Which begs the question. What is the price point our RDP experts would grab this thing and rebuild it.
I'm going to guess for the right person it would still have to be under 5k. They are gonna store this thing for forever, they could get rid of it for 5k and write the rest off as a loss at the end of the year, the original owner might be willing to talk at 5k.I mentioned this earlier in this thread. It isn't necessarily the asking price that's hurting the sale. The problem is finding the perfect buyer. The buyer has to be in love with this exact boat, and would buy it regardless of the asking price or the condition. And that buyer has to have a truckload of money to throw at this boat to bring it back to life. We all appreciate this hull design and many have a love affair with the brand..... The stars just need to be aligned for it all to come together.
As long as the hull is good you can have a nice Schiada for a decent price. Install some used 496/B1 setups, decent interior, and misc. stuff. Finding a correct trailer would probably be the toughest part.I wouldn't take it for free.. And I'm not saying I don't like the boat. It's just not worth it.. The thing needs engines, drives, interior, floor?, gelcoat repair, trailer?, rigging.. No thanks..

I'm no expert on the subject, but I seriously doubt you could lay up a 32' Schiada hull for $15K. The costs for glass and resin have skyrocketed over the last few years. Factor in the labor costs and I'd bet a "New" hull from Schiada would be a lot more expensive than that. I'd bet you're closer to $50K or more for a bare hull. And that's still probably a low guesstimate.Material to lay up a new one would cost close to $15,000 so it’s a good deal for someone that wants one. That said, by the time your done rebuilding this you could buy a better handling turn key boat in this size range for the same or less. There’s a reason not many were built and I’d venture to say they never said no to someone willing to pay for a new one.
I stated that the material would be close to $15,000. No labor no mold. Gelcoat could probably give us a very accurate cost of material.I'm no expert on the subject, but I seriously doubt you could lay up a 32' Schiada hull for $15K. Perfect timingYou think Ultra would take on this project?
Did I miss something?Perfect timing![]()
I’m told by someone who’s built many Schiada and Hallett ski race boats with tons of big boat experience that there are lots of better handling boats in the size. I don’t remember any racing Factory 2 back in the day and if they worked well someone would have run one. I know of a couple twin engine v bottom manufacturers that are proven performers on the race course with incredible cornering ability and great efficiency in a straight line. Many were refined over many model years which is an advantage over a model that has a limited run. Much like newer 21 RC’s compared to early models, they keep getting better.I have been in a couple 32’s.. why do you say better handling?
RD
Is a 2001 32 Schiada that was a theft recovery worth $165k+? Maybe to someone who only wants a 32 Schiada I guess.I like red white and blue graphics. I think you could have a nice 90mph boat for 150k plus purchase cost.
Who's the other guy on Craigslist who sells hulls with no power?? Last ad I saw from him, he had a 38' Fountain for @ $8K. To me, that would be a far better deal if someone wanted to put a boat together and try to save some money.
Send me a link to that
That sure changed quick.
Video series in the works? If you gave it away at the end you could boost the heck out of your digital reach, look at what the Diesel Brothers did. Some of the ambassador deals I heard about with them were shockingly lucrative. RDP's Boat Rescue?Send me a link to that
$500,000 divided by $20 a ticket is 25,000 tickets.Video series in the works? If you gave it away at the end you could boost the heck out of your digital reach, look at what the Diesel Brothers did. Some of the ambassador deals I heard about with them were shockingly lucrative. RDP's Boat Rescue?

If people bought $100 worth that’s only 5,000 people
I’m trying to get RD a 100% return on investment lolEasier to just sell merch. For every $10 purchased in merch gets you a raffle entry.
I’m trying to get RD a 100% return on investment lol
If it came with a decent trailer at that price a skillful "do it yourself" kind of guy could make a nice boat for himself at a reasonable price. At 8 it starts to become reasonable considering what needs to be done.
Hypothetically speaking the biggest investment would be production of the film. If done right the cost to bring it back would be shared by vendors in exchange for promotion. Those builder shows have a pretty solid play book.I’m trying to get RD a 100% return on investment lol
It’s funny when people say that. Buy it for 8,000, dump 120,000, 128,000 total investment is now great and a reasonable price. If it came with a decent trailer at that price a skillful "do it yourself" kind of guy could make a nice boat for himself at a reasonable price.
And then rename it TapatioSeems like a perfect boat for young mexican to buy....every mexican has a tio that has a boat trailer sitting in his yard for years but has never owned a boat....they have a tio that does upholstery out of their garage....they have a tio that knows how to build a motors in their dirt lot and is ok with getting paid in coronas....they usually have a cousin that is a car stereo installer....I mean, call in a few favors to the family and you have a nice boat for a fair price...lol
I don't know what condition the transom is in, it could be good or bad. With that being said, I don't think you'd want to spend the kind of money it would take to build an engine capable of propelling that hull to a decent speed. It would take a TON of horsepower, which then leads to building a drive capable of handling those numbers. Again, not cheap. I would rebuild it as a twin as that's how it was originally designed. If the transom is rotten(just speculating) does it make sense to ditch the twins and do a higher hp single? Could shave off some dollars that way.
That looks like your buying another set of headaches aside from the basket case boat.Found some motors...

I was just thinking if the outside of those engines loom like that imagine what the inside looks like.Im talking for the backyard builder...of course nobody on RDP would put used motors in their boat, that would show signs of being poor and we dont tolerate that here!

8K ...there is a 32 trailer on Craigs for 6k... I struggling to find 120k... interior outside needs replacing, inside needs repairing...its got gauges and some other hardware and if the stuff still works just may need to swap some stuff but not a complete change out. If I am trying to bring back a reasonable boat, I am looking for every bargain there is ...that means buying used hardware, gauges, drives, and engines as long as they check out... Someone who does that can do this boat for less 80k...Gel looks good ...it definitely could use a 2K wetsand and it will be good as new.....I would not buy a 8k dollar schiada and try and make it into 200k schiada by buying all new stuff....but that's me...It’s funny when people say that. Buy it for 8,000, dump 120,000, 128,000 total investment is now great and a reasonable price.
But when you buy it for 20,000, dump 120,000, 140,000 total investment is dumb and a bad financial decision.
We’re talking %10.
Sure you’re saving money, but it’s still a large chunk of change for a “do it yourselfer”
Appreciate your participation... me too though I'm just arriving and way late! Its a good one.I haven't watched a thread this hard since the hooker thread![]()

Definitely would have to consider those... I was not ruling other boats out as much as making the case this boat could be put back together more economically then others are pointing out. When I read some of the comments, I envision some guy is going to spend 8k on a boat then 20K on a brand new trailer as they start the rebuild... that don't make sense....but much about boats and dollars does notI think the problem is, if you are just "trying to bring back a reasonable boat" and are comfortable spending $80k, why not just buy something like the below options and be on the water tomorrow instead of spending the next 6 months sourcing parts, working with shops etc. This needs someone who specifically wants a schiada 32, and generally schiada buyers are ones that go all out
