News is saying 5-10” of rain in about 36 hours and winds of 45mph sustained for the mountains (big bear/arrowhead).

Thankfully my boat is off the lake but if it wasn’t I’d seriously consider pulling it off.

I will believe it when it hits San Diego. The water needed to sustain a hurricane is I believe 80 degrees. When it hits cold water it's going to weaken and probably track offshore. We'll see.

I think all the weather forecasters in SoCal get a stiffy when events like this come up. Otherwise they must be bored to death.
When I lived in Houston for ten years, it seems like every time a hurricane entered the Gulf of Mexico, the local forecasters predicted it was going to make landfall in Galveston, then move up I-45 and destroy the city.

It's not a 'hurricane' thats the issue. It's the shit infrastructure not designed for this potential amount of rain.
It will fall apart quick, but that doesn't mean the rain magically goes away.

I love this kinda shit. I can't explain it.

As messed up as it is, this made me think of Pops. Really, aside from farmers, not a lot of people pray for rain.

In Cali, long dryspells mean people don't think of their lids. El Nino may as well be the patron Saint of roofers 🤣
Been thinking of re roofing my 2 story home in YL. It’s a tile roof built in 1986. Had a few small areas redone due to leaks. What is the process of doing a complete re roof job. New tile or just new paper?

Depends on the tile.
If they can save most of it and can find the same tile you're ahead of the game.

So Cal - the only place in the world with magical disappearing water.

A Hurricane can hit the place Sunday, and Monday there will still be a water shortage. 😂

I was thinking the same thing about the infrastructure as well. I'm with you, I love this shit, I hope it's a good show.

If they can save most of the tile. What’s a ball park estimate for approx. 2200 sq ft of roof.
We had our roof re-tiled about 4 years ago. All new tiles, 2 layers of paper, and new metal valleys and drip rails, and a little bit of wood work, $15K 1400ft” single story. We didn’t care for the Spanish tile and went with a flat concrete tile. So much better.

Re-paper and remove and
replace original tile was $12.5-14K in the 3 quotes we got. Again, this was about 4 years ago.
Just like grumpy said, the just remove the tile, I’ve seen where the stack tiles on one side, lay paper, move tiles to the other side, lay the rest of the paper and replace tiles.
My neighbor paid 14k for pretty much new paper . They took down his concrete tiles and re papered the roof and pool back up the tiles .

Why the Carpenters. Union. Why not Local 36. 😂
Shit I don't know, figured it was under them. I know the guy that fixed my leak earlier in the year wasn't union. He also did my patio cover when I did an owner build a few years back. Cash only 😁
