So what happens now? You get your boat back but let's say it's scratched or worse (missing equipment etc). Does insurance just cover it and go after the thieves?

In a perfect world yes, but reality, they just fix it and write it off.
I just read that according to Ron's audio, the owner was supposed to send someone to pick it up a week ago and they never showed. Also said that owner hasn't paid bill............
Sounds like an insurance job to me.

That isn't uncommon at all in Havasu. People try to drop their boats off at Rons, Absolute Speed and Marine, Barrett Custom Marine, and so on for something super easy. They do it so they pay $50 for two or more weeks of storage in Havasu. They leave the cover for the boat to be covered and such. Most shops now offer pick and delivery to keep people with houses or storage from leaving their boats there for weeks.I just read that according to Ron's audio, the owner was supposed to send someone to pick it up a week ago and they never showed. I remember reading that something like 86% of all boat thefts the owner is involved in someway or another. That sound right?
My wife saw on FB this morning that someone saw that boat on the 10 in Indo yesterday morning so keep an eye out So Cal.
Kommifornia they will just get a ticket for thatYour personal boating insurance will handle the claim and if they feel like it THEY will go after the property insurance to split the bill.
I'd love to hear the rest of this recovery story.
Taboma, they can be charged with felony possession of stolen property in Ca and grand theft in Az. :thumbsup
That's awesome they found it, guess Ron will be rethinking his security......... I know I wouldn't leave my boat there.
I would not be suprised if SANCATT auto theft taskforce jumped in on this. All prosecution will be in Riverside County.
Would the fact a stolen property was taken across state lines increase the charges?
