My truck crapped out, it is a 2006 F350 6.0 Deisel, Friday it all of a sudden was not running right, I found a crack in the turbo cooling hose, changed that then it was worse, thick black smoke went to Ford Sat morning and they could only talk to me till today, yesterday changed the EGR works a tad better, code says Turbo, but the Turbo is working and I am getting PSI About the same as RPM, the guy at ford told me that just because it is saying Turbo it could many different things have an app at 8am at Ford, may be up here for a few more days, it drives, just no power and thick black smoke , I hope it is something simple need to get home and to work, ant thoughts from you ford guys ? I need them to use there computer it will tell the tale, maybe injector Turbo needs cleaning or new or ? Anyone know any good deisel guys here ?

variable vains on the turbo. They change pitch as needed. They get cloged with soot or rusted with moisture and all hell breaks loose. I know nothing about ford diesels. I rent a yard with a ford diesel mechanic. He Has a shitload of messed up turbos laying around the yard.

Do u only drive ur truck when u need to tow or haul something? 6.0's do not like to sit for days at a time. Thats how what Rvrluvr was talking about happens. Hope its still under some warranty. That turbo is just shy of a grand and I think its rated at 7-10 hrs of labor. Get it diagnosed then take it to Robinson automotive and see what he can do. He is shadow on the boards.

I was going to say Robinson auto. Not only is he raved about here but he was the top mechanic for years at Ford in Havasu before going on his own.

I think there was an article posted on here about a class action lawsuit on the 6.0...

I let my diesel sit most of the time when not towing, what's wrong with that?

Moisture builds up in turbo which fucks with the soot and clogs the veins thrn throw in the rust factor. The veins have very little tolerance and doesn't take much to cause problems. This in on the ford turbos. Idk about chevy or dodge. Diesels like to be drivin. They dont like to sit

My 2006 check light came on at 5,000 miles, rust on turbo so new turbo. Dealer told me to start it weekly, no problem since then. Been 3 years now. Call ford dealer settlement may cover it with $100 deductable.

If Nate can't can't fix it, I would take it to Bradley Ford in Havasu... Not Parker Ford.

Variable veins need to get in boost. No sitting for sure. Last one I pulled to do an stc, oil cooler, dummy plugs and stand pipes had a broken vein causing the problem. Pressed in a new stud replaced the vein and all good to go. I always call the dealer to ballpark pricing. They wanted over 8k!!! I was able to do it for 3k including a bulletproof egr.

Parker Ford has always been good to me. Had bad issues with my 6.0 in Parker and they handled it well. The same mechanic may not be there though, heard he got hurt. Good luck
He did a master reset and works perfect, but it needs the exhaust back pressure sensor and a few other things and will clean the Turbo and all those parts, the bummer is they diagnose in the morning and do the work the next day, I said you have to be kidding me I was here Sat and you told me Monday you would work on it, not just look at it, so they are fixing it and will be done tomorrow at some point and the guy was cool, and it was not very much money, mostly labor, and it get driven every day, I was basically driving with no turbo ! My guys are al working and my main guy is taking charge while I am stuck , I have had the guy in Havasu do work and he is good, but I am in Parker and I do not think it would make it up there :)

Maybe on your way home stop at Home Depot and grab a for sale sign?
I like the truck a lot, and since I did the Bulletproof no problems, the turbo and senser are unrelated, I have a few of them, and the worst so far was glow plug went out all bought brand new, 2004's, 2003's and they have utility bodies and run flawless, two weeks ago had to change an EGR on one, but it takes 5 minutes, and the mechanic at ford is a friend down by my shop and he gave it to me for free, it was used but perfect, and I give RockStar, Redbull hats, pretty good deal and he is one hell of a diesel mechanic :)

Naa .... I prefer a North American made vehicle, not something that should burn Rice :D:D:D , or only takes YEN, when what you paid is finally converted to profit:D:D:D

I'm going to see a shrink now, as it may be me not the truck :D

I do love the truck and it's like an old friend, most of them need repairs now also and a few even need loans.

Classic...funny stuff

I was looking at them on the internet last night, do not like the look, like looking and what you think is a smoking hot chick in a bikini from behind and when she turns around, you are thinking Wow I just can not do that :)

Truck should be done at 2, something with the Turbo and some dumb senser :) Lot of Labor and the Turbo part is $, having them do a few things as they are cheaper than at home.

I know its not diesel but the Tundra has alot of room and nice to drive. They are thirsty but fuel is a write off. Saw quite a few new Dodges yesterday as the snowbirds were rollin in. Not the best looking. I still cant believe you hated that Chevy it was a nice truck.

You guys left just in time, it was so windy yesterday afternoon, I went out in the Razor and it felt like being shot with a BB gun, the blowing sand, should be out of here in a couple of hours !
