Can someone explain to me what's going on with these boats on the beach? Did they break lose from somewhere else and wash up on shore or were they already beached and the people said fuck it?

My moms at the river house and is the one that sent me the magic deck pics. She heard some chatter of what happened, but I can’t substantiate it whatsoever.

They were not moored in the magic, I was told they were out on the water earlier in the morning wake boarding. Weather rolled in fast, and this is what came of it.

That magic has been around for a few years, poor girl had a pretty rough life even before today, she needed all kinds of gel work, trailer had been smashed and was at absolute regularly for motor/drive work.

Sad life for that poor girl

It was gusty until Ludlow. We saw a ton of boats heading east towards the storm.

I cringe at some of those photos, brings back some life lessons our family learned about 15yrs ago in San Felipe. If we didn’t experience it ourselves I would look at it with a different view.
We were enjoying the day and had one of these storms come through and thought same thing just a little rain so we left the boat beached on the shore. All good until the wind kicked up and waves started breaking over the stern. As most that have been to San Felipe know waves are uncommon in the area but not that day. Couldn’t believe we just sank the boat while beached lol. Luckily for us it wasn’t a real valuable boat so wasn’t a real expensive lesson but was something I will always remember.
A lot more to the story but that was the key points : )

***If I knew to try beaching it backing up like you guys mentioned in other thread maybe it wouldn’t have happened lol.....

They parked bow in at their dock.

True story. We were beach camped at Mead years ago with a 19ft Cobalt. We were directly across the lake from temple bar just hanging, and a BIG thunder storm hit right in the middle of the lake. We were pretty weather savvy so we expected big wind. We battened down and waited. When it hit it was about 50. We were in a sheltered cove so the waves weren't bad, but all of a sudden the lake began to rise. We sat there and watched the boat float past our lawn chairs up the beach. Before we could react the surge retreated. It left that boat high and dry. There was 6 foot of beach between the transom and the water. This was before cell phones and we had no radio. We thought we were screwed. Then the next surge came. Luckily it was big enough so it refloated the boat and we were able to push it down the beach. All the time the wind was howling. Three of us stood in chest deep water holding the boat by the bow through 3 more surges. I finally said screw this and jumped on the boat , backed it out , put it bow into the wind and just sat there 50ft off shore until it quit. Learning experience there. That microburst in the middle of the lake displaced enough water to cause mini tsunami conditions.

Well that did not work. Boat died again! Got of trailer, picked up wife and as soon as I went to give it gas to leave the bay, boat shut down and will not turn over. Starts but then give it gas and dies.

Time to go bar hopping and call it a day.

Talked to my shop (WOT Marine), low pressure fuel pump most likely. They are ordering one and then will drive out and fix (shop getaway weekend in Parker).

WOT called and picked up my bar tab at the Turtle. Kyle and Cole sure know how to make a customer happy.

Don't they have the T-storm alert system for Cell phones? My phone goes off all the time, and usually gives me 30 minutes heads up.

I usually get one if I have location services turned on. This time, nada.

On FB the owners said the boat was anchored out with sand spike in the back and they went to the store. Came back 30 mins later to that.

I was there and saw the whole thing with the magic tried to help but couldn't do much.
He seemed like a new boat owner or new to havasu. He was out pulling the kids wakeboarding when storm started rolling in he thought best idea was to get to a beach, when I asked him why he didn't pull around the corner and go in the marina he didn't' even know there was a marina said he's never been to that side of the lake. So they were trying to hold the boat on shore when the storm picked up that wasn't working anymore. I drove down to try and help but by that time the boat was sideways and to far up on shore to push it off we ended up tieing it off to my truck so it wouldn't keep getting dragged north along the beach. He called boat u.s. but they said they won't come over until storm dies down, by that time there was no option but for him to wait it out. The waves were breaking over the side of the boat and eventually fully filled the boat up with water. After it died down boat u.s. showed up pumped it out got it off the beach and towed it back to windsor for him.

With what you posted, and what my dear mother told me, I’d say she talked to you at the beach.

Killed me to hear what happened. Good on you for doing what you could.

Wow I guess I picked a good weekend to stay home, lol.

Is it me or does it seem like there’s a lot more storms this year than usual?

Just had Arizona Awning did mine at the Islander. Guess all it needed was to get bolted to the cement again.

Little bit of rain was nice and made for a awesome day Saturday, shit was a drop in the bucket compared to 4th of July when my boat had about 8" of water in it.
