So I have a work trip planned for the beginning of September. The wife is going to come with me so we can make a little get away out of it. What are some cool things to do, good places to eat etc? This is stuff that would need to be late afternoon, evening as she is going to be working and I will be in meetings etc.

Thanks!

See if you can catch a concert at Red Rocks!!! Or a Rockies game, they suck, but its fun to pre-game in LoDo and have some beers in the beer pavillon on the upper deck in the afternoon / evening! Or just go to LoDo bars and restaurants....

Within a hour of Denver:

Garden of the Gods is worth it.

Concert at Red Rocks is the best.

Boulder is beautiful if you can stand the libs. Hike around the Flat Irons and then hit up Pearl Street.

Hang in Golden. Eric’s Pizza is great.

Head to the mountains:

- Fish near Leadville - Twin Lakes. Turquoise Lake. Visit the fish hatchery.

- Shorter Distance: Evergreen and/or Idaho Springs.

- Visit Estes Park. Drive through RMNP to Grand Lake.

Denver sucks!!!! It turned into a shit hole about 15 years ago and has got worse.

As Bob Seger sung. . . "Get out of Denver."

Red Rocks, Fort Collins, Golden, Estes Park

You looking for a nice place to eat. . . .Denver. . . . Buckhorn Exchange. LINKY

Come down south, get out of Denver. Littleton, Castle Rock. Lots of nice things to do and great places to eat south of Denver.

If you go to Red Rocks, close by is the Fort. Up in Morrison. Right near Red Rocks. Incredible dining experience!!!!! LINKY

Fort Collins is really, really nice. Down town main street, Fort Collins, is what gave Walt Disney the inspiration for Main Street USA in Disneyland. Neat place to visit and plenty of great places to eat. Go take a tour of the New Belgium Brewery. Linky Almost as good as the Coors Brewery tour.

Cant suggest Estes Park and Garden of the Gods enough if you enjoy the outdoors. A run up Pikes Peak is also fun!

Old Fall River Road in RMNP is the shit. College football in both Fort Collins and Boulder if you’re there on a Saturday. Video is Old Fall River Road in September, well maintained and can be done in any rental car. Pictures are all from RMNP.

If looking for an old school beer and burger joint in Denver, My Brothers Bar on 15th street. Order the Jalapeño Cheese Burger. Don’t listen to the political BS, still plenty of fun to be had in Denver.

If you are going down south, Bud’s Bar in Sedalia, another old school beer and burger joint. Lots of other good suggestions here from the locals.

You need to check out the Green Russell speak Easy in Denver. You enter the bar at the Russells smoke house, go down stairs, it like another world. Wife and I went there a couple years ago on a business trip. Great time, fantastic drinks. Coors Brewery was great time, short UBER ride to brewery.

If you go to Garden of the gods might as well do Pikes Peak.

If time permits drive west on I70, just before the Eisenhower tunnel is an exit for Arapahoe basin, Route 6 goes up and over the intercontinental divide. There is a parking spot for pictures if you desire big sign stating where you are. You exit into Keystone continue on thru Dillon and pickup I70 East drive back the thru Eisenhower tunnel.

As you are in Dillon. There is a road Damn road I believe takes you to Frisco. Again goes to I70.

If perhaps the water level is low one can see old buildings sticking up out of shallow parts of the lake as you drive over the dirt made damn road.

Head to Boulder and do the Falls hike and hit some of the bars/restaurants. The U of Col Buffs season starts on the 29th maybe hit a game. Visit Coors Brewery. I'll catch flack for this but tasting their beer at the brewery versus the bottle is night and day. It was excellent. Try it.

Pro Tip for the brewery, if you dont have a lot of time, ask for the short tour. They basically show you the door directly to the tasting room where everyone ends up anyway, haha.
