks but the 450 is night and day better.

We have always talked about a motor home when we retire...and I have always been interested in a Super C. I had some time today and was browsing the craigslist and found this. Don’t recall seeing this platform before.

This what I was going to suggest coming from a truck camper as well for almost 18 years the boys were getting to big for it. I purchased a 28SS Explorer package 2021 its has heated tanks 8000 watt generator and a huge solar bank on top plenty of storage for the winter trips and tows my 28foot trailer with the 55 Bel Air in it. there are some good used units on the market you just have to look around. I also put Toyo M655 tires on all six for winter and daily. Dynamax did come out with a super single conversion if you want to really want to take it off road.

Both Super C's Ive owned have had awesome turning radius's. I have zero problem navigating walmart parking lots with my 37' on the IH chassis. The overhang provides enough swing that even with my 30' flatbed behind it...we have zero issues going anywhere at all. In the off chance you do end up in a spot that is tight, they are also tall enough that jumping a few curbs is no biggie.

They all do the same. Comes down to preference.

Why I went with SuperC
- wife felt safer driving the C vs an gas A or a DP
- most Freightliner shops will work on the C. Not all shops will work on a DP.
- wife wanted a camp side kitchen, plus bathroom sink separate from toilet. Hard to find that layout on an A or DP
- they look cooler :)

They’re crash tested. DP’s typically aren’t unless they’re on a true marathon/prevost type commercial bus chassis.

Whatever you collide with in your typical DP is likely coming into the cab… or you yourself are going out of it lol

Many years ago, I took a 2 day driving class so at the time I could drive my fathers DP to glamis... The old timer who took me on 2-6 hr drives told me all about the this stuff, it was actually a a great time. The last day coming down the Cajon Pass he told me to never hit the runaway truck ramp, as it will shear the front axel and burry the font and you going out the window. Gave me all the tricks to get it to stop, and also said if the air breaks lock up, you have a 1x push on the air break realse them but need hold it down so you can move to the shoulder, once you release you wont be able to do it again.

Our trailer has the campsite kitchen, that was the selling point for her as well.

I would like to hear your reasoning going with Renegade vs others... I'm sure you have done the research

I picked the Renegade Valencia 36SB. Wife wanted a gas stove vs electric and I preferred the Truma on demand water heater vs the AquaHot 250D. Way too many hurry stories about the AquaHot250.

#1 reason was build quality. 2” walls, no wood (except floor)l etc..
It was 109 at the Islander and under 75 inside the RV :)

While customer service has dropped since Rev purchased Renegade, it still beats everyone else. Plus I wanted a solid color paint and those options get limited. Friends purchased a Seneca Premier and it was less money, but already has had interior issues (door falling off, hinges breaking, etc).

Wife looks out window and yells at me while I am on grill duty. Just nice seeing camp while doing dishes, etc.
Also I wanted the bed facing my camp vs someone else.

Thanks, I wasn't completely sold on the Seneca when we looked a few years back before getting the trailer... Haven't set foot in a Renegade model to see the difference...

To bad on the aquaHot, they are great when working, my father has a larger one and uses it heat the coach in the winter. But it does come with a maintenance cost.

The AquaHor 400’s and up are solid. The 250 just seems to have issues. Upgrading from a 250 to a 400 is 15k plus when you factor in reprogramming the Firefly system
