Mind you, I grew up in Ohio, no idea how/where we got these from but, these shirts my mom found with other boating shirts from the 80s when they moved not long ago. We had a cool jet bote back then and loved to where them. Any cool history on the place?

That's where they use to have the Bullhead City Family Boat Drags back in the 80's. I had a friend that use to drag race there back in the day. They tried to bring back the drag racing in 2012 but they couldn't get the sponsorship they needed to make it happen. Lazy Harry's (the bar) is still there but they took out the fuel dock that use to be there back in the day.

I met a guy named Thumper (through an old neighbor) that for a short period of time him and I became good friends. He was a couple years older so it was almost kind of like he was an older brother to me. The only way I can describe him is that he was a real Cowboy kind of guy. He knew all kinds of trades and worked on his own vehicles and boats. Shit he use to take his revolver everywhere he would go, I still have images of driving with him with it sitting on the dash of his truck.

One day I was bullshitting with him and I asked him about the mold that was sitting on his property (he lived just down the street from Sunshine Marina). He said his father and him built it and it was taken off of his old Biesemeyer that he had crashed. The old Biesemeyer sunk with him in it during the Bullhead City Family Boat Drags. He had gotten stuck in the boat and was pinned under the dash. So to prevent that from happening in the new hull, they built the mold with a T-deck.

My dad was real good buddies with Thumper, Bob, Woody and a few other names i can’t think of would sit at the bar all hours they’d head down for the daily drags around 6-7 then tie back up and have a few more beers. When Thumper passed away seemed a lot of that group fell apart. He was like the middle man of it all. There were oldddddd dudes a few young dudes and then Thumper. Pretty sure the whole gang has passed on since. But i have a ton of memories as a kid sitting out on the balcony watching them play.

Hopefully no one takes this as disrespect since I am putting this information in this goofy/corny thread about Bullhead.

I met Thumper through the Aliotti's. A friend of mine was good friends with the oldest daughter who lived one street below me in California and one street above him. I had invited my friend to come to stay with my family in my parents vacation home in Bullhead. Well the Aliotti's had moved to Saudi Arabia (when I was in sixth grade) on an engineering contract but my friend had heard that they then had moved to Bullhead after the contract was up. Sure enough when we got to Bullhead (we were now 20 or 21 years old) my friend looked them up in the phone book and found their number.

Nikki invited us over and we all pretty much hit it off for the next couple of years. My girlfriend at the time had also gone to Elementary School with her for a couple years before she moved to our neighborhood. Every river trip pretty much involved us hanging out on the river with his T-Deck Biesemeyer and my Southwind or on the sandbar by her parents house. Thumper and Nikki ended up breaking up and shortly later he moved to Phoenix. I hadn't seen him since he had moved but back in 2005 I was watching the USC game at Lazy Harry's and I got talking to a guy there that was also a fan. He was talking about him and his buddy (Thumper) doing passes out in front of Lazy Harry's and hitting bottom one time. He was going to try and get us together but soon after Thumper passed.

I have always heard good things about Thumper and it seemed like everyone in Bullhead loved the guy. Years ago after he passed, I took my Excursion to Oatman via the dirt road Silver Creek. I knew he had passed up there but I didn't expect to see this when I was on my journey. Rest In Peace my friend...

That's memorial was put put just after his accident, that's the spot where his went off Silver Creek on his dirt bike. I had ridden with his brother a couple of times, he worked for Zubrick T-Shirts. They use to run several Flat Bottoms on Saturday evenings and launch out of Sunshine or Rotary Park and we would go down and watch. Good Times.

It’s sad to see Don build an awesome river town just so he Could then destroy it by advertising to, and welcoming Scum to stay. Place sure has changed in 20 years:rolleyes:

On a side note, I was bowling with my son this evening and noticed that the Riverside sends employees out to bowl with a radio to radio in when/if someone isn’t wearing their mask while bowling.
There is complying (which I dong agree with, but understand as I do it to) and than there is being part of the problem. Fuck the Riverside! I will never spend money here again.

Matt, went to Gambling, Wagering Management and soon after taking over the Management, it was Gambling/Free Drinks Criteria, Pay To Park is in the Future, Just Watch. They have already reserved parking in the Covered Parking for Higher Rollers.

I actually thought the opposite of you, as he put in the "Pool Area" and seemed to be after the Higher Caliber Customers, But let's be honest here The Riverside is a Dump always has been and I bet will continue to be in the Future.
DAMN!! look at the Outside, It screams "DIVE" all over it. BUT!! It is what it is, Just The Riverside.

Stayed at the Riverside many a nights back in the early 80's when it had class. Stopped in there about 3 years ago...what a shit hole it had become.

Hadn’t been open for a year. And now we know, the Laughlin family is for “Pro Active” mask enforcement. The way the security walks the Riverside like the SS, I doubt LL will ever open again.

They send their workers home for a week (without pay) if they are caught (in private security cameras) in an elevator with more that 4, all while old Don runs people over in his scooter without a mask. They’re as bad as the Politicians.
