I use these but have also had good luck with the cheap ones at most gas stations just slap whatever sticker/patch you want on them.

The hemlock and SA ones seem to be a small brim compared to others right?

the hats are all the same? the hemlock ones are cheap! and cost alot of money. id do what @Boatymcboatface said get a cheap one a throw a sticker on it.

just as the landscapers where they get the ones they wear if you want one that last.
i just get the cloth fisherman hat with neck flap. dip it in the water throw it on your head to stay cool.

Aftco (American Fishing Tackle) sells a few . . . being a fishing company that's probably a no-go for most here.
But they have one that has a pretty cool US Flag on the front that's been tweaked a little.
It's $35 . . . not sure how that compares price wise with other brands.
I'm a booney/bucket hat dork . . . so I'm not schooled on the straw hats.

I have actually found the boney/bucket hats to work well and they last a long time. The one I have is a Dakine and it floats and holds it shape rather well with wind. Always jump in the water with it one to cool off.

I've heard good reviews on the ones in the RDR Store. Actually thinking about getting one for myself.

actually Ian the straw hats I make are pretty damn nice.. we sell a ton of them and get a lot of positive feedback from the people that buy them.

I remember you saying this last year and have a Siri reminder to get one when I drive into Havasu 😆

I’ve been rocking a Hemlock Sonora Edition that a client gave me. Has the flexible smaller diameter material weaved in along with cloth along the brim. Three trips out so far and it’s been great 👍

@Bpracing1127... @RiverDave has the most comfortable and durable straw hat I have found to date. after a year of use and abuse it's still provides shade and fits comfortably. Mine has some kinks and cracks but has no blow outs yet. Best return on investment I've had with one from any where else has been 6 months.

A good portion of the pool guys wear them and they get them from the big pool supply house, SCP, in Havasu.

Do any of you straw hat guys know if there's an oil to put on a straw hat to keep the straw soft or moist. I feel like thats the pit fall of a straw hat. Once the straw dries it's game over.

My wife's retired chief father bought our kids these a few years ago, they love them.

My dad told me once, to never hire a man that owns a straw hat and rolls his own cigarettes. Half the time he's chasing his hat and the other half of his time he's rolling smokes.

Happy with my hemlock but you really can’t beat the ones at a good construction supply store. Dudes sweat in them 8+ hrs a day without issues. It’s like buying a Carhartt in Havasu. You may wear it once but you know damn well you could also work an oil rig in Alberta for 6 months too.

Wise man.. but now they got them chin straps. 🤪. But still rolling your own smokes went out with vinyl roofs on cars.

Rolling you own is making a come back in Oregon. Some call them blunts but, the rest use real tobacco. Today's cigarettes are 90% regen from tobacco products and added chemicals.

Aftco is a great company. My parents are best friends with the owners, good people.

I opened this thread thinking it was gping to be about Bernard Baruch and the economy or stock market.

Still too much of a finance guy I guess lol

On another note, with working in the sun all day at the rv park, now I want an RDP straw hat 😁

Alright time to give this thread some substance. 🤣

Here it is after one solid year of boat rides and landscaping my backyard.

Its funny, I wore my straw hat (Volcom) to a Laughlin trip a few years ago, and I fit right in with everyone else there...I wore to Havasu that same year and I was like the only person wearing one and everyone looked at me like I should be mowing the grass and not pissing in the channel...LOL

I have a big brim straw hat for boating and farm work. In NE Ohio I look like a Amish guy less the beard!
Ball caps just dont work for me.
