Took the wife's Cherokee 5.7 Hemi out yesterday, check on my buddy's house, making sure, no squatters moved in.:)
He lives on the lower mainland and only here occasionally. The house is on ten acre rural with 700' lake front, Mostly ranchers with horses and llamas are around. The lake is frozen, would have been fun taking the Jeep on it, if I knew how thick the ice under the snow;). Can't wait for spring to row on his lake, it's beautiful up there.

I’m pretty sure I’m headed back to Sturgis again this year. I think that’s near you? We should catch up....
Hud

I wish, I was there last year and had a blast.

This year heading to Tn for 2 weeks to ride with my old man and his crew of dusty old pharts. They have a few overnighters planned, heading in all directions out of Marysville area.

I picked up this Solstice GXP with a blown motor for 2500.00. I repowered with a stock GXP turbo motor then put an RPM motorsports stage 3 upgrade, bigger turbo, cooler, cat eliminate, charge pipes and a tune. 400 h.p., 385 or so at the wheels (claimed). I'm all in around $7500.00. This is in front of the Royal Hawaiian in Laguna, one of our regular Sunday stops.

Bitchin’! I bet she hauls the mail. I always thought that would make a sweet ride, far superior to the monster miatas.

You obviously haven't played with the monster miatas I've played with. They bring their A game when playing with foxbodies! They usually win too.

Monster miatas are badass, but that Solstice looks better, handles better...sure it’s a bit more tech’y compared to a 5.0 miata but.....lol I’d honestly rock either, but that solstice has too be a riot when you lay into the skinny pedal

I'm sure it's a bad ass pontiac, I just don't like them on a looks basis. I've always been more drawn to "boxxier" lines and only love the monsters for the Windsor they hold under the hood. I also love the feeling of a car on the ragged edge. Smooth handling and hugging the road are just not my cup of tea...

If it wasn’t for the fact that it hasn’t been out of the garage in seven or eight years I guess I could’ve taken the Centurion out for a spin...

Owned 1 Monster Miata (NA 5.0) and 1 Mega Monster Miata (Whippled 5.0). Had the black Mega for over 10 years. Never drove a Solstice, but did drive several uber-turboed 4 banger Miatas. No comparison, in fact even comparing the Mega to the Monster is apples to oranges.
The cars I'm speaking of were built by Dave Hops & Martin Wilson, the Mega's they put out were purpose built, numerous parts were changed, these weren't Miatas with 5.0's simply stuck in them.
My black one started life as a brand new 94' Miata, it was driven 2 miles from the dealer to Monster Motorsports and basically stripped of all mechanicals and I do mean ALL. From the tires to the engine, not a single rotating or functional mechanical part remained, well except the heater/ac fan :D RX-7 hubs, special half shafts, Ford T-bird SC rear end, uni-body frame stiffened, all suspension upgraded, new springs and Koni shocks, Wilwood brakes, car was widened 6" to accommodate the huge F/R tires, fiberglass aero-package etc. etc on and on.
The only stock parts remaining were the headlights (Later Naca-duct covers were added), the basic body and interior --- which had a roll bar added. My whipple charged 5.0 was also purpose built, not just a 5.0 with a Whipple stuck on it. The car was rip your fuckin head off and make you shit your pants fast and if you weren't on your A-game it wasn't above trying to kill you should you for a moment become inattentive. The biggest challenge of course was controlling all this explosive power in such a light car (2200 lbs) and getting said power to rip up the pavement, not just burn up your rubber. You could easily spin the oversize meats with any shift at any speed ---- so driving as if you had your throttle foot on an egg was prudent.
The 5.0 Miata I'd purchased prior to the Mega (Yeah, I got hooked big time) was a completely different animal, certainly huge fun, much more demure, much easier to control, very cool fun car. This is the kit my friend Martin Wilson is still selling today, essentially the original Monster Miata package, not Mega's. By the time my Black Mega rolled out of Monster Motorsports it was close to a $ 60K car that started at around $ 17K. That was a lot of money in 1994-5.
The only reason I sold it was after driving it for ten years, coming to the conclusion I couldn't be that ole guy you see cruising his Vette or Cobra, the car simply wouldn't let me drive it sanely. I figured if I didn't sell it, it would eventually kill me or seriously fuck me up.
I did crash it once, cost $ 27K to repair it and rebuild it even better than before. After that, me and that car weren't bros anymore, it was more like after your dog bites you kinda thing.
I wish I'd never sold it but for my own sake, I'm damn glad I did --- LOL :D
Here's a pic with both of mine, from a photo shoot we did for an Australian Magazine "Motor" in May of 1995. I lost the original magazines in our house fire (Would have lost the Mega too, but I'd just sold it), but found this issue of Motor and the Jan 1995 issue of Mustangs and Fast Fords it was in on Ebay.
The car changed hands a few times since I sold it, actually made it's way to New Jersey. It's back in So Cal but reconfigured as a track-only car.

That car has been in the family since day 1, 140k original miles, factory air, unhit, unmolested, had a frame off done in 1985

Same deal as mine. No restoration, just over 100k. New paint on body and frame would be nice, but the rest is almost like new and considering the conditions it has lived in (extremely cold winters, mud, gravel) that is a miracle in itself.

Same deal here. Just over 100k, and a survivor - no restoration at all yet. Amazing considering the extreme weather it has lived through. View attachment 722980

Sweet ride, just curious, when I had my 65' Riviera my mom left me, I couldn't cruise it without having my arm up on the sill, steering with two fingers, just didn't feel right otherwise :p There's one of those "What was I thinking when I sold it" kinda deals

How do you like that vette? I’m looking for a project and had my eye on a few manual 78’s . Figure a little suspension work, a mild mill it would be a fun little cruiser. I really do like the lines.
Like it a lot. Had it for more than 20 years now. Basic 350 auto with factory air. And the clock works lol.
Th amazing thing is the battery is going on 16 years now. Never on a tender and turn key starts every time.
It has 54k miles. Fun car and you can find some decent deals.

Took the wife on her very first ride, I have had the bike for 6 years. She said she had a good time but I think she actually loved it. Just playing it down. She was pretty scared. But we took is slow went up the Sagebrush and then Neptune's. I heard her tell her mom " It was actually really fun" I'm stoked. Now time to get her a back rest.

I havent had a car that spins the wheels thru a couple gears since high school. The factory settings include traction control off and "competition mode". The car weighs less than 3k pounds.

Like most of the gearheads on here I've had a plethora of exotic, muscle cars. I've never got as much attention as I do with the Solstice. Granted, half the people think I'm gay, but still, it gets attention and lots of sidewalk chats. Super fun to break hearts light to light of Camaro, Mustang and some Mopar guys.

I bet it's a hoot to drive and one of those car models that even when new slipped under my radar. The diminutive size made the uber-performance of my Miata seem double or triple multiplied. Like riding or driving a flattie, you can't help but grin even when you want to scream.
Folks always wanted to know "What's the Top Speed" ? My answer was always the same, ' I have no fuckin idea and don't intend to find out' !!!
What I found interesting, although pulled over a few times for spirited driving, never got a ticket. Usually the first thing the LEO asked was "Can you pop the hood" :p
I loved driving it on the back or side roads, but having spent my life driving trucks, I never got used to the 'Lug Nut Eye Level' View on freeways :eek:
Always felt like I was one truck driver sneeze from getting crushed like a bug.:(
Cool looking car, nice sleeper with your setup and a perfect Sunday cruiser !!! :) One thing I learned the hard way, of course I had no traction control or even ABS brakes, but when you cross that invisible limit line, shit happens really fast, really bad shit :eek: Stay Safe :):)
